  • Could this all be metaphorical?

  • Wow, i didn't know it would take the turn it did. With the horse and the swishing skirt. Surprised me. Not sure I agree he should have done that. I could be wrong. I suppose I wanted it to be a bit more metaphorical but then it got a bit gothic ghost romance there. Gotta see what i think about Kipling's decision to do that. Thanks for the upload. Great reading as usual. And thanks for all the poems you've introduced me to. C

  • @scifiwritir1 "Skirt" might mean the flaps that hang down either side of the saddle. It is more likely that it means the swishy part of the horse's tail. It's less likely that it means a woman's skirt.

Thanks for you comment and your support, regards, Tom.

  • @scifiwritir1 Oh. Okay. That helps. I have to smile now, though because I'm thinking the poet has "skirted" here. I almost feel -- in some poetic part of my spirit-- that the poem was meant to be longer and he ended it too quickly... aborted it. Kinda the way I feel when reading Coleridge's Kubla Khan... that the poet's journey through the poem was meant to be longer. It's like a symphony resolved in the first movement instead of having its themes explored. Might be me, though. Thanks . C

  • Reminds me of my childhood woods. This poem took me back there. Thank you Tom.

  • If you know of such a place, this poem had great meaning. I really liked how smooth this one flows. T:)
