I know so little about Elvis and Priscilla and I'm only watching snatches of this movie here and there. I guess I'd have to at least watch the movie to come to any conclusion about their story. At any rate, wasn't Elvis a big-time philanderer? She says she kept telling him she loved him, but he never would say it, but instead would tell her he didn't know what he was feeling and it would take time. He did have Anita Wood waiting in Memphis he had given a promise ring, and she wouldn't leave Graceland until Aug 6. 62 when she overheard him trying to decide between them after Priscilla's first visit in summer of 62 in CA and Vegas--she had turned 17.
One last thing. You say her parents should have stopped it. If you really look at this, they felt it was chaperoned because his father & grandmother were living with him, and Priscilla was returned home after each visit. I'm a hugh Elvis fan and have read alot of books about him but I don't think anyone really knows the score, that being said, JMO if this is how it went down it's really sick, I mean when my daughter was 14 I would'nt have allowed her to be "friends" with a grown man and it makes him a perv! You have to realize it was different then. Priscilla's mother talks about sneaking out to see her biological dad when she was 15, and he had to be mid twenties because he was a military officer. In both my husband & my family the mother's & grandmothers where all married at 14 or 15, & had kids at 15 or 16. One was a grandmother at 34. The husbands being 10 years older was nothing. It was like that up into the 1950s. It was illegal if they weren't married, but not looked on like today!

The costumes and sets are very authentic in this. I guess they shot some of these scenes in Germany. That first apartment they got was in a brothel, but they didn't know until they moved in. Later I think they into base housing.

I didn't mean that in a bad way I believe that they didn't have sex when she was 14. Back then though age was very different my grandmother was married when she was 15. I always thought their relationship was respectible because they didn't marry until she was 22. She says she kept telling him she loved him, but he never would say it, but instead would tell her he didn't know what he was feeling and it would take time. I'm a hugh Elvis fan and have read alot of books about him but I don't think anyone really knows the score, that being said, JMO if this is how it went down it's really sick, I mean when my daughter was 14 I would'nt have allowed her to be "friends" with a grown man and it makes him a perv! You have to realize it was different then. Priscilla's mother talks about sneaking out to see her biological dad when she was 15, and he had to be mid twenties because he was a military officer. In both my husband & my family the mother's & grandmothers where all married at 14 or 15, & had kids at 15 or 16. One was a grandmother at 34. The husbands being 10 years older was nothing. It was like that up into the 1950s. It was illegal if they weren't married, but not looked on like today!

The costumes and sets are very authentic in this. I guess they shot some of these scenes in Germany. That first apartment they got was in a brothel, but they didn't know until they moved in. Later I think they into base housing.
