@beng1lh00ly Haha. The brass player is really going for it even though there`s no more music. The drummer as well. Even Mark does a bit of bass. Pebble Mill really was a crap programme!!! It`s a shame because these guys can play live.
when i was a teen in the late 80s i had the greatest admiration for the quality of music from Level 42. I Back then i saw maybe three pictures of them in total as they were not too well known in the USA. But now that there is more visual depictions of these guys now that I am in my 30s when i see some of these videos of Mark King I feel unable to concentrate on the music. So sexy he can knock a woman down. It makes me feel like and feel sorry for 18 year old males tbh.
I remember watching this! I was about 15 at the time and loved Level 42. I think my friends were into Take That at the time, give me Mark and Mike anyday!
Drums are never mimed. they will be played. everything else can be mimed or not to what's decided on the day. but because there's no mics or they aren't switched on you just hear the drum track on the CD stems.
it's a 5 string "Empathy" model Status. It was made in the early 90's. I have one just like it complete with the L.E.D's. It is an absolutely fantastic bass!
Looks like they're puttin' a bit of overtime for some extra cash to get buy with BBC's pebble mill, an old and antiquated recording studio! Well that takes care of the old school. For those younguns among us... this is great and a little bit nostalgic for what is a great band and what will continue to be for a long time. Enjoy...
This is a great song and i remember hearing it at the Hammersmith odeon gigs which Titchmarsh was talking about there on Dec 15th 1990.And i love the bass not very often you see mark miming with the status matrix empathy 5 string.
Hey! That's a 5 string bass!!!

I was there that day- Mark called me as I used to live in Brum and invited me over!
We couldn't go for drinks that night as the band had to rush to Scotland as Mark was on Zig and Zag the next morning:)
Fab guy!!

Very unusual to see MK playing a 5 string. Being known for their superb live shows they must have hated having to mime for tv.
gdv42 3 years ago
If this is mimed, like most other TV recordings, how does Gary Husband or Phil Gould mime on Drums, wouldn't the volume of them stand out?

I think anyone who was into them in this era, were just bass players who were into mark king playing, like myself,

That's always something to tell the Grand kids - I gave head to possibly the best bass player in the world.
Who knows, you may even get on Richard & Judy with a story like that.
