  • i love this version of Lucy in the sky with diamons oh yessssssss

  • Great pictures!

  • If only we had a billion smart phones then we would have film of this from every angle. Jost like when JFK was killed. I'm from that era and I don't think thee is any real record of it!

  • Ugh.. on such a classic song and such a phenomenal video, I don't see why people feel the need to make comments about Lady Gaga. The woman is hardly in the same category as Elton & Lennon. Come on people!

  • @jessx187 AMEN....

  • God it would have been awesome to have been there!

  • This is why I LOVE kyoutube. This was the first concert I ever attended. My father got free tickets from Joseph Papp, who was a regular customer at his luncheonette in Sunnyside, Queens. "Uncle" Joe was considered by many to be the greatest theatrical producer ever. He founded the Public Theatre in NYC, which is where I first found my love of acting and theatre. How luck was I? Thank God for all of them, but especially my dad, who I miss with all my heart. RIP Dad, I love you.

  • muy bueno

  • 1:45 great musicians have epic sunglasses

  • Now that is what I call a great duet. Two great talents.

  • Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day ;D

  • this is one of these songs where both the beatles and rltons versions are fantatastic ... p.s i think john and paul wrote it ,,, but elton has wrote many great ones aswell

  • I wouldnt doubt that Elton John would write something like this way back then

  • Actually I always thought the song Goodbye Yellow Brick Road had a very similar feel the way it transitions into the chorus. Very Beatlsesque.

  • WOOO---AHHHH.

I saw this in the suggestions for another video. I was like, "NO WAY! JUST TOO AWESOME TO EXIST." I'm happy to say I was wrong---- I respect the talent of both of these great artists.

  • groovy!

  • in terms of musics john lennon is the god!

  • when does john sing?

  • @saxengee2 I think he's doing the harmonies...he's letting elton take lead

  • both two legends and creative geniuses. love em' from the bottom of my heart. imagine this but with michael jackson and paul mccartney to, it would had been perfect

  • I love them omghee im in tears its just sooo amazing..... this mii fav song by the beatles and elton john is 1 of mii fav singers. beatles are my fav band evaa... I LOVE THISS. :)

  • this is my favourite song by the beatles.

    I really love ice cream.

  • John Lennon was a genius!Wow!Wat a great song he wrote!

    Lennon shines on...

  • John was credited on song as Dr. Winston (his middle name) O'Boogie. Paul did same thing when he rocked out with Steve Miller in 69 on the kick ass cut My Dark Hour he is known as Paul Ramon but anyone who hears that Space Cowboy's song will know it is Macca himself.

  • Awesome! Captain Fantastic was the Best from 73-75, cheers TyT

  • @SunnyLovetts Nop, Lady Gaga Dress Like Elton :P

  • I noticed by first time...that Elton John was the Lady Gaga of his time!!!hahahaha

  • I was only two at the time of this concert but oh how I so wish I could have been there to see it...probably one of the greatest concerts in the histoiry of music....

  • John said that he like this version more than from The Beatles...I like both versions. the Beatles forever!

  • What a great combo with both of this doing this song that they each have done wonderful versions of. Own this vinyl, but no means to play it currently. Thanks for posting. Thanks also for fleshing outt the story of that night. I knew of the deal that they had made, but I enjoyed reading about Lennon backstage. I had no idea that he had fears about being on stage.

  • LSD

  • 2:57 The first hipsters.

  • wow!! I didn't know about this record!! THANKS for sharing!!!

  • in teresante version

  • LSD <3

  • Shame there is no video of this.

  • Elton John - Lord GAGA

  • ELTON JOHN AND JOHN LENNON OH MY GAWD!!!

  • imagine....this version of the song but with john singing....

  • Nicely done!!

  • Is Davey Johnstone playing that riff on his guitar?

  • what is unique about elton john and john lennon is that they're both known for their glasses...

  • Didn't think Elton could do this song any justice and I'm quite surprised.

  • The great thing is that Elton did'nt dress that way because he had to... He dressed that way because he WANTED TOO!!

  • I remember purchasing Elton John's " Lucy in the sky with diamonds * and thinking at the time how I liked his version better than the original by the Beatles.

    (The B Side had : 'One day ... at a time' )

But hearing Elton's version and performing it with John is a real treat ...!

  • i just want to hug him :D

  • Re John bein so far down in the mix. I suggest you check the original; studo mix - its incedible.PS As to how anyone could be inspired to write such lyrics - simple - his young son showed him a picture and imagined an image. Simple!!

  • John & John :)

  • It's kind of eerie to hear John L. sing the chorus by himself for a few seconds at around 4:00.

  • Elton John Lennon as i like to call these two when they are singing together :).

  • yea

  • cool tune

  • Elton "John" LOL

  • is that lennon soloing aroud the three minute mark?? pretty neat little solo i must say

  • what are the effects pedals that Lennon is using???

  • elton style= lady gaga (in a good way) john lennon style= kurt cobains casual clothes

  • 20 people DISLIKEd? are you kidding me!

