@dfk94: Oh yeah, totally. Especially if you're on a mid to long-distance drive. In fact, I-5 between CA 134 and CA 170 is undergoing extensive reconstruction right now, so the western portions of I-210 are a great bypass to use. Be aware, however, that the sections of I-210 that are east of this video are some of the most congested in Southern California.
I want to kill Jenna Rose, then after the Glendale Freeway, just before the Verdugo Hills, I go to the side of the freeway, then cut her head off and take her organs and other stuff out. Then go to the 118 interchange, then throw her head off the interchange. I enter State Route 118, all the way to I-405, then throw her organs out. Brent, if you heard Jenna Rose's My Jeans, then probably you'd agree with me.
@TVisawesome432: Same here, drove it twice yesterday. Pretty surreal to see some parts of LA get as much as 7 inches of rain in just 24 hours. I kept my speeds to somewhere between 49 and 55 MPH, even dropping it to 40 MPH in the heaviest downpours.
@mrmarioandluigifan1: To be honest, that northern stub is not signed as I-710. However, if you look at the mileage markers, you can clearly see that it is a part of I-710, and a quick look at the California traffic count log also confirms this fact. I think that the CalTrans will eventually end up building a tunnel to connect the 2 distinct sections of the freeway.
Thanks for the memories. That part of L.A. was my stompin' grounds for many years. The truck bypass is a great shortcut from 5 to 14 if sometimes driving in a canyon of 18-wheelers doesn't freak ya out..
@gordonemoore: Unfortuantely, the truck bypass lanes along I-5 North are now severely congested between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m., due to the explosive growth of Santa Clarita. The backup often extends for 2 miles onto I-210 as well. I remember just a decade ago, when I could sail thru there on the truck lanes at 5 p.m. w/no real problems.
I love your videos. Watched every one of them. But your choice of music is mildly annoying . I've fought with myself to not make this comment but I just have to put it out there.Thoomp thoomp thoomp ! Did I tell you how awesome your videos are ? And how I discovered you after other highway videographers but you are my favorite ? Well Thanks. will be back for more.
@ashtonnesmith: lol, sorry about the music. Is there anything in particular that you'd like to listen to? Keep in mind that a lot of my favorite rock bands have their music owned by Warner Music Group, which does not have a copyright-sharing agreement w/YouTube. Generally speaking, I like to use songs that have a constant and fairly high # of beats per minute, but nothing *too* fast.
Did you happen to find me from FreewayJim's page? (we are both good friends, in person).
@ashtonnesmith That's a matter of opinion. I happen to enjoy his music. FYI if you had an issue with his music you could of let him know via private message.
...yeah the picture is so clear - if I was buying a cam now I would have to seriously consider this - technology moves so quickly - soon we'll all have 4K stuff (well maybe a couple of years down the track)
@IsoscelesKramer: Ya know what, it's funny that you mention it. I used to think that all of Los Angeles was pretty ugly too (mainly 'cause I grew up in the Bay Area), until I drove the 210 for the first time as an 18 year old teenager in 2000. Since then, I've really grown to appreciate the diverse geography that exists in the Southland.
@litrojan: As someone who has driven all over NYC before, I have to agree to a certain extent (about the roads). Actually, it would be nice enough if they simply repaved their freeways and parkways, once every 5 to 10 years (my suspension took a beating there). But hey, Robert Moses (love him or hate him), the grand-daddy master-planner from New York, was definitely a pioneer in designing urban freeways.
As far as the scenery is concerned, upstate NY is definitely one beautiful landscape.
With its proximity to Burbank, I bet they use this freeway in a lot of films. Reminds me of that bridge east of downtown I see everyday in car commercials. Awesome work on this one Brent.
@IntuneGames: Ha, well, I really don't like to compare our videos. He's got his own style, and I have mine. His expertise is Texas freeways, and mine is California ones. I think in the end, we both balance each other out w/our own unique knowledge and particular interests, as far as our videos are concerned.
@FreewayBrent ha, I've been to So. Cal a couple times, but never been through Pasadena. Keep the freeway videos coming. Would love to see more of Utah (where I'm from).
@PeteTheChopp: I'll probably wait until this summer, to get back out to the SLC area to re-film their freeways. I'll probably wait on Utah County's portion of I-15 though, until after they finish the radical expansion of it in 2012. But I definitely want to re-film I-15 up to Ogden (which I have on film, but have never worked on/released the footage). There's also some other stretches of I-70 that I plan on recording again. Thanks for checking in. :)
@FreewayBrent Cool man, Yeah I live in the midst of that Utah Co. reconstruction. It is horrible right now, but it will be sweet when its done (6 lanes in each direction). It will look similar to how I-15 looks in SL County. Future plans also call for expansion over Point of the Mtn (Lehi to Draper) which would give us over 55 miles of consecutive 10-12 lane freeway on I-15 from Spanish Fork to North SLC. US 189 up Provo Canyon to US 40 near Park City would be an awesome to film as well.
man I love the scenery here. the most southern part of California I've seen was Bakersfield and Barstow. I might have to make a stop down to Los Angeles.
Wow, what an awesome stretch of freeway, I can see why you like it. Also the video was excellent from a technical standpoint, one of your best. Very nice soundtrack too, it fit well. Thumbs up and faved!
@Freewayjim: Thank you, sir! I-210 between Pasadena and Sylmar is pretty much the So Cal equivalent to I-280 along the mid-Peninsula section in the Bay Area; both are bypasses to more congested and populated areas, both have at least 8 lanes along the majority of its length and both freeways feature some fantastic scenery.
Out of 25 songs I had to choose from, I felt like this one was the best track for what I wanted to do with this particular video.
Very nice editing, my man! The scenery on the 210 is something else and a pleasure to look out while waiting for the trains. Your graphics and annotation bars keep getting better in every video release. Kudos!
@CosmoPhotography: Thanks, bro. I'm just switching it up with different ideas, as far as the annotations and graphics are concerned. Now, if CalTrans would just repave the 210 freeway...
Keep on truckin' past Sylmar, it's a fuckin shithole.
