You have to wait to see what developers do on the Android Archos 5 version in the coming weeks and months. I think that some advanced 3D games are possible but not yet.

Here you are commenting on last years Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet model though.

Then I wonder which videofiles you are playing. The specs on the Archos site give 4 hours of video playback, but they said that about the 604 WiFi too. I can get 3.5 hours max, but that is only if you play 1 file and don't interfere. I think that this one will generally have the same playback times as the 604 WiFi, so the mean would be 2.5 hours of playing.

WiFi is free, if it is free for you to access. Sometimes WiFi costs money, like through a credit cad authenticated process, or subscription. You will also be able to connect to HSDPA 3 networks usin the Battery or Mini Dock and a HSDPA 3G USB dongle for the Archos 5 or directly on the Archos 5G with a built-in HSDPA antenna and SIM card reader.

Wifi is free if you are somewhere that has a signal you use it if you have a wireless hub you just connect to it so it's free

WiFi is free. HSDPA may cost something such as the current HSDPA subscription plans you can get.

HSDPA is cellular Internet access like the one in your mobile phone. So it works in the whole city and not only around WiFi hotspots.

The web browser is free and included.

wow incredible product, not sure if i plays music like an mp3 player because i havent seen that function in one of your videos yet. i think i would rather go for an ipod touch though just because of its compactability. is it just as easy to connect to the internet on this device as it is on the ipod touch charbax?

My video review Part 2 starts with the music player.. It works better then the ipod touch for browsing the Internet. It connects to both WiFi and HSDPA using a HSDPA dongle. Also Archos 5G has built-in HSDPA.

Apple does not support any of the video formats so how can it be worse. Apple doesn't even support DivX, WMV which are free on the Archos, only H264/AAC/Mpeg2/AC3/RealVideo codecs are optional at about $5 each.

The browser, webtv and webradio are included now for free. You can get all of H264/AAC, Mpeg2/AC3 and HD resolution plugins for $30 in the USA or 30€ in Europe, all included. A Real Video plugin might be extra as well but they haven't announced that one yet.

Archos did a pretty good job by removing all the ugly control buttons on the right of their previous models.

It's outputting to speakers. The cable in the left of it is the sound out. Unfortunately the inbuilt speakers usually arent too good.

At least 4h for video, some tested 4h20min at full brightness and loud volume. But I didn't test it yet. Consider the screen is pretty huge, the processor can support HD video and faster browsing and the device also supports HSDPA.

Yup, hello, it is pretty cool!

The one with built-in HSDPA coming out in the next few weeks is going to kick even more ass I think. I want HSDPA on top.. This one should also support HSDPA connecting a HSDPA USB Dongle under it.

Also it will support HD video playback, as you can see on my other video, it can output to a HDTV using HDMI already.

Then finally, this model supports currently 250GB and in the next couple months they should provide a 500GB model as well. Pretty amazing..
