Я даже слушать его не стал бы.Визуально по характерным движениям диффузора вижу что играет паршиво.SonyXplod1300W бюджетный, а отрабатывает в разы лучше.
So because people on a anonymous internet forum tell you svs is a good company you take there word for it? How do you know it's not svs workers making new accounts and repeating the same questions and comparing the same subs over and over again? Like I said I owned one and it sounded like shit. It was a one note wonder. And even that one note it played was shit.
@Crayons64. SVS wrote the book on high performance, affordable, commercial subwoofers. Nothing came close on performance per dollar and nothing played as low and as loud and as clean. They put a smile on the faces of countless AV fans who tested them with every tool available. SVS invented real HT subwoofers and they set the bar far too high for most to compete. SVS started a worldwide quest for better subwoofer performance. Only DIY competes in dB/$ even now. SVS sells by word of mouth alone.
There is not such thing as overkill especially when it comes to subs. My question Is why do you defend this brand sub like you have something personal at stake? I know if anyone talked shit about my sub and how it sounded I would laugh and not care because I know my sub sounds amazing. BTW I'm far from def maybe you'redef, thinking svs sounds good.
I have absolutely nothing personal at stake with SVS. It is about statistics and numbers. Look at several of the biggest forums out there on hometheatre/av. Then do some searches on SVS. PB13 Then do some math. It is not only me, but I did not come across any other brand receiving so much threads & discussions & deep technical insight & measurements vs others. I never came across any real negative thread on this brand that would indicate the PB13 was overpriced for what you get.
Weird, I should record a video of my JL Audio 13W7 sub playing this song ..The excursion is pretty insane, much more intense than what im seeing here and my box is sealed.
I built my own sub after I bought an svs(and sold it) because it sounded like shit and was all hype. For any person that wants a real home theater setup you need a minimum of 18" high excursion woofer. IMHO and that is the bare minimum.
Bare minimum ? It all depends on what you require! What SPL at what depth in what size of room!
Sure, an 18" (high-excursion) in custom cabinet that has 2x the volume of an SVS with a 3000W amp will offcourse perform better, but that is comparing apples with cherries !
The SVS PB13 is an extraordinary sub for its size/looks/price, it will go very, very deep (10Hz) and still output enough to experience it. Not all of us are (def) bass-freaks that require 125dB @ 1m at 15Hz ....
Yeah, I guess it did reach kinda the excursion limits ;-) But I could not hear any sound that made me worry (like mechanically unhealthy sounds or something)
If you take all factors into consideration : looks / price / soundquality you can consider this a top notch product.
However, the DD18 is a complete different beast with certain qualities that do go beyond the lovely 13" SVS. The DD18 costs MONEY compared the the PB13
For HT SPL output my SVS will beat the DD18, for quality in music reproduction the DD18 will definatly beat the SVS, altough the Ultra-13 is already good!
Hell, an 18" driver in a closed cabinet with servo control...
I had the DD18 for several months until I had to get of it to raise cash flow - awesome clean limit less bass - I replaced it with twin Paradigm Servo's - these are no slouches either - tremendous wobble for the money!! but also foolishly sold them aswell :( now on the look out for a good sub that can match these - PB 13 is on the list!
@Nirvalica this song is supposed to have these low frequency dips.... Its called a bass test? What you thought he was just playing a lovely little piano song? lol
@masterwolf1212 Haha, no, I mean is only that low note that seems to be playing with any authority. Turn up the subsonic filter, then raise the volume for the sub and everything will play with roughly the same amplitude.
@Nirvalica ohhhhh yeah, I noticed the lowest note was the one that played the most. And personally I woudln't want to make my SVS subwoofer dimple like that *if I actually had the money to buy one of these badboys, and neighbors that actually understand that others make noise and sometimes they need to LEAVE the house!!!!* Lol, but yeah, seems like he needs to adjust his filter. Hopefully normal songs arent too uneaven, but then again they don't go this low, unless theres undertones.
