it depends on which manga you're basing your facts on. In the original manga, yes, Hiromu Arakawa stated that all homunculi (including Envy) are genderless. HOWEVER, in the anime, WHICH WAS APPROVED IN FULL BY THE SAME ARAKAWA-SENSEI WHO DRAWS THE MANGA, homunculi are whichever gender they were before death- therefore, Envy is male.

All in summary, it differs depending on which medium you use as a basis.

thats what alot of people think, Envy WAS a boy but after Envy became a homunculus He lost his gender and became envy. Even Hiromu Arakawa stated so and she knows more about fma then anyone in existance(obviously, because she created the series) and for more proof, it states in the fma profiles guide that envy has no gender. I hoped that cleared some stuff up for everybody.
