  • What else can you say about this group...this is one of those jams and you say... what-da-funk?!

  • Fun is definitely "a playa"

  • GARY, GEORGE, BASSBIGBASSMAN, FUN WILL RUN AND PLAY, PLAYER ON

  • KILLA= A.K.A. THE UNDISCO KIDD....THIS HAS BEEN THE STORY OF MY LIFE...WHENEVER SHYT GETS CRAZY , I REMEMBER GOD HAS A STRANGE SENSE OF HUMOR, FUN...UN WILL TAKE THE LONGER WAY AROUND....HEY!!!

  • Body Language please....

  • The beauty of the "P": one minute they "tear the roof off the muthasucka" and the next, they give you innocent crystals like this and "Motor Booty Affair". Search the latter for more beauty.

  • I am truly beginning to notice now, just how a lot of funk songs are simply modern-day advanced negro spirituals disguised as funk ballads. How clever and soulfully uplifting. Each track is practically a mini-poem with key phrases and melodic chants we don't arrive at until the end of the song, which forces us to listen and pay thorough attention the whole way through, and makes each minute of the (be it a long or short) song relevant. Whoa..

    Deep stuff..

  • @DreTam2000 You don't get it. Keep trying.

  • @goodmechanic Thanks.

    That was truly helpful..

  • i dunno why i see some bickering in the comments section of a parliament song... for the record, EVERY song by the parlafunkadelicment thang changed my life in some way or another. PEACE YALL.

  • @intheekeyofcrime

Awesome quote: "EVERY song by the parlafunkadelicment thang changed my life in some way or another."

Thanks, man. I don't know what that RVision poster's deal was. If you can't listen to "Longer Way Around" and hear the magic in it and how it would change someone's life, you ought to re-evaluate your ability to absorb music.

You're right. Every Parliament/Funkadelic track is ridiculously badass and raw in some way or another. George Clinton is vastly underrated.

  • @DreTam2000 WOW! the KOOKS have taken over the MOTHERSHIP, george has really screwed up now

  • Words cannot describe what this song has done for me. I just discovered it less than a week ago, and I must say, it has changed my life; truly inspired me to take my music to another level. Two songs have done this to me recently. "Electro-cuties," from Funkadelic's *Electric Spanking* LP, and "Long Way Around," from Parliament's *Trombipulation* LP. The former has changed my life instrumentation-wise and performance-wise, while the latter has changed my life vocally. Truly amazing stuff..

  • @DreTam2000 you need church pal

  • @regvision

You wanna explain to me just what the hell you're talkin' about?

I don't fool around with religions. I hate churches and I hate religions. Try again...

  • @DreTam2000 what kind of lkife changing inspiration can you get from LONG WAY AROUND? and electro cuties please explain that one pal was it for the good or the bad because you seem to have alot of hate in you to have been changed for the positive.

  • @regvision

LOL, you just asked, "What kind of life-changing inspiration can you get from LONG WAY AROUND?" Wow... if you are this thick, I can readily see what would make you a person not worth answering or explaining to.

And for your information... to do away with religions and churches is in itself a "positive" thing. For starters...

You also asked how "Electro-cuties" changed my life. In my original post, I stated that one changed me instrumental-wise, and the other vocal-wise..

  • @DreTam2000 P-Funk music has a way of doing that. Touching people in ways you'd least expect. Keep P-Funkin'

  • @DreTam2000 right there with ya man - I was fortunate enough to have been around when it came out

  • ACTUALLY I BOUGHT THIS RECORD IN 1980 - JUST BECAUSE I LIKED THE COVER ... BOTH COVER AND MUSIC ARE GREAT !!!

  • Flipmode Squad - Money Talks!

  • I been seeking this song cd since 1985. Thank you for posting this. Are there any cds of Trombipulation--->Parilament

  • @MrJamesDillard - The only Trombiplulation cds I've seen are expensive imports. You can get a vinyl copy on Ebay at a reasonable price.

  • @MrJamesDillard-The only way to get Trombipulation these days is to seek out the Japanese box set known as the Casablanca Years 1974-1980. It appears in mini-LP form. It is also available separately in the same format.

  • I love this song, especially on the breakdown when the female background singers sing "ooooh what would fun doooooooooo" Chill-inducing.

  • fun will take the long way around! hey funkateers, can you tell me what song it is that goes "do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it to meeeee" i can't find it for the life of me and i dont have my discography on me...

  • @intheekeyofcrime

It sounds to me like you are speaking of "Electro-cuties" from Funkadelic's *Electric Spanking of War Babies* album. One goddamn amazing song. Wow (chaotic genius music at its finest; but then so is "Long Way Around")...

  • @intheekeyofcrime I think the track you might be looking for is "Pleasures Of Exhaustion" by George Clinton, from his album entitled "Some of My Best Jokes are Friends"

  • Love it!

  • Brang me that groove

And that thang that U shake,

    Thang that U shake,

    Thang that U SHAKE!!

  • Come wit Peek-a-Groove next!!!

  • I love this song.....I've been looking for it soo long......Thanks for posting!

  • good post I still have this album in my record collection.

  • Long Way Around, a genius track from a

    supreme George Clinton album

  • Long Way Around,a distinguished track from a quinttessential George Clinton album-Trombibulation.
