Enjoyed this. Adroit comment on 80s London. Very timely in 2010.
Not sure if I can hear a sax (the brass is synth), but Graham is there on guitar, low in the mix.
The video is for On Your Own, not MOR.
Re. MOR: Eno and Bowie were added to the credits on 'Blur' after the similarity to Boys Keep Swinging was observed by EMI people... Early pressings of the album do not contain this credit (there was no colloboration with Eno, therefore).
@TheKontosuburbian Sorry it was all a "Blur" as opposed to a Baker's dozen...I sit corrected....Our fund raiser concert yesterday was socially a success and well attended though the organisation of the performances was in one word haphazardchaoticalfarce!! Oh well ,if you have any curiosity about the band you can see a couple of uploads of ORANGEY on my site...gawd blesss you...!
Right! Always him and Graham had the influence of Bowie .Check out "BLUR" the album "Middle Of The Road" which has a passing nod to "Boys Keep Swinging" and "Boys And Girls" guitar solo has an hommage to Adrien Belew and his work on Bowie...and what a nerd I am!!!

Always him and Graham had the influence of Bowie .Check out "BLUR" the album "Middle Of The Road" which has a passing nod to "Boys Keep Swinging" and "Boys And Girls" guitar solo has an hommage to Adrien Belew and his work on Bowie...and what a nerd I am but I love Bowie's songwriting so it boosted my interest in Albarn's songwriting!
Isn't Blur BUT is the same blur formation. You can see Graham, Alex and Dave in the video.
This song was recorded when the pre-blur band, named Circus at first, and then Seymour begun a contract with Food Records. Finally It was never released who knows why, and a few years ago it was leaked on the net.
Wow, thanks for uploading this...prior to this, the earliest music I've heard from him would probably be a "Sing" demo. I didn't even realize he had work this early!
It's about time Damon was honored by the Queen for his talent and contribution to music for the last 20 years he really does deserves it, Kylie's got one already ffs.
Something tells me that Damon might have been a hip-hop star if he was born 5 or 6 years earlier and started his career in '82-'83.. I mean look at the "On Your Own" vid!
But then we wouldn't have Blur! Maybe not even Gorillaz! And certainly not the Good, the Bad, and the Queen.
But I can still imagine can't I? :)
Plus technically he is a hip-hop star of sorts with Gorillaz.
And I just realized.... Damon was 19-20 when he did this song.. Holy fuck, I wish I had a voice like that when I turn 19... I mean how many rock singers had a good voice in their teens before they became famous?
Liam? Haha- I like his voice, but its not aesthetically correct. Noel? Sorry I've heard his teenage demos, not too great.
Bono, The Edge, Paul Weller, and that guy from Silverchair are the only singers I can think of other that Damon that had good voices in their teen years.
This song was leaked on the net maybe about 7 or 8 years ago, I can't remember which site it was but had to remove it. It was made in the late 1980's when Damon helped out at a recording studio which I think was called the works. Damon was desperate to break into the music industry one way or another. Around the same time he was eager to get Graham to quit art college and form a band with him. Not long after they both formed Seymour.

Damon singing gansta rap... would be funny

Not gangster rap... hip/hop. Hip/hop has singers, rap has rappers.

I'd also love to have those clothes he's wearing lol. I can see myself walking down the school halls with that on.
I'd probably get called a poser by some people but I don't give a damn.

Isn't this ctually Circus and not Damon himself???
BTW, I love this song, it rocks!!!!
The Circus' period was waaaay better than the Seymour's period in my opinion.
