  • this is interesting, I had ADD when i was younger, and dyslexia, and many of the other symptoms you talk about. I have noticed that when i go to the pub and drink beer (lager, bitter or anything made with grains) I become very tired and lethargic (more so than usual) but when i drink alcoholic cyder of equal strength I am quite energetic in comparison. I thought this may be because cyder has a lot of sugar but the gluten thing may be the cause.

  • @blahblahfeckinblah Hi! If you react to some alcohol, then you probably have food sensitivities. You should try going gluten free for at least 2 weeks. I know people who have, and then their energy increases and brain function gets better. It's worth a try!

  • Potsy, what other tests have you had done, like for thyroid, or autoimmune stuff, food allergy.

i just started working with a Doctor who is an MD and also an ND (naturopathic doctor). looking at minerals and metals that could be out of norm. that is do you feel gluten was the total cause of your brain fog? myself, i even notice that a cellphone up to my head will cause brain fog.. i usually use a wired headset. do you find exercise to help clear up the fog?

  • Thanks, what a beautiful statement. you described it so well, i am 52, had brain fog all my life, just thought it was the way i was, slow dumb forgetful. just the last couple weeks have quit gluten and grains except rice, seems to be making a difference but too soon to tell. no idea what sort of a recovery to expect. only a few times in my i have felt like my brain started functioning the way it was meant to. i always thought the problem was in my brains software, psychology didnt work.

  • @7digitalSunday Hi! That's great that you are gluten free and noticing a difference! I noticed immediate results when 1st going g/f, but it took a good 6months to notice more results. Going dairy free helped my brain function too. I've had food allergy test and heavy metal test. Both came back bad. I don't believe gluten was 100% the cause, but it was a big problem that was greatly hindering proper brain function. Exercise helps too. Good luck on your journey towards a clear mind!

  • has anyone tried neurofeedback ? its suppose to do wonders for brain fog. please do all check it out very important. neurofeedback.

  • @RPJunky Brainfog results from physical stuff like gluten sensitivity, other toxicity in the body like heavy metals or certain excess minerals in the body, or parasites such as candida, other food allergys, thyroid problems (see videos by on utube by dr david clark) , sugar is a big culprit ( if u crave sweets try reaching for a piece of fruit) so if one thing in the body is out of balance then that can cause other things to go out of balance, i think the place to start is nutrition.

  • @7digitalSunday good place to start but why do other people eat what ever they want and not get brainfog ? its obvious there is much more to it than nutrition. nutrition will help but it wont cure. you got to get to the root of the problem. most likely thyroid a thyroid not being trested properly. i am for one on a heavy dose of thyroid and thats the only thing that really worked well. 300 mg of t4.

  • and holding conversations. My mind wanders off and I'll be thinking a million things and couldn't tell you one of them because my mind races so much and my thoughts are so disorganized. I constantly have to use my gps because I'll go places and get loss or forget how to get home. Even if I've been there before. I have gaps in my memory... I could go on and on, but I'm glad I found your channel. Finally someone who can relate to me and knows that I'm not faking and I can't just snap out of it!

  • OMG thank God I found this channel. I have lupus and have been battling brain fog/cognitive dysfunction for 3 1/2 years now. I definitely feel out of touch with reality, like my brain is in a dark fog and I have problems doing so many things! Reading - I can say the words but can't put the sentence together. I would read the first part of the sentence over and over again and by the time I made it to the end of the sentence, I couldn't tell you what the beginning said. I, too have a hard focusing

  • @beautiijunkii Hi! I'm glad you found my channel too!:) So sorry to hear you have lupus, along with the awful brain fog. It's so nice to find others who really understand the depth of "brain fog". It's really hard to describe it to your average person because, there is just so many different ways it impacts our brain. Thanks for commenting! Hope you have a great day!

  • wonderful video

subscribing to hear more words of your wisdom

  • @LupusLife Thanks so much for subscribing and for the friend invite! It's always nice to meet new people!:)

  • The front of your vid was making me howl!!! LOL! Mostly because I can so relate :D So very proud of you for bravely bringing up the difficulties you have had with OCD etc. I have been fortunate enough not to have to deal with allot of those problems but have had friends that do and it is awful for them. But the brainfog issue I know all too well and also agree not a appropriate term. I feel as if I am loosing brain cells by the day... by the hour lol. Another great vid! xxoo

  • @FootprintsIntheSand7 LOL!! So glad I was able to make you laugh!! I thought putting a funny spin on something so frustrating as "brain fog" would lighten the mood!:) I didn't know if I should post this video because I have never to talked to anyone but close family members about this. But, I decided to go ahead, hoping that it spreads awareness and lets others know that we understand what it's like having "brain issues". I thought I was crazy for the longest time, but now, it makes sense!

