archer used all his prana and almost got his arms ripped off projecting rho aias to tank gae bolg once

@8dolfonrunescape ummmm you know that when Archer was fighting Lancer he had seriously limited prana, right? Because Archer could have UBW'd and spammed an A class Excalibur, a B+ class Caliburn, an A class Durandal, and an B class Caladbolg II... right? In the end, Anti-Castle Phantasms are supposed to be one shot wonders but Archer can use multiples of them easily....

@8dolfonrunescape Limited Prana as in he wasn't in UBW, where his prana capacity is basically unlimited, which is why he was able to hold up against Berserker and do so much damage... You might also notice that Rin wasn't drained of prana to any significant degree when fighting Berserker with Shiro and Saber during Fate. Archer's prana capacity isn't particularly high is what I mean, a gun can't be filled with rockets... unless in UBW. Reality warping =/= prana use.

@shoutenry He doesn't trace Excalibur (sword of the lake) but Caliburn (sword of the stone) which is a weaker sword than Excalibur though they do look similar thus can see where you got the misconception. Like wise with Shirou/saber vs beserker he traced Caliburn their as well. On a side note Archer can't trace something that is not of the world I.E. Ea (a sword made before the creation of the worlds)/Excalibur (a fairy sword).

@Xikkom Ill tell you same as I told Pandor, wasnt in my best mood the day I made that comment and Ive played and own both Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 and 2, 2 was my favorite of them. admittedly It wasnt fair of me to judge the game when i havent played it based on the fact that alot (and I mean a LOT) of the anime based games I have played were just terrible.

Guilty Gear, BlazeBlue, Destrega, sure, and this one isn't "bad" just because it's not as noob-friendly as SF doesn't mean it's bad, you need patience and skill to learn combos, try watching some tournament plays of it before even speaking ill of it please.

But for the record, I do actually like the anime and the special moves are really well animated. Just not really my cup of tea. Saber did it due to her luck and intuition of danger, she took measures before the attack took place, otherwise she wouldn't have survived. Archer never faced the technique...he used his shield vs. a different move that I can't remember atm.

@karbon35 I think the attack is called "The Soaring Spear That Strikes With Death" and lol did saber even I thought it still struck her just not her heart due to her luck and her efforts to avoid it

It is "Thrusting Lance of Death Flight" when he throws it and it's "Piercing Lance of Death Thorns" when he uses it at CQC. Also, you're right, Saber is indeed hit even with her precognition-like instincts and high Luck Stat, she luckily not got struck in the heart but she was unable to continue combat after that. Lancer was under the Command Spell of Kotomine not to kill ANYONE so he just left it at that. F/SN Lancer >> F/Z Lancer, both are badasses though

@karbon35 but Zero lancer has two spears, and plus one spear to cancel any magic objects and another cursed spear, same as Gae bolg, which inflicts unhealable wounds, i would say Zero lancer has the advantage

I was just saying Lancer in Night was more badass, but since you wanna be picky...you can't dodge Night lancer's attack. For Zero's to cancel he needs to have contact btw.

You can't deflect it normally, Archer used the greatest defense against projectiles and even then, Gae Bolg managed to pierce through and dangerously wound Archer, the novel says that his arm is barely still attached to his body and that his mana supply is completely gone, whereas Lancer can use his attack 7 times before even starting to sweat, he survived because Lancer wanted to see for himself who and what Archer really wants, that and also because of Rin.

@MsPandoR didnt Archer used Rho Aias to block the attack??????? well, even though the Gae Bolg was capable to pierce the shield until its last petal, it was pretty impressive, that Archer was capable to create a shield which can withstand Gae Bolg's attack

Yeah, that's what I said, he used Rho Aius which is the greatest defense against projectiles excluding Avalon hax ofc. But even with that, Archer was left severely wounded whereas Lancer didn't even have a scratch and was still able to use his attack 6 times. Archer go as far as to praise Lancer's weapon for being even stronger than the original spear of Odin, Gungnir, isn't that some pure badassery ? =P

@MsPandoR i see, but do underestimate, Archer secret reality marble, Unlimited blade works, once its activated, hes much more faster, he can summon blades anywhere anytime he wishes

It doesn't make him any faster or any stronger, it just allows him to use weapons without tracing them but the huge mana cost prevent him from using it too long, also the summoning takes forever to be completed, anyone aware of it without a reason to let him continue would prevent him from doing so. Also that Reality Marble isn't as reliable as it seems, Gilgamesh wiped it with Ea, Saber could probably blow it away too with Excalibur and so on, it's not THAT OP

@MsPandoR dude, thats why makes Archer stronger than Gilgamesh, he can attack Gilgamesh, before he can use Ea, its all about speed and tactics, even though u have a strong weapon, but u dont have enough time to use it, its pointless, Saber and Gilgamesh has to charge Exaclibur and its quite more convenient for Archer to attack them, while in Unlimited Blade works

Thing is it takes time to set up UBW, if you consider a deadly serious Gilgamesh then Archer is probably screwed, as is every being in the Fate Universe apart from Saber for Avalon and Lancer for Gae Bolg which both can stop Ea, Avalon blocks it and Gae Bolg can kill Gilgamesh before he throws it. However it was pointless to mention Saber as she REALLY don't need Excalibur to win and Excalibur charges rather fast, I dunno how would Rho Aius fare against it though

@MsPandoR dude, Gae Bolg cannot stop Ea, Ea is an anti world noble phantasm, at least Rho Aias can block it temporarily, but not COMPLETELY like Avalon, by the way, Archer has more noble phantasms up his sleeves, while he continues the chant for Unlimited Blade works, Archer can keep hitting Gilgamesh with his noble phantasms while keeping up his incantations to buy him time, seriously, Archer is the only one can defeat Gilgamesh, even though Ea is more powerful than UBW, Archer is more skilled

Also remember that Ea can tear UBW apart so when going up against a deadly serious Gilgamesh he would die I think.

@MsPandoR Ea is indeed powerful than UBW, so the trick is to keep attacking Gilgamesh before he can summon Ea, also, Archer can keep attacking Gilgamesh with several noble phantasms, such as Caladbolg 2, Kanshu and Byakuya, and hunter, and others, to buy him some time to perform the incantation for Unlimited Blade works

@vergilheartnet not really Gil can spam limited amount of swords as he has a set number of them even-though they are a lot he can't release them at the same time but Archer can spam as many as he wishes as long as he has the magical energy and his rivals that of Saber due to his extensive training all of his life.

@megadragonblade yeah, Exactly, but to summon a lot of blades like that takes a lot of mana, so he needs a great master , Rin was a good choice, but i guess ilya would make a great master for Archer, since shes a homunculus

@vergilheartnet well not for Archer cuz his element is unlimited amounts of swords. His whole body is made out of them thus he needs really small amount of magical energy to project a sword. UBW is a good example of Archer's ability he totally owned Lancer even-though he had no master and he casted Rho Aias that takes 3 times as much energy as his Caladbolg 2. And about the master part, yes Iliya would have made a great master for Archer, because she is his sister.

@megadragonblade lol, but dont forget, Rho Aias is his only defensive Noble phantasm, so if Lancer uses Gae Bolg again, he might be in trouble, but still Archer is better than lancer, since he can go toe to toe with lancer Without a master at all

@vergilheartnet it's his only shield yes though he can project Avalon since it has been in his body for many years until in some point he returned it to saber somehow. But that's probably going to drain all of his magical energy if not kill him shortly after just because of the level of the noble phantasm + he needs Saber to be around in order to use it.
