If there is one thing average golfer can take away from Hogans swing - is to watch his PIVOT, meaning how he loads against his right leg. PERFECT PIVOT- that is where the power is.
No wonder he thought he was on top of his game during the "Power Golf" years he always said he felt cheated I think Hogan himself would tell you his "Power Golf" swing was better.. Much more powerful position at impact obviously he couldnt get there after the wreck people that say his swing was better post accident are fukn stupid
i'm with you mate, the wee ice mon would have won many more tournaments had it now been for the accident, but then again that's why he's the greatest, because of the comeback
Interesting. I've had both Power Golf and Five Lessons since I was a teenager. Most people have never heard of the first book, but reading it and then reading Five Lessons really gives you an idea not only of the historical record of the changes in his swing, but what worked and what didn't work--which is fair warning to any player.
1:03 is what I feel like lately...strong right side, backing into the ball on the downswing with a simple post on the left leg, complete rotation. It's a sweet way to hit a golf ball.
Best ball striker ever to have lived, and dont know nobody say otherwise. Tiger still has a few years to go before reaching his nomination as next best ball striker, step by step.
I must say that you have accomplished something cause' this is a very nice video and I am a huge fan of mr Hogan myself. Have a look at my swing! I have the same sort of swing as he has.
Ben Hogan is well known to be very precise.I am fan of him. That is why I am writing a blog about him, called Maxigolf. You will find it on my channel Teg17.
My blog is now in french but I will write it in english in 2009.

Ben Hogan is the Shiznit. A real OG who was Tiger Woods before Tiger Woods was Tiger Woods.

Tellin' ya, that clip of other pros stopping to watch him on the range is absolutely unforgettable (here, see it at 1:12).

He would hit 600 balls in the morning break for lunch ,and hit 600 more in the afternoon followed by a round of golf.

Thanks for your comment.I know that "Power Golf" is the only book which was written only by Ben Hogan.
For "Five Lessons", Ben Hogan was helped by a writer.

@emncaity The funny thing is one year later. I'm reading the five lessons at the moment I read your comment.

Hogan was a cheat. He used to regularly drop a ball down the inside of his trouser leg. They also used to call him Ben Leather Wedge Hogan.

0:32 is that at Carnoustie?
KnowYourTeam 2 years ago
Maybe. At 35 seconds, it's Augusta Masters !
teg17 2 years ago
Looks much too early for Carnoustie. By that time, he was 41, post-accident and noticeably thicker, wasn't he?

That was emotional....the music matched his tempo - well done!

Yes ! Music and Ben Hogan 's swing are good together.

Yes Samimalmstrom.
He has reached this level because of his perfect technique. The shaft is on swing plan at the downswing. This is the secret of the regularity !
teg17 3 years ago
Tiger will never be what i consider a great ball striker. He is however, the greatest putter in history.

Thank you Libellomelli.
Your swing is really good because the shaft arrives from the inside at the downswing, exactly as Mr Hogan did !
If you want some further details,I advise you to read my blog MAXIGOLF.
I wish you thousands of touched greens in 2009.
