I said to that other twat the the US gave the UK house & techno, which is obviously where the acid house scene and "rave" culture first blew up in the late 80's. I think you will find Los Angeles was already deep in the rave scene at the exact same time it was going off in New York. Just ask Frankie Bones... Alice's House was already going off in LA in 1989, & Stranger Than Fiction by 90.

@TheSkankat Uh yeah, I got into quite a few 18 & over clubs in Hollywood all the time at 14. I don't need to prove shit to you, so take it or leave it. I did have a fake ID that said I was 18, but I usually never needed it because of who I knew. And raves were always all ages since there was no alcohol being served. Fact.

@TheSkankat I just responded to your original post about us "yanks" not knowing anything about rave culture. Not trying to start a flame war, I just think your comment was kind of snobby and untrue. Check out the article from an old Spin Mag Oct 2001 on googlebooks about L.A. rave in the early 90's cause it's actually a kind of decent representation of the scene. We should just be lucky that we got to experience an era that will never happen again, regardless of where we are from.

Does it really matter? When rave blew up in places like L.A., it was mostly about techno. Acid house never really caught on, on a big scale, and house was still pretty underground. 1990 was pretty much when the first real "rave" happened here. And I didn't say that all of those acts played in L.A. every month, but one of them was always here. If you don't believe me, look it up. And I certainly am old enough since I started going to clubs & raves when I was 14.

Maybe Tunnel, Twilo, and places like Mustard Warehouse, Brooklyn waterfront, etc. As for LA, you obviously don't know shit. That's why Altern8, Prodigy, 808 State, Orbital, The Orb, Meat Beat, PTV, etc. were playing in my city every month... Educate yourself before you open your mouth. Respect to NYC, Chicago, Detroit, San Fran, Milwaukee, Tampa, etc. for keeping the scene real back then!

Haha, WE GAVE YOU techno and house, fool! And rave has been dead for along time, but it died in the UK way before it did in the States (Criminal Justice)! And places like L.A. and NYC were already deep in an underground/rave scene by the end of the 80's. I am pretty sure this footage is from the 90's anyways... By the way, I live in the UK, but am from LA, and spent years in the scene (one of the biggest scenes in the world was L.A.), and there were warehouse break-in's 88/89.

haha, that shit sounds all stupid and camp now, but it was sure fu@king fun back in the day! Gasmasks, Bio-suits, Mickey Mouse gloves, whistles, pacifier's, 50 inch JNCO's, etc. We even did the white painters mask with mini glowsticks taped inside, so the mask would glow green! Way OTT, but everyone now just looks like a stripper or a bum.

good dancing is good, glow stickers are ok. I have seen far better, even from back then. I started going to Raves in 1990, and started DJ'ing in 1993, and saw glow-sticking far better than this. the dancing however is good.
