  • When u remeber numbers u dont work with logic when u do multiply or divide forget times tables because need look at number simpler all operations is simple sum 35 *17 = !1! 2 4 8 !16! 17 times (= 16+1=17 second operation simple dubling !35! 70 140 280 !560! = 560+35 = 500 + 60 +30+5=595 (=

  • be kind to yourself. first and most. I know all about your frustration.

  • memorizing comprhention of numbers and math formula and simple math those are my sympton no matter how many time i hear the directions it wont registar PEACE 2 THA UK FROM THA STATES

  • look up mayan math the way they did it i promise it will help with your math

  • I think these videos are fantastic for explaining about Dyscalculia. I work with adults who have watched them and it has helped them understand more about their maths difficulties. It has also been seen by colleagues who have been able to support more people. As a team, we are spreading the word about Dyscalculia and supporting individuals. Thanks

  • One of the problems with me is that I will learn how to do a certain math problem but then when I learn how to do a different type of problem I will have forgotten the previous one. So I'll have to go back and relearn that but then I will have forgotten the other one I learned. Meanwhile, I'm getting F's on my tests

  • I'm 24 and i'm about to get my college entrance exam next week (Yeah, i waited this long to start. Long story but basically i was terrified to fail at college among other things). I'm frantically trying to atleast learn my multiplication tables so i wont leave the entire math section empty. But i cant do it. As soon as i remember one, i forget the rest. Then after a while i forget the one i just learned. I definitely have this. I dont know how to deal with it.

  • @SteveTheMovieTheGame Good for you! I feel exactly the same, I may be thinking of uni next year when I'm 23/24. Scary stuff!!

Look, I wouldn't stress about memorising your times tables, sure it would make a lot of calculations faster but its not so important, that's what we can use our fingers and pen & paper for.

Focus on understanding basic stuff like fractions, 1/2 same as 2/4, stuff like that and as long as your not doing a maths degree, shouldn't hold you back if your determined enough.

  • @RobYn101666 Thank you for your advice! I'm actually considering majoring in biology. I cant tell you exactly what proffesion in specific i wanna be because you can do so much with a Biology major. But i wanna help people. So i'm thinking Nurse,Physician Assistant, Pharmacist or even a Doctor. We'll see though, i need to be in the Uni first!

  • @RobYn101666 (Part 2) Also thank you for the advice! I've been taking it to heart by making sure i study all the basics, fractions like you said, Long multiplication, addition, substraction and division among other things.

I also came up with a way to learn the times tables a bit easier. I just turn the entire table into a little rhyme! Yesterday i memorized the 3 and 4 times tables and... yep! I still remember them! So i'll definitely ace that entrance exam! Thanks again for the reply!

  • Never mind you answered the question.

  • Do you ever switch directions? I've gotten lost twice the past weeks driving in an area I'm familiar with but going a new way. My husband gave me directions and I still went the wrong way. Also, I just learned how to get to a classroom I've been going to since Aug 30. ????

  • dropped out of college this week, cant pass math...

  • @andrefrbk I think my future will be the same due to this stupid disability, sorry if I sound aggressive but I am getting a bit upset over it.

  • Wow I never realized they have a name for this! Dyscalculia... I guess it makes sense. I have struggled with math my whole life. And now that im in college algebra is kicking my butt! Btw kind of off topic but you are gorgeous!

  • I just found out I'm dyslexic well I can only imagine how crazy It must be to others. I would get the weirdest reactions from people..I laugh now but..its obvious now to me and I'm aware of it, but I knew I was different couldn't pin Point it. I've always been a fighters so I try really hard to believe all people were like this, even though in the back of my head I was fooling myself. My persception about myself has changes overnight. Into Akwardness.

  • @KJ35779 I know that feeling. I used not to care as much as I do now as I've become more aware of the reactions and attitudes of people around me and when it I make mistakes in my working.

It's about learning to deal with being yourself... Something everyone struggles with at some point. Be proud to be you plus all the imperfections. I'm working on it myself =)

  • I should do my vid about dyscalculia..

  • Hi there, your video really helped me alot, i am currently studying my masters majoring in Special Ed, and i only learned that i may have dyscalculia when i took up this course..we almost have the same problem , but i really don't let it stop me.. i am also terrible in remembering phone numbers and have to ask someone who's with me for it...

  • Hey, I'm really glad I could help you. It's fantastic that you don't let it stop you getting on with what you want to do in life. Knowing is half the battle, hopefully dyscalculia will get more exposure and more help and advice will become available to people.

Good luck with your masters degree, I truely hope you get it :)

  • that's the problem here, cause i am from Philippines and Dyscaculia or even Learning disabilities are only gaining exposure now.. and so many kids here suffer, i included of being called idiots in math and all those degrading names just because you cannot master the multiplication table same as your peers.. I also hope that it will gain more exposure so that more kids and students with dyscalculia will gain self confidence and will not lose hope on learning how to cope with it.

  • Yes, I was one of those kids too. It gives me real axiety to do any 'mathematical' problem now; if I can be bothered to try because I'm so convinced I will fail I don't want to at all.

I work in a school now and I look out for signs in the children.

  • @RobYn101666 Thank you for looking out for kids with an LD. cuz this past 8th grade yr. my class was doing percentages to go into more harder problems, and everyone was getting it but me. (I never really got percentages in the 2nd grade) so i waited till she stopped talking. when she was done, i asked how she did that and she yelled at me! Yelled at me for asking a stupid question!!!!!!! WTH!!