@duraiden ; X-over is bypassed on the PB13, by setting the switch to OFF.
My Onkyo does the bass-management and it will not put out any frequencies through the subwoofer-link > 90Hz (give or take a few Hz offcourse, 24db/octave filter)
This is honestly one of the most impressive subwoofer videos on youtube. Nothing can really show how great this sub is until you hear it. It pains me to see people put SVS and Logitech in the same sentence. Keep it up man, you have one of the best subs on the market. Next step is the Seaton Submersive hahaha.
Nice video. I've got the same sub, but I don't seem to get as much bass (I've got mine tuned the same as well, with the middle port plugged). What SPL is this at and what format is this recording (mp3, wav, flac)?
Probably your sub does not go down as low as mine. This SVS PB13 is tuned at 15Hz (1 foam plug inserted) and the song contains quite some frequencies around that frequency causing the sub to move. Suppose your sub has a -3dB point of about 30Hz or so you'll see much less excursion at some points...
You need to look at the specs of your sub to know.
I have noticed Logitech systems are good for the average person wanting some bass and louder mids and highs... not so much for me. Check out my video of my pioneer 10 inch hooked to a Logitech Z4 2.1 :)
@postbuske I have a similar sub, from the Z-2200 system. The reason the Logitech sub doesn't move as much at that point in the song is because they have a high pass filter applied to it to greatly reduce power at those frequencies. This is simply done because it is a small subwoofer and can't handle the frequencies when bass-happy teens crank the volume right up. The actual response of the subwoofer has nothing to do with it, and it's actual 3dB rolloff is closer to 38-39Hz, unfortunately.
@Kothoga666 Uh, no. I was comparing it to a different multimedia subwoofer from Logitech.
Also, weight has no bearing on a subwoofer's quality and the subwoofer in this video isn't a "HT sub". A subwoofer is a subwoofer. Any good sub should perform equally well in any application.
The Sunfire subs in no way shape or form match the Plus and Ultra lineup from SVS. The Sunfire has no clean output below 25Hz where the larger SVS remains clean at high SPL.
I had ALL the Sunfire subs(save for the Solitaire and on wall)and while they impress at first they fall short against SVS,JL and HSU offerings.
All micro subs are flawed, quite flawed. Now I use custom 15" and 18" wall of subs that blows away any commercial subs .
Your video camera was parked dead center in a room node during the recording. There's hardly any LF content in this video. Shame too, because from the looks of those troll's mops flying around and the surround flexing, she's getting a good flogging. :-) Try parking the mic further away next time.
0:26 is it really necessary too drive it that hard! Why not use a few more at less level.
Its only a question when you totally bugger the sub! Have fun while it lasts! One thing Id never let you touch my sub! Its lasted 11 years without incident and youre pushing your luck!
amazing home theatre sub. one of the best available on the market. maybe the best.
but i would prefer the subsonic filter. it really looks like the seal gets damaged as time goes by with such frequencies as defstarx told before. i mean it goes down to 14hz with full power on this song.
but for testing and showing the excursion it´s ok:)
Man, youre pushing your luck with those frequencies that are below what the ports are tuned at. One can hear the distortion even from this crappy youtube-quality sound, telling that the element is not in control anymore.
Actually, a good sub should have a flat frequency response curve. The SVS does a great job! You obviously have no idea what you are talking about...but that is no crime, it is not your fault ;-)
Nice demo, those things can take a lot of hammering. From what I have read about the SVS and from folk with them they are the dogs danglies for the price.
Check out my vid on here...its under Justins home cinema i guarantee if you had a bigger surround and an isodynamic long throw driver with 2,700 watts it wouldnt wrinkle.
Thanks and Great job can't wait to get me one of those! they pump 750 watts correct? I was looking at the Klipsch RT-12D they boast 800 watts but i want something I can Abuse with no consequence!
