  • I have had the complete collection of these recordings for years & while they have survived being copied from one of my computers to another, I had lost the info. So glad to solve the little mystery of the awesome reader!

Mr. Telfer reads all the voices wonderfully, sometimes even having me think there is more than one reader. I absolutely LOVE the voice he gives Holmes :). I have heard many other people read the Canon, & this is far and away the best! This is the Granada of Holmes audiobooks.

  • I'm glad this is on here. The only other copy I found was being read by a southern accented American female. I don't mean to be offensive but I found the slight southern drawl completely contrary to my idea of Watson reading. It is pleasing that these are still as popular as ever.

  • Study in Scarlet was published in 1887, not 1877.

    Hawkings got something wrong!!!

  • I have this entire set and it is absolutely superb, this gentleman(men?) read the entire Holmes canon... best audio books ever.

  • it actually starts at 1:05

  • I would love it if someone tried to do a film or TV adaptation of A Study In Scarlet, although I'm not sure how anyone could do a straight adaptation of the second part of the story

set in America "The Country Of The Saints" with it's un PC over the top depiction of the Mormon religion (to put it mildly) without offending just about anyone of the Mormon faith, that would be interesting to see; to say the least IMHO.

  • Jeremy Brett unfortunately didn't live enough...to act this episode of Sherlock Holmes...when he suddenly died...in 1995..

He will remain in Movies History as the best SH ever..... <3

    RIP JB

  • @ChiaraMichela Well said-JB leaves the others in the halfpenny place!

  • What is wrong with the sound?

  • Actually that would be Microsoft Sam. Which just so happens to be the voice that Hawking's special voice reproduction system uses.

  • mono :/

  • Is that Hawkings reading the text?

  • mr hawkins?

  • excellent!

  • wtf?

  • BRILLIANT!! Thanks;-]

  • thank you soooo much i had a copy but never knew who the narrator was he is great.

  • Lol, at first I thought Steven Hawking was gonna read us the whole thing.
