  • Does anybody have any recent news on Barry since his heart attack? It's been about 2 months now since that happened.

  • I just read in Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Barry is improving. But he has a long road ahead of him. He is going to have to learn to do everything over again. I hope that BW goes into the WWE Hall of Fame next year. Wrestlemania is in Miami and Florida is where Barry cut his teeth in this sport. We are praying for you, Barry.

  • Husky Harris looks more like his uncle Barry Windham than his dad Mike Rotundo.

  • Barry suffered a heart attack. Get well Barry

  • Barry's in the hospital(ICU)...send prayers out to his family.

  • @ucladodgerdog Why is he in the hospital?

  • @turtlewax29

He had a heart attack in late October, and in the process also hurt his neck and knee...currently recovering in Florida.

  • @turtlewax29 Thanks. I found some articles on the Internet about it too. I hope all goes well for Barry.

  • You have to understand...Barry had 2 deal w/ Larry/Lex WAY b4 ANY1 else in NWA/WCW had 2 do so...He helped train & bring him up in Florida b4 he got the call 2 Atlanta/WCW...So if ANY1 could/should/would be allowed 2 hem & haw about the quasi-suckiness that was/is Luger...IT'S B-DUB...

  • even then Fonzie called it right down the middle, daddy! *blows whistle*

  • Both Luger and Windham made their debuts on Championship Wrestling from Florida around '82 I believe.

  • @southport97

Luger was still playing football in '82, floating around the USFL. He debuted in 1985 in Florida in Percy Pringle's stable. Windham debuted in around 1979. There's clips of Windham on here on CWF '80.

  • Barry Windham- one of if not the top technicial guy ever in the business. He's easily top 10. Great guy to watch back in the day. If someone wants to get in the business, watching his matches would be a good place to start.

  • this isnt a real interview/shoot it has a wwe logo on the screen.

  • Barry is TEN times the wrestler Luger would ever hope to be

  • Barry windham is just bitter because his carrer didn't take him as far as luger carrer did, get over it barry.

  • @TheEman29 barry drew more and went further in the wrestling business the luger ever did. and over all barry has more respect in the business then luger will ever have.

  • @NOHOAXERS berry has more respect true, but lets be honest, luger is more of an attraction than berry, I perfer luger, like it or not, thats just my opinion, im done here

  • @TheEman29 Barry Windham had many world titles himself. Would have had more if knee injury hadn't derailed his career.

  • Anybody hear him say he was wearing a "woman's" dress? Do the make "men's" dresses?

  • I remember watchin Lex for the first time on TV and he tossed some guy out of the ring and you knew that guy landed not as rehearsed. I did meet Lex at his gym Main Event in Doarville years ago and he was much nicer than his business partner Sting. A lot more down to earth IMO.

  • Husky Harris looks like...

  • @pmault26 Husky is his nephew you marks

  • @eamion well, i already knew that! i was just saying he looks like his uncle.. if i didn't, i would have asked if they were related... :-D

  • Barry was really one of the most underated wrestlers......just a real bad ass

  • Whatever happened to kendall windham?

  • @MrBiggio07 prison.

  • GREAT clip!!! Barry was the man! Very underrated and in appreciated. I could listen to those stories all day.

  • Barry was one of the top 5 all time greatest in MY book.

  • Windham is a good story teller - and somehow its very easy to believe this about Luger.

  • I just love the way Luger yells everytime he hits or gets hit.

  • Barry Windham could go. Wrestling hour long matches against Ric Flair or Harley Race for the NWA world title was a thing of beauty. A future hall of famer.

  • @HCL808 I love, love ,Barry but the problem is is that he should have been better ! He had all the talent in the world to be one of the 10 greatest ever in the business.

  • I think Lex gets a bad rap. It was his physique that got him over, but he was always a hard worker and it came through with the fans. Maybe not the best worker, but not as bad as a lot of people say.

  • I cant believe ANYONE would walk around looking like that..

  • @Chrisdrumz you're an idiot

  • @danteras23 Let me ask, would YOU walk around like that if you were him? He's not as bad as Valentine though.

  • @Chrisdrumz He's 50 years old. He's retired. I don't know what you want him to look like. He's not wrestling anymore. Probably doesn't even work out anymore. He looks fine.

  • @danteras23 It's just the hair. No big deal.

  • fuckin cowboy wishg id have seen more of him

  • Now i understand why Ric Flair never droped the to Lex Lugar(Nothing bad against Lex,actually more attribute to Naich on the selection of who he wanted to wear the strap).

Because of what Barry Windham just said in this video.

