This film is brilliant and probably Jet Li's best film. Great fighting and characters and also emotional. It was made in 1986 but such a good film despite the low budget it was created at.

I'd say it's his best film for fighting and it has the best story but elements of the narrative could have been developed more (such as historical detail in the conversations).

I think the film could have been improved by filming the needle scene in a way that wasn't graphic.

There could have been more depth provided to the Western characters so as to not seem like an anti-West film.

The concept was great but the execution was lacking. If Tsui Hark made it, it would be a different story.

the boxer didn't use many straight jabs. would've changed the entire course of the fight. i would really love to see how jet would defend against fast and direct straight jabs.