  • @12kcando this royal outfit for the royal wedding.... lol

  • the two greatest singers and songwriters ever.

  • @Spiderrico123

AMEN! EJ and JL are the best ever. When his voice was at its prime, Elton had no peers...

  • 3:58 is the best

  • This song represents Elton's prime vocals....Thanks...

  • We miss You John Lennon. May you be Free As A Bird.

  • Someone should tune that bass!

  • Only if John was with us today

  • :')

  • John Lennon should have at least sung one verse... COME ON!

  • one of my favorite song ever!! performed by two amazing ass people:)

  • Legends......

  • One of the greatest covers ever. Elton made this his own. GREAT!

  • EJ+JL=Pure gold

  • Awesome...Awesome...Awesome!...My Ears are Happy! Happy Happy!

  • Thanks so much for uploading this treasure ♪

    Peace

  • Elton dresses like Lady Gaga sept classer and, sept he has talent and doesn't need a computer to make his songs sound good. I LOVE JOHN LENNON, you are my hero forever.

  • @SunnyLovetts you mean Lady Gaga dresses like Elton John

  • @SunnyLovetts Actually, you have it backwards. Lady Gaga, dresses like Elton did. He's the originator of the look. ;)

  • @Ghstwn I though the ORIGINATOR of the bird look was Phyllis Diller???

  • Gotta give a standing ovation and it's not even a live show ......

I was surprised and thrilled to get the extended cd version of here and there and promise you will too

  • Elton & lennon..i dont know how u can go wrong with this...

    LEGENDS!

  • elton john's voice in the 70's is honestly amazing

  • elton did great justice to this classic song I love it... the horns were used due to its popularity back in the 70s aswell as the fuzzy bass and piano.........awesome....

    Lennon Forever.............

  • Sir Elton does this song as good as you can do it without being John Lennon - good job!

  • I say it's about time for an actual John Lennon Movie. Honestly, I think with the right attire and longer hair I think Adrien Brody could pull it off. Elton John could play this part, it'd be epic!

  • @Mikenike332 Actually there was a tv show named 'lennon naked' with christopher eccleston playing john lennon. It wasnt fantastic but its the closest to a movie so far, and chirstoper eccleston having a northern accent and everything made him ideal i guess. just in case you dont know who he is he played the ninth doctor in doctor who :)

  • elton made this song legit. lennon... is...... wait for it.... LEGENDARY

  • I'm a huge Beatle fan, love Lennons work, however I do love Elton's recorded version (forget the horns on this one).

  • BRAVO

  • I wonder if this performance will ever make it to DVD? Wonder if it was ever filmed & if anyone still has it at MSG?

  • @bucky468 Nothing official was ever filmed.

  • did you guys know that when john listened to eltons music before he became well known and loved it. when elton stepped off the plane lennon was there to greet him and said its him its him its really him its elton!!!!

    pretty neat right??

  • I have this album...and it's a great live song! I can def hear John throughout, although the later it gets in the song, the stronger his performance shines thru. Part of the legend of this performance was not mentioned so far: After the two had exited the stage, Yoko met John backstage. This ended John's "lost weekend" without her - and their seperation ended that nite.

If memory serves, the B-side of this song (the released versioh) was "Across the Universe," another Beatles classic.

  • go john go

  • @ofirshow That makes a point, no offence but this song is really better with Elton Jhon, the only way that I can respect a cover is doing it better then the original version. And belive me, taken over that kind of guys as the Beatles or the Stones is not easy.

  • Saw Elton John last night in concert. At the State Farm Arena.

With a Friend's assistance, Elton John Autographed this Album cover and another...

Wow...I am still on cloud 9...

This is so, so, so, Surreal...

  • whats parts does john here?

  • Great night that night. John Lennon was the only one. He said introducing I Saw Her Standing There: "and we thought we'd do a number of an old, estranged fiancé of mine, called Paul..."

Finally, it seems nobody knows he also performed on the last number of the concert, when he joined the encore playing tambourine on "The Bitch Is Back".

  • "The girl with kaleidoscope eyes" - Best line ever probably

  • Elton John Lennon

  • com a voz do Paul Mccartney fica melhor mas a parte instrumental ficou perfeita !!

  • 15 people can't picture themselves in a boat on a river with tangerine trees and marmalade skies.

  • To all you Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns and Cleveland Browns fans: This was the #1 song in the USA when Jake Delhomme came into the world.

  • EXCELLENT version! I really enjoyed this.

  • I know some friends who were there that night . They were totally blown away buy it all . Night ever gets you through the night was # 1 at the time . and this song was in the top 10 .

  • @MuskateerGripWeed

If you listen closely you can hear him singing during every chorus.

  • happy birthday john!

  • Of course: Elton John Lennon.

  • I like this Version way to go Elton. Lucky for all that John did, create.

  • wow this is a great version :)

  • im so high

  • @MuskateerGripWeed Its cause he was a baritone who sang tenor his whole life.It eventually caught up to him and he suffered some range loss and got a bit of damage to his vocal chords. My choir teacher knew a guy who recorded with him and he said by the end iof his life,Lennon could only sing to an hour in the studio before his voice gave out.

