what is it about women's gymnastics that makes it that they get to a certain age, and they can't do certain things anymore? I would've thought that like alot of things in life, you'd get better w/ age and experience, but that doesn't seem to be the case w/ women's gymnastics.
Emilia Eberle's routine was a whole lot harder, she did a punch front and two standing backs, the hardest things nadia did where a back-walkover flick - flick, and one standing back. Also they had similar mounts but, emilia did a full-uh turn(i cant spell the actual name. Nadia had a huge wobble after her gainer-back-handspring, when she turned she had a huge wobble.
@Twilightlover18ful Nadia also had a front aerial and aerial cartwheel. Eberle's routine was not harder than Nadia's, and in addition, Eberle had atrocious flexibility; she came nowhere near a split in her leaps, which Nadia did. Even if it wasn't required, Nadia showed more athletic prowess than Eberle.
@Twilightlover18ful true but it was the way nadia's looks and the way she perform it makes it looks so good and wow ,her balance beam routine in event finals was good for the gold and well deserve
I am a big Nadia fan, but think that this routine is weaker than her 76 Montreal routine. The addition of the standing back tuck doesn't add much. The front aerial to side aerial combination seems much weaker than the previous side aerial back handspring combination.
she did this beam routine with a hurt hand when one of her team mates fell so Romania could win the team all around title i did a report on her and i am a gymnast.
Perhaps you are refering to the 1979 World Championships, where she did compete on the injured hand, and the Romanians won. This, however, is not that competition.
Hi. Nadia won both the Balance Beam and the Floor Exericse event finals at the 1980 Olympics. She also narrowly lost out the AA Gold medal to a russian gymnast which apparently caused some controversy (not sure about that). I can't remember which Russian gymnast it was - i think Elena Davyadova (spelt wrong maybe??) won the AA.
Hei are you crazy, look at shaposhnikova beam EF - he had two mistake!!! and hope in landing! 9.85 was overscored. Maxi beam exercice was better than natalia.
I am not sure which comment you are replying to. Shaposhnikova's beam was EXTREMELY difficult, she was the first person to ever do a two legged backhand and a back layout step out on the beam, not to mention she did them connected, also her one armed handstand was incredible. She had one small balance check and a hop on her landing, thats it. Nadia had a large balance check (her leg came off the beam that was considered large) on a move as simple as a back walkover.
Excuse me I am a huge Nadia fan so I have no idea what you are talking about.........but unlike some people I realize that even perfectionists (Nadia) can make mistakes and I also recognize when other gymnasts perform better then them they deserve the medal, you clearly do not understand that. Also I am not a nasty vicious bitch, we just have different opinions on certain things but last time I checked I do not think you are a nasty vicious bitch.
Nadia herself has even said that Yelena was the deserved winner of the AA title; some people dont like to admit what is staring them in the face do they? I adore Nadia, as you do, but she definitely wasnt at her best here, but if you or I try to point that out, some people dont like it.

Wonder why?

She should've beat Davydova. Nadia to me deserved a 9.95

This is way more difficult than her '76 routine, and even still doesn't compare to today's difficulty.

Why don't gymnasts do valdez's anymore

9.85 in the final and a second gold olympic medal on the beam.
Also gold in the floor final.
With 2 golds and 2 silvers she was the best gymnast in the 1980 Games.

That front aerial-side aerial combo was completely beautifully. Nadia's form and body line are fab...

@Twilightlover18ful but Eberle fell in the finals, which meant she will not have a chance to beat Comaneci

Well, this is the event finals, not the team competition. But, it is the same set.

Yes Davydova won the all-around. I never liked her very much as a gymnast; I thought Filatova was far better.

um she lost the gold medal because she fell on bars on a release. She could have won but falling is a major mistake

Yeah,
Yelana Davydova..
