  • Are those 88 cougars single traction or do they roll out on both wheels? I have a rear end from one and just wanted to know It's a 7.5 with 2:73 ratio gears..

  • XR7s had Trac-lok. with those gears you probably have a one wheel peel

  • Yeah I know now it's just sitting on the side of my house

  • i have a black 1988 XR7

  • i miss cathy so much

  • no, i think it was cindy dude...wrxy was wendy

  • yeas, very nice

  • engine was a 289ci (4.7L) casted from a '65 Galaxie and had 302 heads, tranny was a 4 speed toploader (you're better off with ur 5 speed), and the pedal set was from a thunderbird turbo coupe as was the rear end cuz they have disc brakes

  • what engine is in that...and how did you set up the manual? just want to know more i want to change mine over to a 5.0 with a t-5 tranny

  • i own a 19 cougar ls with the stock 302 5 litre v8...i love it, its a beast, the ladies love the burn outs ;)

  • yes they do!

  • o..ok yea mine is an 1987 LS but its the digital...not a big fan of the digital and i want to convert it or get it customized...

  • oh LoL i had always wanted a digital one but i wouldve had to get a digital sender...i watched waaaay too much knight rider as a kid

  • was yer custer at one point digital...?

  • no, mine was an LS the XR7 had an optional digital cluster

  • I have an LS in the driveway with a digital cluster and an HO... so i think it was optional on the LS too.

  • You don't have an HO.

There was no HO in any Fox Cougar/Thunderbird.

  • well....

There is an HO in this car. And I have done my homework since this little conversation. This car has an engine out of an 86 LTD with the e6 heads.

So yes, it DOES have an HO.

    Kthxbye

  • Very nice car and vid.I hope to build a Cougar after I get done with my Cutlass project that I'm droping a Buick 350 into. The problem is going to be finding a late 80's Cougar.Seems like the old cars from 80's are getting harder and harder to find.

  • haha is that what u did? i dont have money.. but i was thinking about 40 series flowmasters.. they get sideways so easily haha

  • what do u have for an exaust? Right now im just running straight from the cat.. but i dont know what will give the best sound.. any suggestions?

  • put a 289 in it from an old galaxie LoL...but i was running Flowmasters from the cats and i had heddman headers

  • seriously

  • Nice, Mines Auto.. same year, same model... they kick ass!

  • totally! wish they actually made manual models instead of having to convert it...

  • Did you use a pedal assembly from a T-Bird? What tranny are you using?

  • Sold that car in February...sad but true. Yeah the pedal assy was from a tbird and the tranny was a regular toploader hitched to the old 289 and it had a turbo coupe rear end. so it had a 4spd box with a 5spd rear end so basically it had drag gears. twas quick.

  • wish my cougar had an engine like that!

  • nice car
