Even if a passenger was able to sneak a weapon onto a plane, there would be no possible way to enter the cockpit and take over that plane. If there is no way that a person can use that plane as a missile, there is no threat to national security.
Blowing up a plane would be a tragedy but so would blowing up a public bus full of people. Or a ship. Or a train. Or the use of a bomb anywhere with harmful intent. Are we going to body scan everyone that uses any type of public transportation?

Including the part of the Amendment you left out, a sworn official must sign a warrant for the security of one's person to be violated lawfully. A deptartment of the Federal gov't has made policy requiring those engaged in a private or personal activity at locations so equipped to undergo revealing and invasive searches, or be fined. That doesn't seem to contravene the 4th Amend. to you?

@herzogsbuick the constitution and bill of rights is not a Holy Document of Ultimate Authority written by Prophets who could foresee the future - so yes, I think that a better argument is needed. you're probably referring to "The right of the people to be secure in their persons...against unreasonable searches and seizures..." So then it's up to us to decide whether or not it is reasonable, and arguments like "don't touch my junk" and "the constitution doesn't like it" are not helpful reasoning.

Also, you did not mention the alternative of using a simple scanning device, which is clearly more reasonable than the suggestion of the TSA putting their hands down the pants of children and the elderly.

@djancak lol do you know what an Amendment is? Furthermore, it /is/ the US's document of ultimate authority. Including the part of the Amendment you left out, a sworn official must sign a warrant for the security of one's person to be violated lawfully. A deptartment of the Federal gov't has made policy requiring those engaged in a private or personal activity at locations so equipped to undergo revealing and invasive searches, or be fined. That doesn't seem to contravene the 4th Amend. to you?

Call an airline up and tell them your going to use all you flyer points on car rentals and hotels and never fly again. I called Alaska Airlines and told CS about this, I was one of hundreds that day that had called and told them that btw.

I don't know if it means anything at all. But local news and radio news here in San Francisco, were diminishing the seriousness of body scanners and groping all day long. They were pretty much only showing the airport flyers who said "oh yea I have no problem with this at all!" or "it makes me safer! I like it!" To me it was very weird that the news keep minimizing this liberty attack.
