Aliens and animated dolls in sf are often code for an underprivileged class, ethnicity or gender (c/f the repellent use of 'muppet' for someone with learning difficulties). Interspex is an appeal for tolerance. So it's a shock to have it pointed out that the pic for Tvoul cries out "Japan". Abject apologies--no racism was meant by this. It was meant to portray an ordinary girl--the point was the plastic heads. I'd replace this pic if I could keep the link and view-count, but I can't.