My name is Vincent Stimpson, the son of Ron Stimpson owner of SVS. The PB13 is, for now, the most powerful and durable sub SVS has ever made. This video demonstrates the power of the driver but something the video can't show is the stamina. SVS subs are dirt simple which means not a whole lot can go wrong. An SVS sub can run full out for many years. The sub in this video was in no way, shape or form destroying itself. Trust me, SVS expects its customers to thrash its products.
ha! im 18 years of age and i got top 6series b&w's BOOHYAH!! yeah and i just got my second top spec pc. ok im sure SVS are a good make but i reckon ther all mouth and no trousers (i question the quality) and i would have to sell a kidney to buy a b&w subwhoofer. thanks
I wonder if mine is better than that thing because i got a pb12 ultra 2 hooked up in my theater and it has it has double 12s unlike your single 13 and 1,000 watts when ur has 750. I actually picked mine up last weekend from Wisconsin. I think its a waste a money to buy a 13 y not buy a 12 off Audiogon Ebay or somethin 4 less than 1300. I bought mine for 950 :)
I do not care about "more" SPL at all. This things goed pretty loud in this 6000 cubic feet room !
In term of sound quality, the Ultra-13 is a MAJOR improvement over your "thing"
Looking at comments from the designers at SVS, your Ultra-2 does not output more and the ULtra-13 driver has much better flat response...definately a "next generation"
And offcourse this PB13 looks much better than any previous SVS model ;-)
wow remind me never to buy a sub from you, the surround on that woofer is being abused to shit, i cant imagine looking at a woofer practically pop off the voice coil and then continue playing the song as if its not bad for the speaker.
I was thinking of doing that becuase these are great subs, but it costs twice as much as the US. So i didn't bother in the end. I'm just gonna settle with a XTZ W12 because its swedish made.
Yes yes yes..finally i get me pb13 tomarrow. its a good subwoofer at a great price thats a beast at bass, and not a mass market subwoofer that sounds ok hi-bass way that cant do the lows right. get a svs yall! :_)

wouldnt the tuning go down if you unplug the aeros? you are saying that the tuning rises with less ports?
sobe3yourself 7 months ago
@sobe3yourself
1 plug = 20Hz tuning, default, highest SPL output
2 plug = 15Hz tuning, stil high SPL output and good depth
3 plug = 10Hz tuning, but output (SPL) noticable lower
I think this can be explained when you look at math formulas of a Helmholtz resonator application.
These tubes have a certain lenght, diameter and a volume of air inside.
When you "close" 1 port you loose some of these aspects compared to 3 open "pipes". Looking at the formula this means lower resonance frequency.

No, what I mean is : when you insert a foam plug to use the 15Hz tune you set the switch at the back panel also to 15Hz.

Actually I did not expect this much excursion to happen, at this point I saw it was already more then enough and that I'm nearly reaching the end ;-(
I've never done this anymore since this video and the sub still performs awesome!
postbuske 2 years ago
amazing home theatre sub. one of the best available on the market. maybe the best.
but i would prefer the subsonic filter. it really looks like the seal gets damaged as time goes by with such frequencies as defstarx told before. i mean it goes down to 14hz with full power on this song.
but for testing and showing the excursion it´s ok:)
Sturmgoku 2 years ago
Man, youre pushing your luck with those frequencies that are below what the ports are tuned at. One can hear the distortion even from this crappy youtube-quality sound, telling that the element is not in control anymore.
defstarx 2 years ago
your rite this guys well over powering that svs ..ther better has home theater subwoofers..
kimboslice223 2 years ago
Oh please...
The YouTube video does not do this subwoofer justice. You can't judge anything by this video. It's just to show of the excursion. ^^

my computer speakers cant even reproduce some of those low tones. . . =[

flat shitty sounding sub svs subs suck
Crayons64 2 years ago
Actually, a good sub should have a flat frequency response curve. The SVS does a great job! You obviously have no idea what you are talking about...but that is no crime, it is not your fault ;-)
postbuske 2 years ago
Nice demo, those things can take a lot of hammering. From what I have read about the SVS and from folk with them they are the dogs danglies for the price.
