My father asked me if this clip is from the orginal movie called `Heavy Metal`jw cause I was thinking of dling it for him since he`s an old man who needs to be rejuvinated. Can someone help me perhaps?
@SadisticMushroom The video is from the Japanese anime show called Gundam. The movie Heavy Metal was an animated film released in 1981 featuring a variety of voice actors, many from SCTV, and a really cool soundtrack. Instead of downloading it, get the DVD/Bluray (makes a great gift) plus its got a cool deleted scene and other info on the movie. It's one of my favorite movies, I watch it just about as often as the original Dawn of the Dead, which is pretty often...
@SixbyFire Well, these clips are from the movie. Not the show. The movie was apart of the series, char's counterattack. Which came out in 1988. The Orginial Gundam series came out in 1979. Both of which are out in the U.S. as well as Europe in English Dub.

I know who made this -- guy named D. Weaver, who was in fact part of the "Anime-C" club back in Cincinnati in the 90's. I was in that club as well. He did about half a dozen other videos as well, but this was one of his first. Thanks for archiving this, I was hoping to find a copy of it!
@voiceofisaac Awesome info! I also had uploaded "It's the end of the world as we know it by REM", but it was blocked last time I checked. I'm pretty sure it was from the same source as these ones. The tape (VHS) I got way back then had a bunch of other videos on it, and I'm pretty sure there was one on there also done buy the same source using the Duran Duran song a view to a kill using Golgo 13 as its anime, however, the copy wasn't very good.
Awesome song from an kickass cartoon like Heavy Metal and Gundam. But anyone thinks Heavy Metal is similar to Japanimation? i mean stuff like Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend, Wicked City, Akira, Ghost in The Shell, Fist of the North Star, Ninja Scroll, Golgo 13 The Professional etc.
Well sci-fi and fantasy (particulary of the epic sort) were the inspiration for most of the anime you mentioned as was HeavyMetal. I can't think of any cartoon nowadays that has sci-fi fantasy as genre for an entire series. I doubt Heavy Metal had any direct anime influences, since it was an American-Canadian co production.
I mean both anime and Heavy Metal are cartoons for mature audiences. But would you compare HM to the raunchy sexy and gore feasts of anime such as Wicked City or the infamous NC-17 rated hentai film Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend?
Anyway, I ended up with this and a bunch more AMV's when I worked at OfficeMax near Cleveland in the early to mid 90's. One guy worked part time there when he wasn't in school near Cincinnati. We talked about anime and he lent me some anime videos, including these AMV's. I also gave him an AMV I made and he brought it back with him. For the life of me I have no idea what school he went too, what his name was, or the name of the guy who made these was...
Eh, thats alright. If you don't know your sort of not supposed to anyways but, I personally have no clue as to anything in Ohio either. LOL. Strange indeed and of my recollection I'd like to guess his name.... I'm just guessing as to who but, would his name have been Jamie or Jeff? White dude, kind of big but not exactly over-weight. Brown or Blonde hair...
I wouldn't know, I never met the guy who made it, anyway, I'm sure he'll turn up eventually. I do remember that he used to go to anime conventions and show some of this AMV's though, however, my guess is they were private showings as opposed to being shown "at con" so to speak.
Yeah, that makes sense that they were not shown at conventions. Considering the fact that in the early to mid 90's Anime was still being introduced to american viewers and as for "Cosplay" or stuff like that... close to or just non-existant at the time.
I meant the guy who worked part time at OfficeMax near Cleveland. Can you describe him ot what? WHOA! Earth quake at my house right now!!! Gotta go!
I remember he had brown or dark hair, maybe 5'5" or maybe 5'7" or so, average build, for the life of me I can't remember his name or anything, I'm thinking Chris or something, but I may be way, way off...
Well I don't know him either, sorry. Also... there was just an Earthquake at my house. Sounded like something impacted and cause it though. I didn't see anything and nothing is broke so now I'm asking myself "WTF?!" LOL, if it was an aircraft then great job Edwards Airforce Base on somekind of new epic form of Stealth. Heard nothing until the quake, wasn't bad either. Maybe a 2.8 at the most but still.

1st off, great song, but what makes u think that playing a video of some anime whould make this better in any way? what band thinks that oh, if i play this to anime it whould make this song better?
The band Daft Punk did it with their song One More Time. Also, I didn't make this, it was made back in the early 90's by unknown person(s), possibly as part of an anime club in Cincinnati, Ohio. I only uploaded it to keep a sort of historical record of old anime music videos that used to be passed around on VHS tapes during anime conventions before the internet was around.
Actually, the entire CD for Interstellar 5555 was an anime produced to accompany the songs and tell a story with music and without dialogue. A modern Heavy Metal, basically.
Firstly and formost, AMVs are an art of story telling, making you feel like the song is about the video, and if you dont get that, you have no buisness watching them let alone posting a comment.
Secondly i do not feel this song goes with video very well, my interpertation is not about the war, but the pov of the singer comeing to a realization that it must come to an end.
Don't hate, I've heard of a lot of older Bands I wouldn't have if it was not for these AMV's, not to mention Animes I'd of never heard of if I hadn't been scanning for the song.
If you don't like it then either don't look for it, or just minimize the video. However, I have to admit I'm fighting the urge to point out the fallacy in your argument. If everyone thought like yourself then we'd of never had great Music videos.
whoever made this video, this is their interpretation of a video that would go well with the song. If you don't like it don't watch it but there is nothing wrong with putting music to anime. So quit bitching.
Yeah, but why does all anime look like Speed Racer? Either there is one guy in Japan who is filthy rich because he's getting a lot of work or there are a lot of wholly unoriginal cartoonists in Japan. I don't mean any disrespect mind you, I just don't see much originality in anime.
Somebody Please do a GOOD anime of BOC's "joan crawford" "the CULT is way out there on some of there stuff .. as if they are experts on ptsd before it was invented!
This song is from the motion picture Heavy Metal and the Vid is in fact from the Original Mobile Suit Gundam from the early days of Gundam. Good stuff but the original clip from Heavy metal goes better!
Hmm, I only vaguely remember Gundam, but it's still one of the only Animes I like.

@SixbyFire, John Candy did many voices in the movie. This is the classic song by the Blue Oyster Cult.
I recall viewing this in `91 or `92 while attending Auburn University. It was my first exposure to Japanime - as it was called at the time.
