We would suggest Richard Rudolph tell the American People (by way of the Media) that Minnie Riperton covered Loving You, so fans of Loving You can have their say.
I like how she weaves the whistle register into the song all the way through from beginning into end rather than 'cueing' it in 'stand-back - I'm about to hit a high one' way. And she has such control. The overall singing is very sweet, deceptively 'laidback' and expressive. It's all about the slow burn.
Minnie puts today's "wannabe" songbirds to shame because she did it without computers adjusting and most times in ONE take.. Brava!.. You are missed and loved Minnie
@coronaqueen221 .Ive been studing Minnie and hitting her notes for quite a awhile too.Got all her albums when I wasa kid 'cause I wanted to sing just like.My father and grandparents were big fans of Ms.Minnie.They liked it when I emulated her.Interpretation is the best complement...
i hope u get the message i left u. but take wilshire blvd going west all the way to glendon ave. (i think i spell the first glendon wrong sorry, ) but when u get to glendon ave turn left go pass the movie to the first drive way on the left hand side u will then see westwood cem park. there is a big sign right as u pull in to the drive way. good luck. , maybe i will see u there: i take minnie flower's every month.
minnie was so great and a perfect angel that i know she is now. i love this lady so much i miss her but i still listen to her music and i do go to her grave in westwood to bring her flowers to show her that i will never 4get her, minnie u r the best, and will alway's b the best, we u passed away i told myself i would bring flowers to u, and i have and will as long as i live to show u that your no.1 fan (me) has never 4 got u, i'll b there on your b-day 11-08-09. i'll never 4get it. r.i.p
She was so under rated it is sad......I am thinking about moving to san diego...I would like to visit her grave...I visit los angeles from time to time....what is the best way get there....I still have a lot to learn about CA.....
I cannot imagine what her husband was going through filming UNSUNG. The love they shared made you want to go and fall in love and listen to Minnie's love songs.
This song and "Wouldn't Matter Where You Are" (also on YouTube) were my faves off this album. High school in NYC! I got to see Minnie open for George Benson. I would soon relocate to L.A. where I got my driver's license and this album was typical of the sound out here.
Did y'all know Minnie was the mother of former "Saturday Night Live" member Maya Rudolph? Maya's dad is record producer Richard Rudolph (Manhattan Transfer, Teena Marie, co-producer of this great album). R.I.P. Minnie.
when i was about 9 yrs old, i must have spent my whole summer (1978) pissing off my BUSYBODY next-door neighbor by listening to my mom's albums (while she was at work) of:
richard pryor (wanted - live in concert), sugarhill gang (rapper's delight), and
I do love her without havin` even spoken to her. I know from the kind of music she makes that she must be a wonderfull person, damn, I think I didnt heard one song from her that wasnt just legendary. How can someone hit this hightones...

Today it would have been her 60th Birthday (November 8, 1947 -- July 12, 1979). Deep respect for this voice, quality of singing and deep emotionality. - And hey, Minnie-Baby: You still enjoy us with your hot stoff. The young generation of "wanna become a star" still can take as an excelent example, what's world class R&B. - Keep you ever in mind & heart...
She died of brest cancer. I remember her being one of the first to speak in public about breast cancer. She was on the Tonight show and Flip Wilson was sitting in for Johnny Carson and he went to a commercial when she started talking about breast cancer. What an ass he was.