Haizum74 2 years ago
Man, that thing really flexes! I would laugh if it sucked up one of those trolls into those ports lol.
CharlestonChew03 2 years ago 4
damn thats one floppy surround...
nakawoopahkapooski 2 years ago
Man, I cringe every time I see this vid...
croseiv 3 years ago 2
Yeah, he's killing that sub big time. Surround wrinkles = wayyy past Xmech
falkon212 2 years ago 2
That was cool ! 5 stars
andersonjjj333 3 years ago
the rubber surround on the sub looks like its creasing at some points on the song, maybe too much excursion?
mporettim 3 years ago 2
I think indeed it was "kinda" on the limit yes but not yet fully.
Actually, I don't want to stress it even further...
postbuske 3 years ago
Check out my vid on here...its under Justins home cinema i guarantee if you had a bigger surround and an isodynamic long throw driver with 2,700 watts it wouldnt wrinkle.
sodiumwinter 2 years ago
If you pause the video at exactly the right moment there is a wave pattern right round the surround.
Tricyklist 2 years ago
Thanks and Great job can't wait to get me one of those! they pump 750 watts correct? I was looking at the Klipsch RT-12D they boast 800 watts but i want something I can Abuse with no consequence!
jamesalexander666 3 years ago
If you were to abuse this one you wouldn't have any ears left. Don't know about the Klipsch but I have no doubt it's inferior.
Don't get hooked on the watts they don't mean much
audioamateur 2 years ago
well if ur into hifi u probabaly know watts dont mean to much..good luck abusing lol^^
chilli0n 2 years ago 2

Bassotronics - Bass, I Love You
well known with sub-testers ;-)
postbuske 3 years ago
what music are you playing on this sick sub!
jamesalexander666 3 years ago
My name is Vincent Stimpson, the son of Ron Stimpson owner of SVS. The PB13 is, for now, the most powerful and durable sub SVS has ever made. This video demonstrates the power of the driver but something the video can't show is the stamina. SVS subs are dirt simple which means not a whole lot can go wrong. An SVS sub can run full out for many years. The sub in this video was in no way, shape or form destroying itself. Trust me, SVS expects its customers to thrash its products.
stimpanzee 3 years ago 6
Vincent, if you are indeed a son of Ron then please give my regards to your dad as a happy Belgian customer!
Best wishes for 2009 and may the bass be with you ;-)

Why thank you tinkle fairy.
v4ginav0mit 3 years ago
Still prefer sunfires though...i used to have an SVS and my sunfires louder and deeper and more durable.
sodiumwinter 2 years ago
hmm the surround is dimpling at certain parts.. try not to do that too often, its not good for the sub.
tpaper12 3 years ago 2
damn good way to destroy a good sub
boombaklot 3 years ago
;-) This is not for every day I agree ;-)
Still enjoying this beast nearly every day!
postbuske 3 years ago
nice sub though in my opinion one of the best out there
boombaklot 3 years ago
Hmm...and your profile suggests you are 22 years of age ?
There is something seriously wrong with this planet...
postbuske 3 years ago
ha! im 18 years of age and i got top 6series b&w's BOOHYAH!! yeah and i just got my second top spec pc. ok im sure SVS are a good make but i reckon ther all mouth and no trousers (i question the quality) and i would have to sell a kidney to buy a b&w subwhoofer. thanks

the sub is crap it just lookes overweight and your music is poo. B&W subs are the best!
Arfer1Bar1Genius 3 years ago
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about...
postbuske 3 years ago
your reply comment hasnt proved you know jackshit about what wher talking about.(my comment was pretty imature though)
your sub lookes like it was rycycled out of an old car tire.
wheres the oak finish? my B&W 683's are nice
google them check them out. :)
Arfer1Bar1Genius 3 years ago
you need to do more research more about subwoofer dude. SVS is well known sub.
google it dude...
u have B&W sub ? lol come on get a life
gojerr 3 years ago
B&W 683's are 3-Way Vented Floor Standing Speaker
gojerr 3 years ago
do some research B&W can take a walk, SVS kicks B&W`s ass cuz u cant compare them.
chilli0n 2 years ago
well im comparing them and svs 'suck ass' B&W way better quality, you and your speakers suck balls
Arfer1Bar1Genius 2 years ago
thats one nice svs sub
is that the gloss black?
how much was it ?