If Lex would've been easier to work with and not soo stiff he would've had the World Championship Belt a couple times

  • @businessfreedom That maybe true but how many times did Barry when the WCW tittle. lol

  • barry belongs in the hall

  • barry windham was so much more better lookin no homo wayy back wen hes almost unreconizable.. dam he was great

  • damnnnnnn 22-23 stitches smh

  • What is the name of the DVD from which this is taken?

  • @Papsmeas must be that four horsemen dvd that was released.

  • hell yeah windham was great...i miss those days....

  • i like how wwe is throwing Lugar under the bus, Larry is a great guy!

  • Barry is so cool. I never was a big fan of his back in the day, but I am now after watching all the other guys speak so highly of him.

  • Damn...Barry Windham looks like Greg Allman now.

  • I have this dvd. The horsemen were so cool back in the day.

  • if you think cena is a bad worker you should see some workers back in the day, luger, warrior etc, horrible! they were just bodies there for cosmetic value

  • Lex Loogie's torture rack move was awesome.

  • barry could out work 90% of the guys in the hall of fame

  • I love how "shoot-esque" WWE DVD's are nowadays.

  • wasn't Barry Windham a jobber in WWF or am i thinking of someone else.

  • your thinking of someone else, possibly his brother Kendall Windaham

  • Barry was in the WWF 3 times wrestling. The first time was with Mike Rotundo as the US Express. The second time was as "The Widowmaker" - very short lived, then as "The Stalker" and lastly I believe witb JBL as "The New Blackjacks." I don't think he was ever considered a jobber in that territory.

  • I think i got him confused with Barry Horowitz

  • @Mr1990Noah You might be thinking of Barry Horowitz.

  • Larry was, is and will always be a BUM

  • Jeez, look at how young Windham still looks after all these years. He has to be the best aging wrestler of all time. He should be in HOF just for that.

  • I remember seeing a show somewhere where Eric Bischoff was talking about what he paid Luger to be on the first Nitro someone (Triple H I think) said that if he paid hi a dime he got ripped off for nine cent.

  • I'm surprised Triple H had time to say that, being that he can't get his face out of Vince's ass!

  • he's right luger sucked as far a falent in the ring. he had power and looks and that's it. barry was a true legend

  • Highly under-rated wrestler and one heck of a nice guy....deserves Hall of Fame..!!!

  • LARRY!

  • Barry Windham is looking a lot like Greg Allman these days.

  • Paul Roma... WWF jobber to Four Horseman. WTF??

  • Is Windham in the HOF yet? If not, he should be.

  • are they makin a Luger dvd? cant believe pople call him larry.

  • Comment removed

  • Windham was telling the truth about Luger. Luger was over for his look/physique. He was not for his mic and in ring skills. Everyone that had a match with Luger pretty much had to carry him.

  • @thunder0925 Its funny how people like to trash Luger for his lack of skills but everybody loves guys like Batista who make Lex look like Bret Hart or Ric Flair.

  • @IrishKyokushin I wouldn't say Batista makes Luger look like Hart or Flair because that's an insult to both Flair and Hart but Batista isn't the best worker in the business, but c'mon let's be honest, in today's wrestling, who really HAS TO be? Batista is a freak and gets over on his looks, plus, Vince pays him pretty well. Men like Ric & Bret had to work their asses off to allow a point where men like Dave gets paid millions.

  • amen.

  • @thunder0925 damn so he was a stiff also.

  • @BLACKFONZIRELLI

Actually no. Windham was agile. He should have been World Champion more than once. I put him in the same catgory with Sid, Danny Spivey, and Taker. Eventhough Taker is the best out of all of those guys.

  • @thunder0925 no i said luger was a stiff. yeah i agree with u. i've always felt the same way about sid, barry, dan and taker same category. i think said was ok. but barry is my guy.

  • @thunder0925 BULLSHIT!!!!!!!

  • @mar104u Barry is right about Lex.

  • @mar104u

???? LOL about the some of you so called wrestling experts. Luger was stiff and over for his physique. That is all!!

  • @thunder0925 It's Lugar, not "Luger". If you're going to criticise someone, at least spell his name right.

  • @gowallygo

What an idiot!!! LOL!!!! Pardon me but you need to learn how to spell after reading your comment. I refuse to get into an argument here on You Tube like most people do. I don't have the time. Get a life!!

  • @thunder0925 It is a European spelling, and is not incorrect. And even if it were, at least I know enough about wrestling to spell Lugar correctly. You fail again.

  • @gowallygo

Well for someone that has been in the wrestling ring before like myself. I tell you what I will take you to the ring and teach you a little lesson LOL!

