This is my Grandfather, we are the children of his mother, Emily Hollow Horn Bear, the daughter of a great chief, Iron Shell. The traditional ways he taught me always stayed with me and I use them to direct my own life to this day. He is an elder who carries on our ways for his children, grandchildren and the generations beyond, trying in his time to make sure the Lakota ways carry on and we, as a people, carry on our way. Ohitika emacyapi naha Wiwila wakpala hetan wa Ulo. Hau hecetu yelo.

What a wonderful, positive way to think of our monthly cycle. Russell Means also talks about this in a reverent way. How refreshing! Pilamayaye!