5 stars from me :D
computertom90 3 years ago 2
That is indeed the glossy black finish.
Prices are advertised on their website, but over here in Europe I obtained it for roughly 1400 euro's (special pre-order price)
Offcourse the Ultra-13 is not "just a sub" so don't expect this monster to be that cheap...
postbuske 3 years ago
Are those ny-form trolls?
florida995 3 years ago
What do you mean by that ?
These troll are genuine Norwegian trolls that I bought on one of our visits to that wonderfull country.
postbuske 3 years ago
I wonder if mine is better than that thing because i got a pb12 ultra 2 hooked up in my theater and it has it has double 12s unlike your single 13 and 1,000 watts when ur has 750. I actually picked mine up last weekend from Wisconsin. I think its a waste a money to buy a 13 y not buy a 12 off Audiogon Ebay or somethin 4 less than 1300. I bought mine for 950 :)
videogamer786 3 years ago
I do not care about "more" SPL at all. This things goed pretty loud in this 6000 cubic feet room !
In term of sound quality, the Ultra-13 is a MAJOR improvement over your "thing"
Looking at comments from the designers at SVS, your Ultra-2 does not output more and the ULtra-13 driver has much better flat response...definately a "next generation"
And offcourse this PB13 looks much better than any previous SVS model ;-)
postbuske 3 years ago
wow remind me never to buy a sub from you, the surround on that woofer is being abused to shit, i cant imagine looking at a woofer practically pop off the voice coil and then continue playing the song as if its not bad for the speaker.
omegaslast 3 years ago
relax ;-)
this piece of hardware is quite capable of taking it!
The device did not make any click, pop or whatever sound at the time of the test...just clean, hard bass!
and now ... it still sounds excellent when playing real music through it!
btw ; I will never sell this one, perhaps only add one ;-)
postbuske 3 years ago
it barely moves any air
cerwinvegafan 3 years ago
thats awesome...but damn..how dou guys get the money to afford these type of subs??haha..svs is expensive but great!!!
seanthao 3 years ago
the suspension is past its limits.
Fredmullegun 3 years ago
ya 2 ports will make it sound better than 3.
and were did u uy it from?
puredeadly01 3 years ago
Since I live in Europe LSOUND from Norway takes cares of all SVS sales & supports.
postbuske 3 years ago
I was thinking of doing that becuase these are great subs, but it costs twice as much as the US. So i didn't bother in the end. I'm just gonna settle with a XTZ W12 because its swedish made.
LickMyLama 3 years ago
set the subsonic filter matched to the tuning point so u dont worry about the woofer over excursion, bleh i'm just dreaming i got the pb13 ultra lol.
ancientpimp 3 years ago
nice sub
whats the name of the song playing?
Speednut1 3 years ago
It is called :
Bassotronics - Bass, I Love You
Pretty heavy stuff very low at some points...
postbuske 3 years ago
Yes yes yes..finally i get me pb13 tomarrow. its a good subwoofer at a great price thats a beast at bass, and not a mass market subwoofer that sounds ok hi-bass way that cant do the lows right. get a svs yall! :_)
angelboy12 3 years ago
Wow. You are pushing the woofer too hard there. Don't treat you Ultra that way.
croseiv 3 years ago
Yeah...luckily I'm not doing this every day...
Altough at this level excursion I get no warning I'm pushing near its max ... all is clean, clear & loud!
No crack, plop, bang or other disturbing sounds...
postbuske 3 years ago
thats why you buy svs
butterfenco 3 years ago
The surround is stretching on that one lowest note, you may want to adjust your subsonic cutoff.
