There is a difference between a different view, and being "blinded" or "closed minded". The best example I can give is if someone said 1+1=3. Of course, people will argue it's 2.
This is obviously more complex to politics, but there are some situations where this holds true. I'd suggest watching "No End In Sight" to see a mostly unbiased doco about the Iraq war and how it played/ing out.

Actually Joan, the Iraq war was planned BEFORE 9/11. A friend in the Marines, at the time he was a master sgt. was at a speech at Camp Pendleton shortly after Bush came to power. At that visit it was made perfectly clear that they were gonna go to Iraq to kick some arse.
The war in Afganistan was to simply secure the land needed for the pipeline. And to seize control of the poppy fields, notice how since we've gotten there poppy production is way up.

It's not that everyone is ignorant, some people are actually happy that Saddam was taken out. It's a fucking quagmire, I fully agree. I think some strategically inserted Green Berets/Seals/etc could have accomplished the same result. The fear was taking out the leadership would cause the country to implode on itself, but it seems to have happened anyway. He was a necessary evil in that region. It was uncontrollable, and you can't gain order and control in that region by being a nice, honest, diplomatic and virtuous leader. It just wouldn't work. Saddam on the other hand was ruthless, brutal and feared, and was able to keep it relatively stable, nomather how many people he had to kill.
Now that the US has unstabilized the region again, how many more people are going to die in the next few decades?

As far as 'stability' goes, the mid-east has never been stable, with or without US involvement.
In history, many dictators have been thought to provide 'stability' to those with their heads in the sand. After all, Mussolini got the trains to run on time and Hitler put Germany to work. Stability of this sort is over-rated. The mid-east is better without Saddam but those of you on the left will never admit it.

If the US stays out(1920-1941) they are criticized. If US military power is used in Europe to stop the USSR(1945-1989), it's ok. If US power is used to take out two brutal murderous tyrants in the mid-east, it's wrong.
