  • Clapton is great but is NOT God. I knew he was Anglican but I didn't know he was of the Anlgo-Catholic variety.

  • The bass player in this video is john mayers .... John Mayer Trio Bass Guitar player ;-)

  • @loushky619 I'm pretty sure that Mayer doesnt have exclusive ownership of Pino Palladino. Either way, a fantastic bass player he is. Look him up here on youtube, there's so many fantastic performances with all the greatest contemporary musicians.

  • @pt96rkr Yes I will , cheers dude .

  • So BEAUTIFUL. I cried

  • Thanks Eric I have tears coming down but they are full of emotion...

  • clapton knows how to start solo with the best note that can be...

  • This song reminds me of my dad and the good times we spent together.............Holy mother can't keep from crying...............

  • Thank you

  • Luciano Pavarotti and Eric Clapton are two of the most brilliant musics in the wole

world no matter of the Pavarotti s dead in 2007 Rest In Peace

  • this is real music

  • ERIC CLAPTON = GOD

  • @vukdj1996

GOD DOES NOT PRAY TO HOLY MOTHER!

  • Two geniuses!

  • I have been listening to the audio for years and it is one of my ATF's. It never occurred to me till now to look for the video. Stupid me! This is magic! The choir really makes it come alive. Perfect! Goosebumps!

  • 4 people who dont have heart

  • The Greattest guitar player of all times, and the greattest musician ever... ERIC CLAPTON, the best

  • He looked so hot in this period....

  • OMG I've got tears in my eyes. It's amazing, wow!!!! Eric is my hero!

  • Wow man! Where happened this show? Have a DVD?

  • huh.....I knew you rocked way before you did this. I miss you and was amazed by your voice.

  • Gods from 2 different worlds!!

  • I love any song dedicated to our Glorious Lady Theotokos. Plus both singers sound great!!! cheers!!!

  • 4:55 - Look at Pavarotti enjoying Clapton's solo!

  • 4:47 - Look at Pavarotti enjoying Clapton's solo!

  • to you all. just invite holy mother to come into your live, and she is there. i know it, because anytime i speak to her i can feel her motherness. so it is. PERIOD

  • amazing!!!!!!!!wow!!!!

  • How magic to be a part of that audience....... thank you for sharing.

  • Who would think that Eric Clapton (who used to be too shy to sing in front of his band mates) would hold his own so beautifully with Luciano Pavarotti and how magically Eric's guitar enriches the majesty of this music.

  • idk why, but Eric’s solo in this song sounds sooo holy-ish

  • The Choir instantly breaks into smiles when Luciano begins singing. Joy to the power of music.

  • The guitar solo in this one kills me!!!

  • who is he in the film end?

  • @t3231220edc

the one with the red shirt??

Luciano Ligabue an italian rock singer

  • @strum85 ty :)

  • @WotanKrieger

Doesn't Clapton/Bishop mean that both took part in the writing of the song ? There is nothing that substantiates your claim that the major credits belong to Bishop, and nothing to refute my suggestion that eric might have been triggered by some words, wrote most of the song and graciously mentioned Bishop. Even if I'm a retard that's still true.

I didn't read the liner notes, you didn't read Eric's own words.

  • @WotanKrieger

If the major credits for the lyrics (major credits ?? How do you know ? That's not a legal term) belong to Bishop, that means Clapton wrote the music and some of the lyrics.

Conclusion: the song is about what Clapton says it's about and he used some words that triggered him.

  • WOW!!!

  • Pavarotti probably the best opera singer of all time, but he looks weird when he sings...but still an awesome singer...Clapton to me is the best guitar player,he is my idol

  • Clapton isn't God but he's certainly a gift from God.

  • Written by Stephen Bishop.

  • @fortehlulz9999

    no, written by Eric.

  • @petervankan1 Wrong, motherfucker.

    songfacts . com /detail . php?id=14168

  • @fortehlulz9999 why does having read Eric's autobiography make me a motherfucker ?

singfacts is in fact wrong. Eric wrote the song. Or at least clearly states so and tells the reader about the circumstances form which the inspiration came. So unless you want to cleam that he lied and stole the song from Stephan, that's the story.

  • @petervankan1 Make that stupid motherfucker. Bishop wrote the song with Bishop. That is a known fact. Whoever wrote the biography omitted that fact. On "August" the credits read Eric Clapton/Stephen Bishop. Get your head out of your ass.

  • @fortehlulz9999

    Let me help you:

1 an aurobiography is written by the person whose life is desc ribed in the book.

2 'Bishop wrote the song with Bishop' ???? His mother perhaps ?

