thank you KohrsFM for uploading Survivorman, on demand doesn't have this any more, so I like sights like this that don't have some link to some crappy website, thank you.
@gracenyc3 It can rot your feet (trench foot) caused by prolonged exposure of the feet to damp, unsanitary and cold conditions. Infections a big issue. Advanced trench foot often involves blisters and open sores, which lead to fungal infections. Can lead to gangrene if it gets bad enough. Always remember any injury in survival situations are magnified.
If you get wet and don't dry in a long time, you get what's called soldier's feet or trench feet. If your skin is damp all the time it will dry out and cause foot fungus and eventually if it's not treated or dried you will get sores and other symptoms that have a likeness to what you get frostbite. Your feet turns blue or red, your skin peels off and eventually you will lose your toes.
Take the car battery. Go up the attic. Bring your food, battery, water and some flammable material. Light a fire when you need to cook. You can always do an enema if the water is undrinkable. Might be painful but it works.
@Welocy dont forget, open a window or have a small opening if you're gonna COOK FOOD INDOORS. that fire will kill you with carbon monoxide if you dont have an opening to release the byproducts of fire.
@gracenyc3 yes it's true. it happened to me in the military when we did survival training in the brunei jungle. my feet got infected later when we reached our base and i still struggle to cure myself of the foot rot till this day. lesson learned, always, always keep your feet DRY!
0:51, that's why you need to buy a high quality/waterproof flashlight like an average maglite or something, no sense in buying those sheeple flashlights.
@Shampoo450 Not always the easiest things to find. Often we're not doing arts in crafts in Operations. That, and usually some other department always seemed to "borrow" our stuff. : P
oh man that's crazy....If a flood were to hit I think I much rather prefer being in an office building, seems like having a food vendor and some office supplies can come in handy
The young and then elderly live a month without food in many parts of the world. It's not safe but it can be done. As far as the athlete goes, they simply burn fat first and at a higher rate. Their bodies would adjust in a few days just like everyone else. The body will provide energy by metabolizing fat stores. Water is by far the most important thing. Without water you can died with all the food in the world around you. I teach foraging and survival. It's not about food. It's about water.
@KohrsFM one week fasts are very common, and good for you, even 40 day fasts, yes 40 days, and I mean true fasts, nothing but water, seriously, look it up.
I SWEAR to you that you won't be able to walk after a week.

EatTheWeeds was right,
A man of 450 pounds as been able to survive 1year and a couple of month without food just by taking nutriment from his fat. He lost a awful lot of weight. "He was also under medical attention to make the test safe..."
@KohrsFM it's said you can survive a month without food if you JUST have water in your system...Water in living things last them longer than food. But yeah, I doubt after week, your body will be of much use.

Food is not the issue at all. You can live a month without food. Drinking water is the key issue. An office building might have bottled water.
EatTheWeeds 2 years ago 6
It also has sprinklers,
living a month without food that's something you say to the average man, during a survival that's not an option you should think about and not worry
can't say that to a child, an elderly or someone who has an athletes metabolism.
your already getting a lack of sleep the important thing you need in a situation like being stuck in an office that's being flooded is having energy.

sprinklers are from the same water source as tap. So no, its not an advantage.