  • @thunder0925 true but there was once a time.....a long long time ago in early NWA days where he was quite a good worker but he believed his own hype and lost the passion and started phoining in his performances

  • wooooooo

  • Say what you will, but Jeff Jarrett was (by far) the worst horseman. Jarrett has never been over in his career, and his personality just didn't fit with that group.

  • agreed he is shit.

  • oh and mongo was shit aswell, didnt fit,.arn, tully ,flair windham are THE horsemen

  • i know they had their problems with ole. But i always liked ole in the horseman

  • HE technically was not in the group, because the angle was that not everyone was convince he was trust worthy enough. That is why he was never given the traditional horseman beat-down.

  • The worst horseman??? Hardly, I think your forgetting a man by the name of Paul Roma, he did not fit the mold of the Horseman

  • Jarrett's worse, in my opinion. In fact, Jarrett should have been a jobber, much like Paul Roma. Jarrett has no talent whatsoever.

  • tank/windham rotunda looks ALOT like him...not just because hes barrys nephew (barrys sis is t/w rotundas mom)

  • Christ he looks old.

  • windham = HOF 2010

  • Holy shit, Barry & Valentine almost look the same in their old age

  • And not many of us are in the same shape we were 20 years ago either.

  • I have heard that Barry did like to party and eventually did let himself go physically. But, he has had many injuries as well that I think contributed to his physical condition. He has had numerous back and knee surgeries and probably is no longer able to work out the way that he used to. Plus he is pushing 50 now. Not many former wrestlers who are now in their 40s, 50s or older look the way they used to as is to be expected.

  • Windham looks like the junior gorg from Fraggle Rock here lol

  • Windham isnt a sissy at all, guys who hurt other guys in the ring, accidently or otherwise, are considered the lowest of the low. One of Bret Hart's biggest prides is that he and his opponents never got hurt in the ring. Goldberg took TREMENDOUS heat for the kick that basically ended Bret's career, and that was 100% an accident by a green guy trying to be stiffer then he should have. An accidental elbow like that laying a guy open would generate huge heat in the locker room.

  • Luger was clumsy in the ring, but he was popular at the height of the steroid era and looked good. Watch his last couple of years when he took bumps...he looked like he was sitting down instead of being knocked down...still liked him, though

  • It's funny, the best Lex Luger ever looked was in matches with Barry Windham. Especially when he beat him for the vacant W.C.W. title way back when he started using the "Attitude Adjustment" Piledriver with Harley Race as his manager. Quite nasty actually. Aside from that short run with Race he was terrible. He used the same old moves and hardly ever performed them well. He didn't even seem to be as strong as he looked. What happened?

  • whoever mentioned the wrestler was dead on its a great movie for a wrestling fan and a good movie for a casual fan

  • I mentioned it. Yes, it was a great movie and you don't have to be a wrestling fan even to enjoy it. I have to say that the movie was about as close to the "real thing" as it gets. Great performance by Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood. Rourke did all of his own stunts and even actually "bladed" during one of the matches.

  • barry windham was as good as anybody in his day FACT

  • @ant8tfive <----Barry & Jack Brisco were my 2 faorite wrestlers in the day & I remember meeting Barry in Miami, Florida at the Miami Beach Auditoruim & got a picture of him wearing the NWA Florida T.V. belt & told him that he was alot much better than Luger. Not b/c he wasn't muscle-bound, but he had moves & very excellent wrestling skills & he was a real nice guy tot alk to. Even when he had matches again Jake Roberts, Terry or Dory Funk, Jr.

  • I meant "The Wrestler," sorry...LOL.

  • Just watched "The Wrester," a great movie, watch it.

  • Some of you need to lighten up. He's not bitching or bashing. He's simply telling a story about Luger when he was very green from his early days in Florida.

  • I can't really tell if he's bashing or simply re-telling a story, but Windham called Luger clumsy, which seems a little harsh.

  • or the truth?

  • I was mostly bothered by the whole "Luger was a failed Horseman" premise of this DVD segment, more than the story itself. I thought he worked well as an "apprentice" who was green but had a huge upside. His turn from the Horsemen and subsequent feuds with Flair and others, really did wonders for his career . I definitely remember thinking Luger was a big deal as a rookie because he was a Horseman, and kind of a wild card. He maintained the wild card role throughout his career.

