@molitva2007 To jog the random number generator. They call it every time they bounce, and they need to call it a lot to get it into the appropriate state.
A ground-breaking glitch for sure. There's a debate on TASvideos on whether or not this run should be in a separate category. Personally, I believe that if Super Mario Land 2, which uses a similar glitch, constitutes an any% run, this should too.
wow davetoms got ripped into like wet toilet paper. Its to bad for him, that the majority of people who watch this video and read the comments will probably block his sorry ass.
Funny stuff =D
Also, i havent seen this before, thats pretty cool, i also havent seen the p-switch, fish glitch before either. Theirs so many of these things in the game, its no wonder the lifetime of this game has lasted so long.
@davetoms1 Except there's an actual SMV for both this and the original glitch, showing definite proof that this is real. Undeniable proof is wonderful, eh?
@Kaizoman666 What proof? You just wrote a bunch of words. Evidence is presented, not just talked about. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying I need to see that evidence in front of me before I consider it valid.
@davetoms1 Then visit the Super Mario World thread on TASvideos, download the SMV, download an emulator and watch it. If you need more proof use a memory watcher and debugger
@davetoms1 I mean, really, aren't you the least bit embarrassed to so loudly exclaim you won't believe anything without evidence, and yet you accuse this guy of making an edited video without having any proof whatsoever? And then to demand evidence as opposed to looking for it yourself?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@dada78641 No, I don't feel bad demanding evidence nor to "accuse this guy of making an edited video." Based on my experience, this is a "Tool Assisted Speedrun" (TAS) video
TAS says their tools "allow for undoing mistakes, slow-motion gameplay, and even in some cases utilizing robots to do our bidding..." to "overcome human limitations to complete games with extremely high precision" ~ TASVideos[dot]org About Us page
@davetoms1 No, you actually said "video editing software", which is not at all what TAS tools are. You're just backpedaling now, probably because you realize how stupid the accusation was to begin with.
Besides that, nobody's asking you to be amazed at this guy's playing skills. It's nuts that you would even bring that up as if anyone's trying to pass this off as realtime playing. Making a TAS is specifically about overcoming human skill limits. You just really don't know much of anything.
That should be in a TAS!!!!

I don't praise this player's (assisted) skills.
I praise the technology.

@davetoms1 Well, here's some proof.
Original, to the Yoshi's: goo()gl/6DGIH
This one: goo()gl/mhF0H
(replace both of the () with . )
Go ahead and download those SMV's, then open them in Snes9x. Happy now?
