  • its funny how even damon albarn sucked in 1987

  • this is so pop

  • Enjoyed this. Adroit comment on 80s London. Very timely in 2010.

Not sure if I can hear a sax (the brass is synth), but Graham is there on guitar, low in the mix.

The video is for On Your Own, not MOR.

Re. MOR: Eno and Bowie were added to the credits on 'Blur' after the similarity to Boys Keep Swinging was observed by EMI people... Early pressings of the album do not contain this credit (there was no colloboration with Eno, therefore).

  • It's not Blur (yet), It's 'Circus' With Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon and Dave Rowntree.

    Sounds a bit like Jamiroquai..

  • Lol. The singer is American, this isn't Damon.

  • @soypedofrito This is definitely Damon. It's 100% his voice; the singer also sounds English.

  • where the hell did u get this song?

  • whoa whoa, so he was just 19/20? He's just so fucking talented. He's a genius, and I'm not exaggerating, I really believe he is.

  • hahhahhah oh yeah he looks badass

  • @TheKontosuburbian Sorry it was all a "Blur" as opposed to a Baker's dozen...I sit corrected....Our fund raiser concert yesterday was socially a success and well attended though the organisation of the performances was in one word haphazardchaoticalfarce!! Oh well ,if you have any curiosity about the band you can see a couple of uploads of ORANGEY on my site...gawd blesss you...!

  • Damon should sing more things like this!! dammit

  • @TheKontosuburbian

M.O.R. was co-written with Eno? Oh! No reference to him on "13" though,curious..

    Cheers for the info TheKontosurbian...

  • he was dancing crazy! I mean, like really moving around, throwing some crazy moves right there, haha. Lovely!

  • I love this song .. is great ... Damon is handsome...I like

  • He's amazing. How old must he have been?

  • 19 I think?

  • his singing reminds me of him trying to sound like david bowie

  • @jagofar

Right! Always him and Graham had the influence of Bowie .Check out "BLUR" the album "Middle Of The Road" which has a passing nod to "Boys Keep Swinging" and "Boys And Girls" guitar solo has an hommage to Adrien Belew and his work on Bowie...and what a nerd I am!!!

  • From this to Blur to Gorrilaz - Damon Albarn is a talented human being!!!

  • This was just a little thing he did. It wasn't with blur. blur were officially together in 1988.

  • Isn't Blur BUT is the same blur formation. You can see Graham, Alex and Dave in the video.

This song was recorded when the pre-blur band, named Circus at first, and then Seymour begun a contract with Food Records. Finally It was never released who knows why, and a few years ago it was leaked on the net.

  • Hey, no, wait a minute. The clip is from the song "On Your Own" lol.

Anyway, the song was performed when they was Seymour and the rest that i told is true.

  • @tripylsd you can see graham, alex and dave in the video because this is the video for another blur song. on your own.

  • they have.

  • It's like an early XTC jazz piece ;) Sounds good! Groovy ...

  • like you got the perfect word for this song....groooovy...lol :)

  • I thought it was 1988.

  • No, it can't have been recorded in 1987.

  • Damon was a Tea boy at the record studio and mae enough tea to earn time in the studio performing and that's how it came about!

  • Wow, thanks for uploading this...prior to this, the earliest music I've heard from him would probably be a "Sing" demo. I didn't even realize he had work this early!

  • who does play the guitar in this song ?

  • graham coxon was with damon at this point...its probably him

  • sounds a bit like david brent's song in the Office, the one where he wears george michael-esque white linen in the self-financed video heh heh

  • Hehe using the On Your Own Video xD Great Job :)

  • DAMON ALBARN RULES THE WORLD

  • this song was released as an illiegal mp3 at some point. Bound to make it on youtube at some point.

  • seems quite sublime-esque to me

  • So young and yet so talented.

    he's underrated genius.

  • It's about time Damon was honored by the Queen for his talent and contribution to music for the last 20 years he really does deserves it, Kylie's got one already ffs.

    I LOVE BLUR!

  • Something tells me that Damon might have been a hip-hop star if he was born 5 or 6 years earlier and started his career in '82-'83.. I mean look at the "On Your Own" vid!

But then we wouldn't have Blur! Maybe not even Gorillaz! And certainly not the Good, the Bad, and the Queen.

    But I can still imagine can't I? :)

Plus technically he is a hip-hop star of sorts with Gorillaz.

  • And I just realized.... Damon was 19-20 when he did this song.. Holy fuck, I wish I had a voice like that when I turn 19... I mean how many rock singers had a good voice in their teens before they became famous?

Liam? Haha- I like his voice, but its not aesthetically correct. Noel? Sorry I've heard his teenage demos, not too great.

Bono, The Edge, Paul Weller, and that guy from Silverchair are the only singers I can think of other that Damon that had good voices in their teen years.

  • I think he would probably not have been a hip-hop star but a 80's pop guy...

Damon singing gansta rap... would be funny

  • Not gangster rap... hip/hop. Hip/hop has singers, rap has rappers.

  • I'd also love to have those clothes he's wearing lol. I can see myself walking down the school halls with that on.

I'd probably get called a poser by some people but I don't give a damn.

  • Isn't this ctually Circus and not Damon himself???

BTW, I love this song, it rocks!!!!

The Circus' period was waaaay better than the Seymour's period in my opinion.

  • Wow! Where did you get this??

  • I have this song and always I heard. Is good the work you make whit the video.

  • You really did a good work with the vid. On Your Own truely fits this strange but nice Domon's song.

  • wow, this is brilliant...wish it was an album

  • lols so tru, hippies run congress

  • Damon Albarn ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i REALLY LIKe this song

  • Can you send i to me?

  • This is great. Period.

  • This song was leaked on the net maybe about 7 or 8 years ago, I can't remember which site it was but had to remove it. It was made in the late 1980's when Damon helped out at a recording studio which I think was called the works. Damon was desperate to break into the music industry one way or another. Around the same time he was eager to get Graham to quit art college and form a band with him. Not long after they both formed Seymour.

  • And you learned that from...

  • Blur biography book

  • You mean the one that is entitled ????(don't rememeber the number) days?

  • you're good people

  • Reminds me of a quiet urban neighbourhood in the early morning.

  • Very fitting with the music. Want to see something else fitting? Watch Snoopy "Evetyime We Say Goodbye"-the same thing as this song.

  • All right-that's it!!! Where did you get this song?!!!!!!!

  • It could have been fake. By the way, where can I find this song? I wanna have it!!!

  • Then who's singing?

  • Then who's clip is this?

  • They make a song first, them the video. Where is the SONG from, from what album is it? Is it a single?

  • But "On Your Own" isn't called "Hippie Children"!

  • really??? they look so young there, especially dave. i wouldn´t have thought it´s the blur-era.

    thanks for the info :D

  • when did they made that video to the song? or where´s the video from?(cos they do look a bit older than in 1987... maybe around 1993 i´d say...)

  • You think right.

  • groovy man XD#

    ga suki desu :)

  • Hey VeDolaZzz my good man, do you have any idea where I can find a complete list of songs released by Damon Albarn?

  • They have it for download at the official blur website forums, just have to ask for it :)

  • Gray and Dam rulezz2. they are so cute! we love Blur!!! Kope and me. of course

  • hey, it's a cool song! :D
