Jade Dust Eyes brings back so many memories for me.. I still have a soft place in my heart for the (wannabe) green eyed girl who made me love this band. I listened to this today in the room with the woman I think I'm falling in love with.. It still makes me feel the same way it used too...
I don't know how to feel about their early stuff. I mean, their later work (Goat, Pony Express, 10,000) is SO much more refined. But I guess there's SOMETHING to their older, coarser sound.
I posted a couple of their songs from a 1990 show. I wish I had more. I contacted Chris but he told me, "check YouTube"!!! Maybe we should all look in our attics.
I remember a few Fidelity Jones shows there that were incredible. I also think the very first Jawbox show was there, opening for Shudder To Think, and Jay busted his guitar and suddenly their set was over.
damn...Fidelity Jones? NICE!!! I saw Jawbox and Shudder To Think play in SLC-great show, unfortunately I don't think many people were into Shudder To Think-which is sad, they were a great band!
I saw many shows at BBQ Iguana between 1988-1990. Between John Galbraith or Pam and Shawna putting on shows there or Safari club when things weren't happening in the halls, DC Space or 930. It was a hole in the wall. I remember at one show, someone spraying mace in that place and it hit everyone. Although the iguana was actually on P street 2.5 blocks west of logan circle, a bit south of U street corridor.

This was several years before Get Your Goat.

An acquired taste, but an excellent band nevertheless.

@suggadeg I understand, but for me, there was no "aquisition" about it. Get Your Goat grabbed me by the balls when I first heard it.
Different strokes, I suppose.
This recording hardly does them justice, BTW. All the wrong freq's are amplified.

I saw Shudder to Think a few times in DC back in the day. I lost my copy of Curses, Spells, Voodoo, Mooses in a house flood.

Another great and long lost band. Saw 'em play 2/3 times in London in 91/92 and they were excellent. Who remembers the Holy Rollers?

I need to put the "Pearl To Stone" from Wilson Center, you can see your flash go off when Bobby jumps at that historic moment. Funny!