3 If Clapton wrote the song with Bishop, it is wrong to state, as you did, ''Written by Stephen Bishop.'

    Before you call others motherfucker.....

  • @petervankan1 You keep thinking that. It seems that English is not your first language and you're having issues with comprehension, as well. The facts speak for themselves. If you want to be a stupid motherfucker, that is certainly your right. You are wrong and that is that.

  • @fortehlulz9999

As far as I can see you haven't offered one single argument against the 3 points mentioned by me, genius.

  • wow this song is AMAZING erics solo blows me away everytime i lisoten to it love pav's lil smile at the end what a song :D

  • I have always LOVED this song! I LOVE Pavarotti too. So sad that he is gone. It makes me cry each time I listen to it because it is so BEAUTIFUL! When I came to the section in EC's Autobiography about Holy Mother..... the emotion heard in this song is so GLORIOUS. When EC explained about this song, it hit me so HARD that I knew I must favorite this. Incredible with EC, Pavarotti, choir, and orchestra combined. BRILLIANT!

  • So very beautiful. The power of music surely surged inthe hearts of the people with the love and devotion to Our Blessed Mother.

  • I am delighted. That's such a beautiful performance and interpretation.

  • So very powerful......could listen each and every day....

  • it would suck to have to follow that, great solo by Clapton also!

  • The title fully describes the performance. . .

  • 4:56 pavarotti ain't got words to express all this

  • Congratulations, richard for the stoic act, thank you eric for the amazing homage!!!!

  • Beautiful

BTW I know the Canadian man who made you.

  • cudowne !!! - wonderfull !!!

  • Wow. I have never heard such glorious music coming from a guitar before in my life and since I'm sixty I've heard some rockin guitar sounds before. A lifetime fan of yours, Eric Clapton, this uber-Catholic cannot imagine the Queen of Peace not honoring your request after you have so honored her.

  • i think pavarotti's voice doesn't mix with the other sounds, this is such a beatiful song, but pavarotti is waay to much exxageration, it would have been better if eric clapton had sung this song alone

  • @scionihilscire Are you an idiot or just deaf?

  • @scionihilscire

I can see where you're coming from. There is a very big difference Clapton's and Pavarotti's voices, but I think, in this case, it serves to the emotion and feeling of the song. If, for example, they tried doing Layla together, it would be a train-wreck, but with this specific song, it works better than otherwise. It pushes it past the boundary that stops must of us mortals :)

  • no words ... beautiful.

  • i'm speechless.

  • i like him so much. such a beatiful song!

  • beatiful song

  • Does anyone know if the Clap did this without the fat geezer ?

  • @housecarl6 you ignorant cock sucker post your home address so i can give you a colombian necktie.

  • @muddack Don`t need a neck tie mate. Your probably as fat as lucy anyway.,Shut up and keep eating you dreamer!

  • @housecarl6 pavarotti died

  • thank you for posting this song

  • beautiful voice eric clapton

  • Guv'nor nails it, per usual..Pavarotti a bit much...still great craic...the gospel choir, and full orchestra, ace!..a timeless song, of gut-bustin' croon, by a couple of Masters!.."...Holy Mother, hear my prayer...help me please, find peace of mind...take away this pain." no more pain, only a glorious fireball of heat, and light and ..Clappo's guitar riffs, always magic, right to the heart! ...jillystrong!:)

  • der maestro mit gott

  • Sorry guys, Clapton nailed it, solo and all, Pavarotti ruined it for me.

  • pavarotti resterai smp nel cuore degli italiani...!!!hello !!!

  • Sencillamente de otra dimensión!

  • Best song ever. Luciano owned it. RIP Brother

  • Ooh, that guitar solo. It just gets me. It's so beautiful, and this is such and amazingly powerful song.

  • there is absolutely noone who can play guitar like eric clapton, he plays some good stuff, and he plays some ok stuff, but some of the stuff he plays is litterally from the heavens, my god what a solo and all with his eyes closed, and pavarotti what a voice, what a combination!!!! such a powerful song but ONLY because these 2 make it so!!!

  • It brings tears to my eyes... the power of the two together...

  • pavarotti....!

  • Holy cow - is that PINO PALLADINO on bass?!?!?

  • @DavidCasper

    yeah, he is

  • holy mother where are you?

  • thats parvoroti you complete dumbass!!

  • i see yu have no idea what irony means, its supposed to involve some sort of humour

  • Admit your limitations..embrace your redardnes stop say you where trying to be funny

its not working the fourth time.. when you say its special english humor does not work either just ask politely

this fat man was a famous opera singer, hes name was Luciano Pavarotti he had a so called tenór type of voice, just ask if you need to know more,

you can learn, for instance about the Norman conquest of england in 1066.and how the british always always will be slaves

  • Nobody cares about the year 1066 exept you you are obsesed with the year of the Norman conquest of your country..

