My dad used to sing this song ... I have to listen to this, Otis Redding "Sittin by the dock of the bay" and a few others on a regular basis when thinking of my dad ... great memories.
Of course. Why would they want songs that would inspire unionization when the whole system was set up to create permanent debt and restrict worker rights?
@fullmetalgod Funny how you'll get different answers on this song being restricted . I wonder what Wal Mart would do with that song if it were released today. They're anti union big time.
THAT'S a fact. First video they show you is an anti-union video during your first day. Sad when that's before even basic safety or welcome to Wal-Mart videos.
I'm pretty sure they'll give a write-up saying something about inappropriate music that may offend customers. They'd never allow that song to play WILLINGLY in the store. No matter how awesome it is just because of how powerful the message is about crappy companies that would KILL to keep slave labor.
@fullmetalgod you'll like this The Wal Mart Queen Alice opened her billion dollar 's worth of American art that she bought and has put in this museum in her holler over in Bentonville. I wrote that sure and she did it on the backs of her unfair low wage employees. This has created a firestorm of hate mail. The proudest remark was that I'm one of those left wing liberal socialist!!! I've replied that my feelings are hurt because you left out I'm a loyal UMWAmember and proud of it! I
When this came out, I was too young to write, but I memorized it, and my dad wrote it down for me. I told my sons this years later. Later still, my older son put this as my ring tone on my cell. I LOVE this song!!!!!