  • @RecoveringPotsy I am SO VERY proud of you for posting it! I think they are very important topics to be talked about and often aren't. You have a great way of putting a funny spin in with your editing, I have always said you are talented with this whole vlogging thing :D I am so thankful that you decide to vlog, can't imagine not being able to watch your vids <3

  • @FootprintsIntheSand7 Awww... Thank you so much! You are so sweet Jan<3

  • you are beautiful when you are searching. :o) and i know how painful it is emotionally to have to try so hard to push through it. i have to do this soooooo much too. i hope you know that this doesn't have anything to do with intelligence. the intelligence is still there, it just gets interrupted and takes longer to retrieve info and make connections. im working on a creative name for brain fog...ill let you know when it materializes. :o) happy saturday!

  • @debradebbiedeb Thank you!!:) I think many of us can all relate to the whole "brain fog" thing. I honestly can't even believe how horrible my brain function used to be. I used to feel stupid, but in alot ways, it made me smarter because I had to live in my head and do a lot of thinking there, and work alot harder than others. It also caused me to hyper focus on art projects, which made me a better artist too. It's still hard to deal with though. Can't wait to hear your name for "brain fog"!!!:)

  • @RecoveringPotsy What we have definitely goes well beyond brain fog. I usually just explain that I have neurological problems. Occasionally I will tell them of my diagnoses of dementia and amnestic disorder.

  • Yeah I am not down with that term either. "Impaired Cognition" works well, as do symptom-specific examples (ex: difficulty processing /retaining information) IMHO.

    @JaedaBarbie: Hey beautiful! *hugs*

  • @SheWhoFeels I like the term "impaired cognition". I actually use the term brain fog because it was the most commonly used term I found in my research about my symptoms. I just decided, though, that the terms "brain vaccum" or "black hole brain" seem more fitting. At least in my case, it feels like the words, knowledge, and abilities get sucked to the back of my mind's library. The info is still in there somewhere; I just can't pull it back to the front of my mind again.

  • @rx2mozart It is like blood pooling (that, as you know, happens in the legs), but instead of blood we have information pooling somewhere in the archives or our minds which results in a lack of needed information or "impaired cognition." so... maybe we could call it brain pooling instead, haha. :)

  • @rx2mozart "Brain Pooling!"LOL! I love that term!!!:)

  • Brain fog is a lame term because 1) it's too vague and covers too many things. 2) It's way too confusing to outsiders 3) It's a grass roots / patient born term which will cause the medical community to scoff 4) The literal fog analogy doesn't make sense as it implies visual impairment, at the very least it implies sensory impairment, rather than memory problems, grammatical stumbling, stress susceptibility, concentration difficulty, and other brain problems.

  • @PerpetualTiredness I agree with this. Also the term "chronic fatigue syndrome" They cause the medical community to take us less seriously.

  • @melodramakid That's something that really needs addressing, right now there are no good terms for this. The bigger picture is that multiple illnesses (physical diseases and behavioural diseases) are all being thrown into the wastebasket categories "CFS/ME", and "Fibromyalgia". It's a situation which is tragically unfair. In the future these individual conditions will be figured out and be given their own names, but until then it's one giant shit sandwich and all patients have to take a bite.

  • @PerpetualTiredness Well said! I've never ever used the term "brain fog" when describing my symptoms for fear of a doc not taking me serious!

  • Hey sweetie! I would be able to watch on my PC but I am usually logged in via mobile. To change video settings, view it on it's own page; then click "edit info" then "settings". Then under the options to the far right, select "allow to be seen on mobile." Thank you for the trouble! *hugs*

  • @SheWhoFeels hey you:0

  • @SheWhoFeels So sorry it's taking me so long to change the settings. It's probably so simple, but for some reason, I just can't seem to figure out how to change the settings. Will continue to research this!

  • I am starting a new channel about my life with OCD called JaedaGreenEyez

  • I have OCD in addition to many chronic illnesses. I just found out my muscle enxymes are really high and I may have a virus. My OCD is very hard to deal with. I am also mostly homebound due to seizures and lose of mobility. Right now m y OCD is at all time high right now. Thanks for taking about this. I have to be on meds and therapy. But my OCD is still very hard. I got OCD at 12 years and was scared to tell anyone, because I thought I was crazy. I

  • @JaedaBarbie Sorry to hear your OCD is really bad right now. I now hard that is to deal with and to talk about! I wouldn't talk about it as a child because I thought I was crazy, but then my parents started noticing, so I had to tell them. I didn't know what to even call it at the time because I had never heard of OCD. That's great you are starting up a channel about this! Let me know when you get it up.

  • Hey sweetheart! Pretty please edit your video settings so I can watch it on mobile? ;) Much love! Xoxox

  • @SheWhoFeels I would love to do that for you, but I don't know what that means?! Are you not able to watch them at all?

  • My biggest issue is anxiety. I get it really really bad right before my lady times(sorry, TMI) That's also when my POTS is at it's worst! I have several panic attacks leading up to the start of it usually. I can't stand it!

  • @melodramakid I totally understand! Everything is worse around that time! My nervous system is still so bad that I can't control my nervous system. The littlest things can trigger crazy adrenaline rushes and panic feelings, ect. My nervous system has improved some this past year, but I still have a ways to go!
