Getting a College degree in Educational System in U.S. is like finishing elementary school with the final grade of "C" in POLAND. I'm sorry, ('ve been there, done that). Lol, I'm an Indian living in America. I don't even try, and I have a 4.5 weighted GPA, while taking 6 AP classes. SATs were also fairly easy. Pretty easy stuff. But I've got to admit, school in America is a hell of a lot more interesting than in India.

both of them have points. Very few of indians get in really good education and there are many excellent people among them who are hired by US companies. The missing thing is .. in India only education is the only way to sucess for most of the people, they have a high pressure to perform well, parents/teachers can beat them and push them to study while in US it is easy going. US education system has a creativity element which lacks in Indian system for sure.

There are a lot of smart Indians because there are a lot of Indians. If you have over a billion people then you are gonna have a lot more smart people than an country like Switzerland which only has 7.6 million people. But is the AVERAGE Indian smarter than the average Swiss? I don't think so and that's what really counts. I've been to both countries and if I had to live in either, I'd choose Switzerland in a microsecond. So it's a lot more complicated that the total number of smart people.

when i compare my nurs school studies w indian school. i can tell it is freaking hard. they make it so hard. so don't put down american education. it is a sacrifice you have to make. we always go to work and study , over there parents and family spoon feed u. I'm an Indian who has immigrated to the US.The point that the political environment in India is sucks for starting businesses is right. You cannot get around without bribes and extortion. Indians are more hardworking but they are stifled by the environment and end up only doing low end work with a minority doing high end research whereas in the US, you have a conducive environment for people to start businesses and start ups. Name one successful start up from India with a successful IT product.

We were not able to continue because of lack of funding. But still I joined another startup company. Often i see people having Master degree in anything in India are not possesed with the knowledge leavel expected from bachelor degree first yr. student. well i am an Indian and wanna say most of your students might be behind from most of our students, but few of you are far far ahead of the few we consider the cream of the Indian society beacuse Indian education system produce very very great learner and follower but your culture produces very great innovator and leaders.

@dekoduck hey, I'm indian too but I'm not as proud as you so I left am now in the US - better respect, more pay, descent life, good roads, life style, 100% electricity and water up time, no bribes and extortion or "donation" etc.. That's why there are still more indians trying to immigrate to US than the other way round. @dekoduck I'm thirty. I worked in India since 2004. Then left to US in 2007 and decided to make this country my home. I have gone for visits in 2008 and 2009 and have my sibblings and parents there. My life is far more comfortable, productive and easy compared to their's. My Dad cannot even pay property tax honestly without have to give the officer who demands some money. My parents came to visit last year and this year along with my brother's family. The moment you get a chance to leave, leave!

Good thing to remember though, is that it's easy to govern and lead uneducated crowd, who even with degree are still missing 80% of the knowledge. both of them have points. Very few of indians get in really good education and there are many excellent people among them who are hired by US companies. The missing thing is .. in India only education is the only way to sucess for most of the people, they have a high pressure to perform well, parents/teachers can beat them and push them to study while in US it is easy going. US education system has a creativity element which lacks in Indian system for sure.

I think all parties are right - Dunno about China - but India's educations system has miles to go - but it HAS some fantastic institutions that would put American Schools to shame. At the same time - we ALL know American's do have the best innovations - with Indians IN AMERICA adding to it - but Indians in INDIA putting out very few innovations!!
somewhere in between - India needs to learn what America got right..and America needs to learn from early Indian education - to put its kids on top!!

education system in US is indeed better than india. a lot of the so called american technologies was created by indians, israelis, chinese, russian, even iranian - some examples: hotmail (first webbased email), yahoo, ebay, youtube, google, AOL instant messenger (originally mirabilis), hyperbanner.
indian companies like BOSE in america are the best in the world. many indians are head of large companies.
america has no technology of its own but america is very good at importing the best talent.

i had an indian friend who told me the education system is brutal and awful. it is tough, but doesn't mean its better. people there study the wrong majors for the wrong reasons...they are forced to become doctors, engineers and if they fail the exam, their parents beat them or they commit suicide. there is no respect for privacy...everyone can see your grade posted after board exams.
american education may be light but the research and system are among the BEST in the world...ahead of india

There are a lot of smart Indians because there are a lot of Indians. If you have over a billion people then you are gonna have a lot more smart people than an country like Switzerland which only has 7.6 million people. But is the AVERAGE Indian smarter than the average Swiss? I don't think so and that's what really counts. I've been to both countries and if I had to live in either, I'd choose Switzerland in a microsecond. So it's a lot more complicated that the total number of smart people.

@1rootle hey I belong to the schedule caste community in India and yes there is this cast divide but with opening up of indian economy and globalization the attitude of people is also changing its slow but it is changing. There is definitely a lot of narrow minded people in every civilization but I love my country and its countrymen no matter how badly they have behaved with us. when i compare my nurs school studies w indian school. i can tell it is freaking hard. they make it so hard. so don't put down american education. it is a sacrifice you have to make. we always go to work and study , over there parents and family spoon feed u. In america, you can do what ever career you can do. some people have 2 or 3 degrees and still go to school. that's the gud thing abt american college. learning never dies in america. i luv american colleges but it is competitive

I'm an Indian who has immigrated to the US.The point that the political environment in India is sucks for starting businesses is right. You cannot get around without bribes and extortion. Indians are more hardworking but they are stifled by the environment and end up only doing low end work with a minority doing high end research whereas in the US, you have a conducive environment for people to start businesses and start ups. Name one successful start up from India with a successful IT product.

I worked in a research-based startup software company with three intelligent professors (one from I.I.T having Phd from Stony Brooks) heading the organization. We were not able to continue because of lack of funding. But still I joined another startup company. Reason my current company boss holds PhD in Mathematics from IIsc and his passion for research and innovation. I don't have any point in blaming this country. I am ready to fight.

@dekoduck I'm thirty. I worked in India since 2004. Then left to US in 2007 and decided to make this country my home. I have gone for visits in 2008 and 2009 and have my sibblings and parents there. My life is far more comfortable, productive and easy compared to their's. My Dad cannot even pay property tax honestly without have to give the officer who demands some money. My parents came to visit last year and this year along with my brother's family. The moment you get a chance to leave, leave!
