  • Mac OS9 ftw

  • in my opinion gpc sounds better on the c64

  • I do the same thing as retrorerun in shipping disks to and from a real Apple. ADTPro on a Linux box and a IIe with 3.5" drives over serial. It handles all the usual formats! This is because I didn't have the requisite Mac with compliant disk drive.

I do miss having ProDOS filesystem support from MacOS, having MacOS X. I think it'd be convenient for images, even today.

  • Ah, good ol' reset modifier lag—a little detail that bugged me right away about the IIgs. It takes too long to look at the command and option keys after reset; so you have to stand on it for a moment after letting go of ctrl-reset. (You can actually release ctrl-reset before pressing command.)

  • So you are saying that this one program will not even run using the Classic environment on PowerPC Macs in Mac OS X 10.1-t0.4?

  • Honestly, I haven't tried it.... using an emulator in an emulator in an emulator would be interesting...

  • Well, an emulator within virtual machine. A dream within a dream? Poe computing. ;P

If it does work, i would expect the emulator to be unable to see an old-style floppy drive, as OSX has no driver for them. [grumble]

Which brings me to a question: Is it that OSX doesn't support the ProDOS filesystem at all? Or is it just the lack of support for the old drive interface—and consequently 800k-capable drives (as i suspect that all of at least the non-Apple USB drives are 1440/720 only)?

  • MacOS X doesn't have any support for ProDOS filesystems. Furthermore, I think all the usual USB floppy drives, depending on which one you get, only do HD (1440k). Some will do DD, but they're getting harder to find as time goes on.

  • that is awesome.

  • Have you seen ADTPro? It does disk transfers to and from the Apple II and PCs/Macs/Linux boxen.
