Yes. Jagjit explained the difference between aspects of Urdu poetry GHAZAL & NAZM, quite well. She also rendered weel Please watch a NAZM (Syed Razi Titrmizi) in the voice of Khalid Asghar by searching YouTube; Words "Ae Meray Pagal Dil" and post your technical comment.
In nazam u have one idea in continuation..evry prose has to be seen in contex for its true meaning..BUT..it is possible tht every shair carry its own individual meaning as well...
in ghazal thr is no bound of number of ashaar..although every prose has diiferent idea from each other but still thr is a connection..the theme in two or more prose can be in somehow carry same idea.e.g
there is a problem with the explaination, there can never be an even number to the number of ash'aar of a ghazal, they have to be 3, 5, 7,9 11, and so on. also the number can be over 5 so that is incorrect as well. he is a legend singer though!
Whoever gave you this info is incorrect. There is "no" stated number of Ashaar to a Ghazal. It is entirely up to the Shayar. Those who lay out such technicalities are far away from Takhayyul and Tasavvur of the Poetry :)

This Nazam's poet is Sadar Rajinder Nath 'Rehbar" from Pathankot
and not Kaifi Azami as it is given here. Please correct the mistake.

e.g
faiz poem
Jo tujh se ehd-e-wafa ustawar rakhtay hain
Ilaj-e-Gardishay Lail o Nahar rakhtay hain..
it has ots own meaning as well as in context..

for ghalib ghazal
Chipak raha hai badan per, lahoo se pairahan
humari jaib ko ab hajat--e-rafoo kia hai
Jala hai jism jahan dil bhi jal gay ho ga
Kuraidatay ho jo ab raakh justajo kia hai..
u can see some connection...
though apparently not as clear as in nazams..
