The beauty of the "P": one minute they "tear the roof off the muthasucka" and the next, they give you innocent crystals like this and "Motor Booty Affair". Search the latter for more beauty.

I am truly beginning to notice now, just how a lot of funk songs are simply modern-day advanced negro spirituals disguised as funk ballads. How clever and soulfully uplifting. Each track is practically a mini-poem with key phrases and melodic chants we don't arrive at until the end of the song, which forces us to listen and pay thorough attention the whole way through, and makes each minute of the (be it a long or short) song relevant. Whoa..
i dunno why i see some bickering in the comments section of a parliament song... for the record, EVERY song by the parlafunkadelicment thang changed my life in some way or another. PEACE YALL.
Awesome quote: "EVERY song by the parlafunkadelicment thang changed my life in some way or another."
Thanks, man. I don't know what that RVision poster's deal was. If you can't listen to "Longer Way Around" and hear the magic in it and how it would change someone's life, you ought to re-evaluate your ability to absorb music.
You're right. Every Parliament/Funkadelic track is ridiculously badass and raw in some way or another. George Clinton is vastly underrated.
Words cannot describe what this song has done for me. I just discovered it less than a week ago, and I must say, it has changed my life; truly inspired me to take my music to another level. Two songs have done this to me recently. "Electro-cuties," from Funkadelic's *Electric Spanking* LP, and "Long Way Around," from Parliament's *Trombipulation* LP. The former has changed my life instrumentation-wise and performance-wise, while the latter has changed my life vocally. Truly amazing stuff..
@DreTam2000 what kind of lkife changing inspiration can you get from LONG WAY AROUND? and electro cuties please explain that one pal was it for the good or the bad because you seem to have alot of hate in you to have been changed for the positive.
LOL, you just asked, "What kind of life-changing inspiration can you get from LONG WAY AROUND?" Wow... if you are this thick, I can readily see what would make you a person not worth answering or explaining to.
And for your information... to do away with religions and churches is in itself a "positive" thing. For starters...
You also asked how "Electro-cuties" changed my life. In my original post, I stated that one changed me instrumental-wise, and the other vocal-wise..
@MrJamesDillard-The only way to get Trombipulation these days is to seek out the Japanese box set known as the Casablanca Years 1974-1980. It appears in mini-LP form. It is also available separately in the same format.
fun will take the long way around! hey funkateers, can you tell me what song it is that goes "do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it to meeeee" i can't find it for the life of me and i dont have my discography on me...
It sounds to me like you are speaking of "Electro-cuties" from Funkadelic's *Electric Spanking of War Babies* album. One goddamn amazing song. Wow (chaotic genius music at its finest; but then so is "Long Way Around")...
@intheekeyofcrime I think the track you might be looking for is "Pleasures Of Exhaustion" by George Clinton, from his album entitled "Some of My Best Jokes are Friends"
What would fun do? ... Fun will take the longer way around.

@MrJamesDillard - The only Trombiplulation cds I've seen are expensive imports. You can get a vinyl copy on Ebay at a reasonable price.

I love this song, especially on the breakdown when the female background singers sing "ooooh what would fun doooooooooo" Chill-inducing.
