i have been healing as a paladin for about 2 years now and i have always spam FoL and Stack SP and then INT... i dont get why people stack 20 int in ever socket and spam holy light, all i see is so much over healing that is not needed... yet everybody still seems to be doing it. I pretty much never use holy light in a 5, 10 or 25 man, i have 25k Mana and 2500SP... FoL and Holy Shock seem fine. No?
Is your gear current? Because I stack int and still have 2900SP. And I concur, spamming HL is very inefficient on most fights, the only fights that would need it would be fester and the other hard hitting bosses. Other than that, FoL and HS ftw.

It's true though, it's hard for a holy pally to be tops in healing. But I don't worry about being tops, let the shammies, druids, and priests worry about the raid, my main concern is the MT though i use judgement of light and glyph of holy light for a little bit of aoe healing.
@nextbignothin I noticed Judgement of light also heals the ranged direct damage dealers. Hunters, Mages/Locks firing bolts ( Locks take notice, its like free mana ), even that ray thingie that Locks and Shadow priests do. crazy stuff.

@r3azon I think a lot of healing is an issue of skill, not class. In my current raiding group I'm generally in the top 2 or 3 of the log, along with a disc priest and a resto druid. Some things are obviously going to depend on the mechanics of the boss fight, but really anything where you're just standing still, your paladins have no excuse for not healing their brains out.

I always topped it, and JoL is a buffer. its not really worth it if you ask me unless you dont have a pally tank or dps pally that spam it in their rotation.

yes JOL=judgement of light does massive aoe heals i have JOL set to my mouse so every 8 sec i click my mouse 4 key to unleash my JOL only bad thing is it doesnt stack with other JOL so if u have a ret paladin or paly tank using it also they will basically b stealing ur heals its y i use it every 8sec i spam the crap out of it
They don't ''steal your heal'' xD It gets refreshed by another paladin, thats all. A retri or prot palla have a much larger chance to refresh the judgement then a holy palla.

ret paladins actually seem to have stronger judgments of light, ticking for like 500. i've seen ret pallies top healing meters! so you should check if a ret pally is doing this since apparently it doesn't stack. luckily most will probably be doing judgement of wisdom so they don't go oom. if your ret pally is doing judgment of light you can switch to wisdom.
I just healed Naxx last night in a hybrid spec (28/0/43) so I could pick up seth of light, just to change things up and I noticed my judgement of light was ticking for 450 each hit. I also noticed the huge amount of SP you could get from the talent. I was critting the tank for up to 23000 crit heals, and seth of light ticks of more than 7k. That along with glyph of seal of light, I was healing everyone else for 4k sometimes.
my friend is a ret pallie almost full epix or something i think and i know his light judges tick for like 300 mine tick for like 400-500 and im holy, so it rly depends on the gear :P often i like using it as holy since its so fun to see all of thoe green numbers everywhere along with glyph of hl. mmmm greeen numbeerrrzzzz.....
and also i like havin 1 million healing and 4 million overhealing while every1 else r at like 500k-100k with 700k overhealing
Example, if your beacon is still up when that player is full health (and youve had no reason to move it) and your tank is spiking and you're loading him up with 20k effective heals, 20k (effective) is still going to the beacon and still counting towards your overheal. its not wasted mana, its just the way it works. Judegments are the same thing, they heal as you attack, so its not wasting mana but still goes to your overheal. our crazy crit rate is the same thing, actually costs less to overheal
with our crit rate and beacon and judgements paladin healing involves a LOT of overhealing, its just how we're built. the only time it becomes a real problem is if you're actually going oom or bottoming out on the heal charts while overheal is in the 80s. If im on top of the charts in effective healing with an overheal of 51%, im still golden. I think the average holy pally is about 60-65% overhealing

but that guy can outheal half my realm ... hes just good
i do dare to say that to get alot of healing with a pala .. it takes more skill then any other class
pala's look easy to play ... but you have to be a fast and smart healer to be able to use it to its full advantage