  • Good point but at least The Four Horsemen didnt have Virgil,Scott Norton,Bryan Adams, and every other bore in the group. They did have Paul Roma though. Advantage Horsemen

  • I think it has become trendy to bash on Luger "because he was not a great worker" forgetting the context of the early to mid 80's. He wasn't any worse of a worker than the road warriors, Nikita Koloff, ultimate warrior, hogan etc who all got the gig because of their physiques/images (and I like most of them also). Tom Zenk is always talked about as a great worker but I found him boring and vanilla. I enjoyed Luger matches. I don't remember Flair having anything bad to say about him.

  • look, there were plenty of failed horsemen. Luger, Paul Roma, Jeff Jarrett, Sid Vicious, etc. but luger was one of the worst horsemen in history. he used the horsemen to bully promoters in wcw and the wwf to push himself farther than he would have gone

  • mongo was far worse

  • Barry was a truly gifted guy ,too bad his only Worid Championship tIitle run was over shadowed by Flairs war with WCW

  • Accidents happen, this is pro wrestling. People get cuts, bumps, bruises, and breaks all the time. Deal with it.

  • Test was found dead in florida. Another loss

  • I saw that on the internet. So many of these guys dying too soon. I am not familar with this guy though. I haven't really watched wrestling that much lately.

  • jesus...they really need to have a health care system for these guys...i just read that foul play may have been involved with test, though

  • I read that the police didn't suspect foul play, but that was when news just broke about it. But "foul play" means that someone else was involved, or that it was a homicide. It was suspected at the time that he had either committed suicide, or that he died from something else.

  • Yeah, I erroneously read the article...thanks. A quick skim, you know?

  • Does anyone know what Barry is doing now since he is no longer with the WWE? I can't find any current info on him. Serious answers only please....no smart-ass remarks please. Don't tell me he is working at the car wash or at McDonald's.

  • 80swrestlingfan, barry is retired in florida, him and dan spivey were putting on a few indy shows, but lost money and shut it down.

  • Thanks for the reply. So, since he and Dan Spivey shut down the Indy shows Barry is not working doing anything? Whatever Barry is doing, I wish him well.

  • He was at the 2008 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Orlando, Florida last year, Wrestlemania XXIV and Raw the next night. He occasionally shows up at WWE Wrestling Shows.

  • Barry was employed at that time by the WWE as a producer and yes, I saw a pic of him at the awards last year. If you didn't know he was let go a few months ago along with some other people from his producer's job due to economic cut backs by the WWE. I guess what I was asking is what Barry is doing currently, right now. Thanks for the reply though.

  • It would make sense for WWE to hire him as a Trainor down in Florida Championship Wrestling.

  • Thanks for your reply. But, Barry was employed last year as a producer for the WWE. That was why you would occasionally see him on TV. He was let go recently (within the last few months) from his producer's job due to economic cut backs by WWE. My question was what is he doing right now. Nobody really seems to know I guess. He might just be taking some time off I suppose.

  • Holy mother of crap.....Windham is looking damn old

  • LOL @ your one and only tag 'Rasslin'

  • That's right, DADDEH!

  • The Stalker Barry Windham!

  • Can we say Barry Windham to TNA. Barry is the man.

  • i like lex luger he was better than what he was given credit for hell he drew money hell

  • Well, some bad news for Barry. In an article I read a few days ago it was stated he has been let go from his producer's job with WWE as part of a cost-cutting move on their part. I saw another article that stated that Barry was not giving proper instructions to the wrestlers he worked with. But most of the articles I saw stated it was not his job performance by economics which cost Barry his job. I wish him well and hope he rebounds in 2009.

  • Perfectly said 80swrestlingfan. Genetics and lifestyle is the key. But truly looks are only skin deep. Barry doesn't look bad at all.I too know some people who looked 40 in their 20's. I think you have to be confident in yourself and your looks cause it's natural to age. All these ads and media make it seem like it's a sin to look your age. Some of hollywood look so bad with all that surgery to their face. But that's just my opinion

  • I'm sure if you struck a match anywhere near Hollywood, CA the entire city would melt because everything and everyone who lives there is made of plastic and silicone. LOL.

  • The biggest mystery in the sport is why Barry Windham never became a major superstar. Nice guy, spectacular wrestler.

  • he never got that shot at the title reign i believe, he was pretty bitter over that and rightfully so, i believe it was when flair was leaving wcw to go to wwf with the world title at the time and calling himself "the real worlds champion"

  • YEP! or Kendall or Kevin Von Erich or Dustin (as himself)

  • Well, if only they came up about 20 years later. They could be pushed as 2nd-gen superstars and main eventers. I mean Randy Orton gets pushed well past where his father ever was, at only 24. Same with Cody Rhodes and Dibiase.

  • Interesting. It's amazing watching these guys when you're a kid thinking that everything is great at face value when things are bad behind the scenes. Unbelievable.

