@peter3922 dude, dont discredit yourself. this song is raping my patience. my rock emsamble class is performing the whole tommy album in 2 months and this song is the only thing thats getting to me. the song is so random.
Nice playing, but where was the long acoustic guitar break? That was always my favorite part of the overture...also, just one thing, the 2nd to last chord at the end of "It's a Boy" is Em, not D. But otherwise it was perfect.
Brilliant! you nailed it. I created animation for this song for the teenage cancer trust concert at the Royal Albert Hall 2011. Been to the last two Daltrey performances of Tommy( Albert Hall and Indigo,O2), they are one tight band and you are up there with them.
At 2:03 I'm thinking "How is this guy going to pull off Touch Me Feel Me, my favorite part of the overture?" Strumming the guitar with no ability to sustain the notes like an electric guitar, how does one pull it off? Well you did, and I thank you for the excellent cover. Well Done!!!!
i have 90 copies of "TOMMY"..marching band version, london symphony, electric (moog)..and other weird versions.....YOU PLAY TOMMY BEAUTIFULLY!! After following Tommy for 30 years..I Finally found a great guitarist!!!! Keep on "tommying" out!!!
This sucks, you could have (and should have) left the strumming patterns and chords the same....but nooooooooo you have to be "unique" and change em around and what not. Utterably horrible
@peter3922 ok i will record a video to demonstrate, sorry for the haiting in the earlier comment, I was tired and frustrated at all the misrepresentation this song gets on youtube :P
@KissTheSky321 Hey dude, the joy of guitar is that everyone plays it differently, if we all sounded the same it would be fucking boring and a waste of time :-)
@jakandjakesjams thanks for the great comment. I agree as well, there are no rules on what is the correct way to play something, everyone hears songs differently and should play how they want. Pete Townshend never played anything the same way twice and I think he would be the last person to tell anyone the "correct" way to play any of his songs. Music would be very dull if no one experimented with it!
I'm sure already aware at this point but the intro's slightly off. The second chord should go right to the C/Bb, not a C/B. By the way, LOVE the vids you're doing with garethnh. Fantastic stuff!
That was absolutely awesome! Pete's Genius came through with this Opera composition. I've been working on playing some of these pieces from Tommy for a while and you make it look so easy. Nice job. Loved the Sparks rendition also.
i know most of this song exept for the intro here, ive got a bit of it, but is there any chance you could do a lesson video? or just send me the chords? it would help a lot
I also bought a guitar instead of a car. I continued to drive the 1985 Ford Granada that burned a quart of oil with every half tank of gas to buy the 1987 Pete Townshend limited edition signature Rickenbacker. The car is gone, but the guitar sounds great! BTW: Sounds great.
Skills! Bravo man. Best on YT.

is your guitar "the classic"?
I have a J200 its what they call the "True
vintage" i would hate it to sound crap through bad mic's ect..
dont know about you.. but its the best thing ive ever bought in my life!!

Dont know if its your setup.. but its the
worst sounding j200 ive ever heard?
Is it a Gibson or epiphone?
kingdom777866 2 years ago
It a Gibson. Its probably more to do with the fact I recorded the video on a very cheap camera. Sounds great in the room.