  • Strange nerve system in you pomies, a comment to housecarl6 is answered by your stamfordbridge1066 persona

  • @housecarl6 What's wrong with ya?

  • It would seem that somewhere, sometime over the years, someone taught Eric Clapton how to sing. Very polished. Beautiful song.

  • the singer is really good. he completely over shadowed clapton. and i love clapton lol

  • It would be interesting if this were Heaven's choir...lol

  • Holy mother indeed!

  • OMG HES MR FREEMAN!!!111

  • in your arms tonight, yes please

  • Okay,,,Irish 1,044,099,022 DISGRACE. There is hope for you ...naw, you're a dope! Lost cause man.

  • Hey Irish... I'm Irish! You have a very low EQ. I know you have no idea what that means. That is because you also have a very low IQ.. That means; you're a dumb-ass, meat head.

  • @irishdude114 I'd just hope you grow to regret what you just said. I know it's cliche but true when you hear "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." You have no clue as to how bad some in this world have it & yet you (hiding behind computer anonymity ) come off as if those who lost a loved ones or are in tremendous pain are so much better off then you because of their faith in God. I hope you will come to regret it without having to lose a loved one or your health.

  • Such an unexpected duo.

    Awesome!

  • Thank You! This is beautiful!

  • Beautiful. I'm sure she loved it.

  • Amazing.

  • i have this song on my computer and i can hear this over and over like 100 times.

probably the best song i have ever heard!

  • same

  • From 3:28-3:31 just gives me chills. I love this song very much cause of the passion Eric puts into the guitar. God bless you EC and may your music live on forever!

  • @Izlude7 fuck you

  • was looking for this particular version, had it on an old VHS, helped me through some tough times. Thanks for posting.

  • An orchestra. A gospel choir. A virtuoso guitarist. Probably the greatest opera singer of his time. C'est parfait, non?

  • Moron

  • 2 great peformers and 1 great song truly amazing.

  • Beautiful and emotional. Nadine

  • think so

  • Is there a version of this without Pavorotti on ?

  • Yep. Original version is on the album "August".

  • yes, Eric Clapyon does it solo

  • one of my favourite songs.

  • inspiring

  • nice song

  • Written for Richard Manuel of The Band after he committed suicide.

  • Very soothing. This melody has some bars that sound like the closing love song from Princess Bride.

  • Eric Clapton 4 Life

I love him To death Relaxing BLues

  • stupendo duetto...fantastici....

  • Incredible version! God bless them!

  • Combination of two brillant artists. This song has lifted me up in many dark times. Love the memory. Vale Luciano.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • I play this song when I can't sleep. This is the best version of it I have ever seen. Didn't know it existed. Thanks. It really is a vision of heaven.

  • exactly this version helped me gettin' through a lot of dark and endless nights. ec, love your lyrics, your voice, your projects, your god-like guitar... keep on playin' the blues for me - you are tremendous and will always be 4 me, especially live...

  • I also have the "Pavarotti and friends for war child" CD. This song is beautiful, goes straight to your heart. Thank you, and rest in peace Pavarotti.

  • This solo is the best played for this song! damn!

  • yeah i agree, this is the best version of this song ever!, it's just great!, clapton is the best! xd

  • i think its great :) two completely different legends fused together :)

  • 신금을 울리는 에릭할배... 굿!

  • I agree, but its a good try from good old Pav! I think he should be given his due, afterall he is a Opera singer and the timming is a bit out.. plus the poor bloke is Italian! I think hes done a pretty good job, but yes I do prefer this song without Pav! Soz!

  • both powerful performers glad to see them on the stage together.

  • damn i cant stop watching this one

  • I think it´s the best version of this song

  • And if there's a heaven or a life after and if it presents anything as beautiful as this

    it will be all ok.

God bless, Luciano & long life Eric Clapton.

  • Why do people try to draw comparisons on performances when great artists perform together? Pure ignorance.

These fine men, world class for all time artists are completely different. There are no parallels whatsoever. Pavaorotti ana amazing voice, this was HIS instrument. Clapton's was his guitar playing prowess. Comparing voices or making any mention of ones versus the other is ridiculous. Just enjoy this wonderful coming together like most people have and will.

  • I think that Eric Clapton is the best of all. He really owns music.

  • Amazin. Pavarotti's voice sends shivers down my spine.

  • I am without words. Thank you for this.

  • epic

  • He had some voice, so powerful compared to CLapton

  • The best performance of this song, hands down.

  • awesome upload thanxs

  • ya he was look it up