Sad,but at lreast we got his gift and all of the gifts from the Beatles while they lasted =)

  • How do you get the guitar to the sound it has from 0:44 to 0:55, I want it!

  • @aSimulatedHigh In the original recording it was a piano, the guitar sound you hear there is leslie sound.

  • groovvy

  • why didnt john lennon sing a verse =/

  • @PsnIDShMuK because he was there, that's enough. he was playing guitar, actually.

  • Lennon was afraid to go on stage? Why?!

  • @skullface89 Hmm.. guess Lennon had probably seen better days performance-wise than those ones.

  • Beautiful, Elton and John... great era of rock n roll...

  • I couldn't hear John at all! :( Poor John!

  • Elton is a bit overdressed, isn't he?

  • How could anyone think, "picture yourself on a boat on a river with tangerine and marmalade sky" is about drugs? LSD. lol

  • awesome Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.... hmmmmmmmmmm ;)

  • brilliant!

  • @MuskateerGripWeed i actually thought his vocals sounded good at the end..

  • LSD FOR EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

THIS MUSIC MAKE ME CRY,AND I LOVE THIS!

  • Simple the Best

  • Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.... L.S.D. ... =)

  • Jooooooooooohn <3

    We miss yoou :(

  • i like this song cuz it has my name in it... lol

  • good song!

  • Lovly Pictures

  • It's a shame Lennon is so far down in the mix. He's more prominent after the 4 min mark. And it sounds as if Paul wrote the middle 8, although EJ did a total rearrangement of it in his version

  • This is one of the better cover songs in the business!

  • Thanks for posting Ronnie :) I love Sr. Elton

  • A rare milestone to see the two Johns performing together; a historical event.

  • Elton and Lennon= can't go wrong

  • At least we still have Sir Elton John.

  • This is insane.

  • My Favorite

  • This remindes me of my childhood.... great song and a great interpreter...thanx for posting

  • i just want to know... why theres any video of that concert?

    it would be great...

    last lennon concert. isnt?

  • The song actually wasn't written about LSD. The first letter on each of the words of the title was just a coincidence. The song was actually written about John Lennon's son who drew a picture of a girl named Lucy flying in the sky. Just sayin' :)

  • ugh, not a big fan of the horns. great otherwise.

  • Listen to their duet of I Saw Her Standing There - Much better and more fun, actually! By Far!

  • this is such a ggreat collab

  • this song is soooo trippy i love watchin the yellow submarine version too BEATLES LEGENDS FOREVER!!!

  • JOHN LENNON IS THEE BEATLE!

  • is it john on back vocals on the chorus?

  • @ahmedz912

    i believe so

  • Yes, You can hear John singing by himself at 4:04.

  • @stratman123 John starts singing since the first chorus, that was like 1:20

  • no duh Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds=LSD, and on RBB, it gives you the feeling

  • That song smokes so GOOD! I'm high as hell.

  • you're right, once his son showed him a picture he drew. john asked him what is shows, his son said "this is lucy in the sky with diamonds".

so he thought this was a great picture and wrote a song about it

    - if you find a mistake you can keep it ;)

  • it was julian lennon who gave this picture to his father saying: look dad, this is lucy in the sky of diamond

  • except later on paul admited that the song was inspired by LSD. and said that it was pretty obvious

  • damnn how did jesus get to play bass for john lennon?

  • r.i.p. johnny thanks for giving me wonderful music i can always treasure.

  • love john lennon xz

  • Yes!! I like John Lennon's singing better,

no offense to Elton John though!

    Amazing!!!!!!!

  • Favolosi!!!

  • R.I.P Dear John :).

  • A girl with keleidoscope eyes.

  • Any Movie about this??

  • so is this the only time this song has been played live by a beatle? since sgt peppers was just a studio album..

  • no McCartney played it at Citi Field in New York, New York

  • SOLO IS A GREAT ADDITION!

  • intro is better than the original song because it sounds more compassionate but then the "cellophane flowers" part is messed it up,great peformance though

  • John lennon and Elton John had Groovvy glasses :D

  • i would hav loved it if lennon sang the versus, his voice sounds so trippy in the original. but i guess elton had to make it original, this versions prety good

  • I want that telecaster so badly!

  • amazing cover by Elton!!

    Love this song!

    Both are great!

  • Davey Johnstone

  • Both of their voices were amazing! I loved when Elton let John sing Lucy in the Sky by himself for awhile!!

  • did Elton John ever do LSD?

  • amazing. this is something you dont get to hear every day

  • Well you use to - The RED P. TOUR -I SAW IN VEGAS WAS GREAT--I AM A STONES FAN TO THE CORE BUT E-J REALLY ROCKED YOU

  • I am so fucking jealous toward anyone who was there that night. John Lennon is my hero.

  • I was there at MSG that day, i still remember like it was yesterday...i was 12 rows from EJ and JL. So happy i got to see JL !!
