i have recently installed win 7 x86 ultimate and evr is fine except for the media buttons on the right...in the beginning they were like dead, just on but no flashing when touching them...so i have updated the synaptics touchpad etc drivers and now when i touch them they become more bright, meaning they feel sth...but there is a red constant light, the last of the media buttons at the bottom, which was never on while i had acer's vista....;-/
@Alexboooom yeah, you must use the one provided by acer for Vista. Such drivers are specially modified to suit the laptop model so using a default or original won't work. : )
aha im watching your video using the same laptop as you right now. ubt i got lot of problem when upgrade to windows 7 hp. it freezes when it is too hot. is there any way to make it stop =_=
@Pawoukk :: The thing is, It's working fine, but, the NVidia Driver isn't good, because the screen keeps flickering.. It's annoying.. Do you know how to remove that? Do you have that problem or not? If you don't can you send me the link where you download your driver PLEASE? Thank you! :)
@RudolphLesire There is a workaround to get rid of the flickering which is to stop the graphic card from changing down clock speed. You can try search for disabling powermizer windows 7 or something like that. For me, I used another method which is the risky method and that is flashing the VGA BIOS to older version and that stopped the flickering.
@RudolphLesire // Hi, I have Windows 7 on this laptop for 2 months and It works perfektly. I just used drivers for Windows Vista (in my case for x64 system).
no fair he has graphic card i have a shitty intel ima 965 and i have the same fucking laptop expect its the 5920!!! could have one tell how to upgrade my laptop which graphic card to use and all that stuff
@MatoVuc my laptop still lives with the only problem like graphic card overheating and also hard disk jamming up at times, where windows goes unresponsive and will/will not blue screen.
i've got this thing for about 3 years now and it's served me faithfully... that being said, i've had to dismantle it several times, do windows vista and 7 a few times over and fuck around with laptopvideo2go ... currently using the 257.15 on x64 win7pro...
this laptop has survived several drops from decent hights and kept working fine...
i have had some overheat issues, but reapplying the thermal paste and stable graphics drivers have fixed that...
with that said, this laptop is a bitch to take apart, because they hid the dmn screws whereever they could find even partially concealed space, and a magnetic tipped screwdriver is a must, because there is apsolutely no way you will get them out otherwise. also, to give it more air, i've improvised a pedestal to lift the back part of the table. this is no necesity, unless you're going to run any more jarring game and don't want to buy the laptop cooling pad thing...
I have the same laptop and I want to upgrade from vista to windows 7, but I have one question, the buttons, do they still work?.. I'm talking about the ones on the sides of the laptop (play/pause, stop, record.. and the other side: mail, browser, ect...)
hm, ive got the exact same laptop as you with the same specs. spot on.
but i got a problem here ever since i installed windows 7 pro 64-bit (build 7600)... the cooling fan just never stops running, supposedly the cpu is getting hotter than usual... have you ever encountered the same problem before? if so, what did you do to stop win 7 from heating up the laptop so much? i am completely clueless...
@limzming I have the same problem as you, where the fan just wont stop running. This started when I installed win 7. I've been searching for a solution, but haven't found one yet.
Can you tell me which driver you use the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT? I have a problem with drivers for 64-bit, also with 32-bit. Appear to me to horizontal lines and constantly blink screen. I have the Acer 5920G, too.
hey can i install windows 7 on my laptop too i have the same laptop i have windows 7 disk and windows vista home premium is preinstalled in my lapi please help
thanks, did this successfully earlier and tried to post back, but youtube didn't let me post for some strange reason. anyway, disabling Powermizer is indeed the way to go. altho, interesting, the flicker still occurs very occasionally, eg. when starting up a new programme. but it's so rare that i can happily live with it. :)
I own an acer 5920g with windows 7 too, and i have the same flickering on the screen. What's PowerMizer, is an acer proper software ? like acer eMpowering of the acer built in program.

actually, it's not about better or not. it's when you have the proper hardware you would want to go 64-bit especially when you have more than 4GB of memory.
lmao, my 5920G is the strongest on earth at the moment. If you want info PM me trough youtube or something, i can help you make yours faster if you want :)

crobeco22 2 years ago
that is the well known problem with 8600M GT graphic card, it's known as flickering for what I know.
in order to get rid of the flickering, you either disable powermizer or (risky method) flash the graphic card bios to older version.
limzming 2 years ago
Comment removed
crobeco22 2 years ago
@limzming Are there any instructions to return the BIOS to an older version?
I turned off the Powermizer. Now reduced blinking, but not solved the problem, still flickering.
crobeco22 2 years ago
you'll need a version of nvflash which can be ran on windows and also the older bios. all of these can be found by googling.
remember to backup your bios if you ever managed to find and gonna flash it.

as long as it doesn't flicker too much that causes 'distress', it should be good enough. =D

im using desktop drivers 191.07.
yes, the flickering happened to me too, which is due to PowerMizer, and I managed to resolve it by flashing an older BIOS found on the internet.
the workaround will be to disable powermizer.

mostly native and from Windows Update. except for graphic, sound and the card reader drivers.

gielfransen 2 years ago
why installing 64-bit would be better? I dont have the know-how about this difference between 32 x 64...
thiagojpdemiranda 2 years ago
64 Bit is the only OS version that will let you use more ram then just 3, which i need sinds i have 4.
gielfransen 2 years ago
sorry replied the wrong comment. So why would the 64 better?
thiagojpdemiranda 2 years ago
actually, it's not about better or not. it's when you have the proper hardware you would want to go 64-bit especially when you have more than 4GB of memory.
limzming 2 years ago
Ok that is my point why would one go to 64-bit? what is the difference? I have 4GB on my 5920g as well. My hardware would be:
Intel Core 2Duo T9300 2.5GHz 6 MB L2
Geforce 8600 GT 512 MB
4 GB RAM
320 GB HD
What do you suggest me and why you'd suggest that. Please some help :)
thiagojpdemiranda 2 years ago
simply to say.. if you don't use 64-bit, you will be wasting 1GB of memory.

i use a flash drive to install the windows and it took less than 15mins. i do not have much data so backed up them before doing a clean install.

hey... I have a acer 5920G too... how often does your laptop crash? Do you recommend it for daily use... does nvidia work? do mic office work? how about wireless and ethernet does it? and the usb hubs do all of them work? and I have a 6500 build... where can I get the updates to make it build 7000 thanks!!
markhee007 2 years ago
everything works just like it's factory settings. no crash, no weird signs.

for example the windows 7 crashed in drive C and my files are in drive D will my files in drive D be destroyed or deleted? ty!
markhee007 2 years ago
forgot to add that the newest windows 7 is build 7057. you can get it easily from torrents.
as for daily use - yes, i do recommend but be noted that windows 7 is in BETA stage and it will still be your decision whether to use it daily.

if i install the 6500 build, will the windows update work... or in other words will it function normally and install the necessary updates?
markhee007 2 years ago
your files in drive D will remain intact.
windows update might work and might not work for build 6500. i dont know really. all i know is build 7000 is officially supported by microsoft and any updates will go to that build.

markhee007 2 years ago

limzming Do you play Gta 4 on win 7 and which fps is?????
budva123 3 years ago
yea I tried playing GTA4 on this laptop.
the FPS is about 20+ with all low. (Render at High)
the version I played on this laptop is 1.0.1.
never tried 1.0.2.
4GB RAM is recommended for this game, or else there is too much to load.
