"Gene Vincent was a musician decades ahead of his peers. Earthier than Elvis Presley, more sensual than Jerry Lee Lewis, sexier than Buddy Holly, Gene was the embodiment of the libidinous, defiant tension upon which rock 'n' roll was founded and continues to flourish. In rock history, it was Gene Vincent who first donned the all black leather stage gear that's since become a punk rock and heavy metal hallmark".
Check out the video with Paul Peek the original guitar player for gene vincent, this video is 50 years later,He was so well respected in the guitar world that Paul Mccartney of the Beatles sent him a video of Paul, wishing Paul Peek a happy birthday, and Jeff Beck sent him a fender telecast and a fender amp for his last birthday,Paul passed away a few years ago, here is the link,we were doing a benifit for needy children.Go to my page and scan down to you see the video that says Paul Peek.
That's Russell Wilaford on Esquire,& Paul Peek playing rhythm guitar. On the record actually playing lead was Cliff Gallup[Gretsch duo jet] & Willie Williams played rhythm.
1956 - that's 55 years ago and we're still listening to it and it still sounds as fresh as ever - that would be like listening to music in 1956 made in 1901... ?!?! While the last fifty years has seen unprecedented innovation in electronics it appears it has seen very little in musical development. Everything you hear now - as over-produced as most of it is - you could hear then in embryo. The decade after WWII was a golden age for rock, blues and jazz.
No microphones. No amps. Gotta love what the '50's considered music videos.

quite amazing..Vincent certainly had a wonderous voice and the best band of the lot..
shame americans seemed to lose interest in the founders of rock'n'roll just to move
on to something new...listen to his 'Peace of Mind' recording to hear his quite
beautiful singing .................
