I just wish the "Kill Bill" asshats would all go drink draino. There was a world here before you came along with really cool shit before you came along and found something that someone else stole.
@Misterio2K: This is the main one I remember also. I don't really remember the older episodes. My friend Fran liked the fact that they had a character with her name. :)
(continued from previous comment) -duced of the entire series (i. e. "The Rolling Y") to underscore the title clip opening as seen here, as well as it's closing credits clip.
One correction: this is NOT Quincy Jones' in-studio performance of his initial arrangement which was created and used for the 1967 NBC Made For Television Motion Picture that led to the production of the Ironside television series, but this is as much if not more of a classic than that one! This is Q's Edit of his in-studio recording with full orchestra of his second arrangement of the piece. The Edit was used from the first episode of the fall 1971 season on through to the very last one pro
I remember E.G. Marshall guest-starred with Red Buttons on the Cosby Show episode CLIFF & JAKE(Bill Cosby and Buttons). The characters played by Buttons and Marshall have finally ended an extended feud after learning that one's son is engaged to the other's daughter.
Right there at 0:33 ... the visual of Chief Ironside aiming the gun at the viewer ... and the music ... perfect combination. Unbearably cool ... Quincy Jones really rocked here.
Right you are! @ 0:33 I used to be scared as a little kid with that gun pointed @ you & those creepy, glaring @ you crimson/black images! lol!...the theme was hard-hitting & gave the series some memorable life
This is the REAL theme.

I worked in a music store in the '70s and saw the sheet music. It was written by Oliver Nelson.

You can see why they revised this - the way the graphics are timed it looks as if Raymond Burr is starring in a show called EG Marshall!

This is the theme I remember hearing when I was around 5 or 6 years old. I heard the 60's version on re-runs.

This is actually the opening title from season five (1971-'72), after Barbara Anderson left the series and was succeeded by Elizabeth Baur.
