I am truly beginning to notice now, just how a lot of funk songs are simply modern-day advanced negro spirituals disguised as funk ballads. How clever and soulfully uplifting. Each track is practically a mini-poem with key phrases and melodic chants we don't arrive at until the end of the song, which forces us to listen and pay thorough attention the whole way through, and makes each minute of the (be it a long or short) song relevant. Whoa..

Thanks, man. I don't know what that RVision poster's deal was. If you can't listen to "Longer Way Around" and hear the magic in it and how it would change someone's life, you ought to re-evaluate your ability to absorb music.

You're right. Every Parliament/Funkadelic track is ridiculously badass and raw in some way or another. George Clinton is vastly underrated.

Words cannot describe what this song has done for me. I just discovered it less than a week ago, and I must say, it has changed my life; truly inspired me to take my music to another level. Two songs have done this to me recently. "Electro-cuties," from Funkadelic's *Electric Spanking* LP, and "Long Way Around," from Parliament's *Trombipulation* LP. The former has changed my life instrumentation-wise and performance-wise, while the latter has changed my life vocally. Truly amazing stuff..
