I like how she weaves the whistle register into the song all the way through from beginning into end rather than 'cueing' it in 'stand-back - I'm about to hit a high one' way. And she has such control. The overall singing is very sweet, deceptively 'laidback' and expressive. It's all about the slow burn.

This song and "Wouldn't Matter Where You Are" (also on YouTube) were my faves off this album. High school in NYC! I got to see Minnie open for George Benson. I would soon relocate to L.A. where I got my driver's license and this album was typical of the sound out here.

Did y'all know Minnie was the mother of former "Saturday Night Live" member Maya Rudolph? Maya's dad is record producer Richard Rudolph (Manhattan Transfer, Teena Marie, co-producer of this great album). R.I.P. Minnie.

She died of brest cancer. I remember her being one of the first to speak in public about breast cancer. She was on the Tonight show and Flip Wilson was sitting in for Johnny Carson and he went to a commercial when she started talking about breast cancer. What an ass he was.