  • Luger was a clumsy non talking idiot!!!

  • cool guy, very soft spoken. i have to learn how to talk like him.

  • Also, some people just age better than others. Some of it is genetics, some of it is lifestyle or a combination of both. I have seen some people who look younger at age 40 than some people look at age 30. Just a difference in people I guess.

  • Hey if you want to see a former wrestler who looks horrible just look at Ric Flair. Now, I know Ric was "The Man," but he looks like 20miles of bad road this day and time. He has aged horribly even though he is almost 60 years old. No disrespect to Ric's past wrestling abilities, he was great. Barry was an awesome wrestler as well. Barry looks like a "super model" compared to Ric though. LOL.

  • Look at the age difference. Barry WIndam is 49 years old and Ric Flair is 59 years old.

  • Actually Barry is 48. His date of birth is July 4, 1960. Ric will be 60 in March 2009. I realize the age difference between the two men. But, I still think even at nearly 60, Ric looks rough. But, Ric has led a hard, party-hearty lifestyle for over 35 years since becoming a wrestler. Barry has too but not to the extent Ric has. These are just my opinions but since many people out here seem to want to say that Barry looks bad at his age, I think there are other ex-wrestlers who look worse.

  • You know, age is a bad thing. Yeah, there's no upside to getting older at all. It's all negative. But they try and look for a silver lining and, you know, say that you gain a certain amount of wisdom, when in fact, you know, I would trade all the wisdom that I've gained for, you know, let's say, 30, 35 years wiped off the calendar.

  • LOL ,You know they say Youth is wasted on the Young.

I think everybody wants that "Fountain of Youth",but you just gotta Age gracefully!!!

  • Old isn't in the years since you've been born, a lot of people age really slowly, and some people (especially meth/heroin addicts) age really quickly.

  • Agreed ,too many losses of life in Pro Wrestling behind drugs and steroids.

  • I am doing a study right now on that question, as it relates to baseball.

  • yeah, just look at Amy Winehouse if you want to see what too many drugs will do to you and she is still in her 20s. LOL.

  • The Four Horseman dvd is amazing. Get it if youre intu 80s wrestling

  • Yes definitely, great video.

  • I like 80s wrestling, but I wasn't really that impressed by this video set. The original Four Horsemen were a nice idea, but I think NWO outdid them 3-fold in both star power and longevity. Plus when the 4H were originally formed, the face stars of WCW were really not that great, and the heels seemed to dominant. Magnum and Dusty were about the only ones, and Magnum tragically had his career cut short. Nikita, the Steiners, Luger and Sting brought some strong babyfaces to the mix.

  • Barry windham is one heck of a guy and wrestler. I mean I'm a guy and aint gay but must say he looks good for his age and all of us gain weight and lose hair or whatever. Its natural. Windham is the best; a real wrestler compared to wannabe's of 99.9% if WWEs' roster.

  • luger was a dick, brody said screw him..

  • There is nothing old or fat about Barry he is still one hot man of course he doesn't sit on a computer calling ppl names he is and always will be one hell of a man!!!

  • You are right Diane. Some of the people making comments out here apparently are either very stupid or very immature or maybe both. Apparently all some people know how to do is compare Barry's looks to Gregg Allman and Greg Valentine (which is very insulting, especially the comment about Gregg Valentine - in my opinion anyway). That or they call him old and fat. Well, I have news for you all, if you live long enough, you age, that's natural and on occasion people gain weight too. WTF!

  • Also, I think considering Barry's age at 48, and the life he has lived as a pro wrestler he looks pretty damn good. What the hell is a 48-year-old man supposed to look like to you people? Are you that ignorant? I can think of several former pro wrestlers that look far worse but I won't mention any names because I am not gonna put myself on the immature name-calling level like some folks out here. PEOPLE AGE, PEOPLE GAIN WEIGHT SOMETIMES WITH AGE! FORMER PRO WRESTLERS ARE NO EXCEPTION!!!

  • Luger and Goldberg should have fought each other more often... two clumsiest wrestlers going at it

  • thats an insult, Goldberg is WAY better then Luger!! Put Luger did have awesome moments and times in his career. Who could forget "the man made in the U.S.A" gimmick.

  • I remember him and Curt Hennig vs Benoit and Malenko in WCW

  • Sad that Windham got old and fat, because he really could wrestle in his day.

  • i was never a luger fan but i thought it was funny when brody scared the hell out of him!!!

  • Luger, Goldberg and Ahmed Johnson would have been the matches of matches for big dumb oafs.

I would have loved to have seen Haku beat the shiet out of all of them
