You only have one pick because your supposed to be only able to sneak one through, it doesn't say in Skyrim, but does in the Jail loading screen for Oblivion

@mandude846 its solitude i think. you can either escape the hard way by breaking out of your cell, or push the crumbling wall down behind you. heres a tip, theres a basket in the corner(left of your cell), move it and theres another lockpick

@DarknessXER that is the most retarded statement i have ever heard. the only reason why water stops bullets is because its being supported by a large mass of other H2O molecules and is also supported by gravity, ONLY when the bullet it being shot DOWN.

so say if im standing 10 feet from you, and you have a shield of "water", my bullet would go right through it. and als, are you strong enough to hold water to stop a bullet? I think not!

another method is if you use a shout the guard will come over to see what alll the noise is about. Then as soon as he turns round to leave again you pickpocket the key off him. No need for lockpicking then!

The only problem i have with your tip on escaping is, yes, they are good tips, but if you just run you will be hunted all over skyrim. All the guards that you see in cities or on the roads will come after you, halting your progress in the game. Unless you escape all, sneeky, sneeky. xD

In one of the jails there is a "moss stone" directly behind you, when activated, it collapses the wall and leads to a hole in which you can activate the prisoner belongings chest. I can't remember which jail though...

i do it by shouting at the guards so they come and open the gate, then i pickpocket the key, walk up to the chests and loot away, that way i can go back into my cell and have a nap with all my stolen belongings back and have 0 bounty! perfect!

actually there is a super easier way to di this,basically all youdo is use unrelenting force or something like that,head to the farthest corner of the cell and wait for the guard to come and tell you to stop shouting,he'she will open the door and head towards you to ask you to stop shouting,exit out,then run out of the cell,i tried this in whiterun,and after escaping the cell,the prison guards didnt even try to stop me.try it yourself

tip: if you break the lockpick you have 3 options, 1: load your save. 2: go all out and use magic to lure the guard into opening the door or 3: pickpocket the key from the guard and make your stealthy escape! ;)

Pretty much every jail cell has a "secret" route out that will get you your non-stolen items and gold back. In solitude, for example, there is a section of crumbling wall on the back wall that you can activate to escape.

couple easier ways to get out of the cage is to pickpocket the key as the guard walks by and another one (which is my favorite) is use the throw voice shout inside your cell and the guard will run in looking and you can walk right by him

Best to do in  whiterun, in the jail on the floor theres a grate with a novice lock to unlock, run through the tunnels and out the ladder, mad easy!
