  • This song sounds like an exact copy of Eagles of Death Metal's "Solo Flights" which is Josh Homme's "other" band.

  • Solo Flights' goes: "I don't need a reason baby, I don't have to worry..."

In this song, it's "I don't need a reason baby, put your arms around me." The melody is exactly the same.

    That's kind of funny.

  • If you listen really close, the rhythm sounds EXACTLY like BECK'S song CLAP HANDS from GUERO. Anybody else hear that?

  • these guys are cool and all but it just sounds like QOTSA to me

not that that's bad, i like QOTSA

  • Thats because the the singer from this band is from queen of the stone age

  • thank you for the obnoxiously obvious fact there.

i was talking more in general style that vocals

  • hell yeah!!!!!

  • hail to the hammond!

  • rolling stone is retarded if they think that 21st century breakdown is even in the same stratosphere as this album. This is easily the most creative marriage of two unique rock sounds that i have heard in years f rolling stone and fanyone who does not see this album for what it is, A MASTERPIECE

  • Rolloing Stone is a corporate whore that submits to a machine based on backward economics. They are to modern informative journalism as Burger King is to Cheeseburgers.

  • Fills you up but is way too unhealthy?

  • ooohhh, so pleasing. crooning and deep beats <3

  • this band is amazing...

  • Loving the funky Hammond organ solo in the middle, yay JPJ ^_^

  • F%$# MTV, F%$# MSM, THIS is what I'm blasting! TCV are the best thing to come along in a long long time.

  • I second that.

  • the organ sound's like zeppelin! cool!

  • the reviewer at Rolling Stone who gave this kick ass album a 3.5 gave "21st Century Breakdown" by Greenday a 4.5

    ... enough said.

  • More proof that Rolling Stone is a bunch of crap.

  • Holy shit. This I did not know; thank you for informing us. I must agree, how in the blue fuck is anything in that pop "punk" band's library (or the sum of all it's parts, even) in ANY way better than this? Some people are just straight up damaged.

  • the world may just end in 2012

  • Wow I just lost all my respect for that Magazine

  • as did i... i like green day, but they are NOT by ANY means better than these guys...

  • I disagree. Green day knows how to write a cohesive song that doesn't sound like you're whacked out of your mind on bad acid and booze.

  • ok, stupid comment, cuz all 3 of these guys know how to write music far more diverse than green day. take jones for example, the man wrote many different styles of tunes, from bron yr aur stomp to black dog. hes far more diverse than green day as a whole, and that whole genre as a whole, he can write the "bad acid" music ur talking about, and everything else... except rap.

  • Green Day was, is, and always will be a 4-chord punk/pop band.

Them Crooked Vultures is the best music I've heard in years and years. I'm amazed by it.

I think the last time I was absolutely in awe with an album was the first time I heard Radiohead's OK Computer.

  • these guys!!! have just saved rock music!!!!!!! so amazing!!!!

  • Yeah, Rolling Stone mag just had a revealing "kick ass" interview with Lemmy/Motorhead and who was on the cover f____ Madonna!! WTF?? All the same, they gave this LP an awesome review.

  • fuck rolling stone dude!!!! they have no clue deaf motherfuckers!!!

  • I get the EODM comment, but this tune sounds a bit more fierce. less f^^kin around ;)

  • "come on, caligulove me"

    best. lyrics. ever.

  • I kind of hear Prissy Prancing from Eagles of Death Metal in the chorus.

  • true, this one has a EODM vibe about it, including the lyrical theme.

  • more like solo flights and it actually has some lyrics from that song in it "i dont need a reason baby"

    fukin cool

  • cock smoker retards will never understand this. QOTSA and TCV are the shit long live homme.

  • Music critics have a very specific attitude toward what makes music "good," and in my opinion they have no ear at all. Case in point: Prog. The following bands are not in the rock and roll hall of fame: Genesis, Jethro Tull, Yes, Rush. And they never will be, because according to music critics, these bands suck. There are only two groups of people with worthwhile opinions on music, to my mind: Musicians and fans.

  • yea I wish All bands were as "bad " as Rush, . No talent at all there .~~R and R hall of fame is about as relevant as rolling stone magazine

  • Yeah, I have a few problems with both of 'em. Especially Rolling Stone magazine. My biggest problem with them? Putting the Jonas Brothers on the cover as the main article and having the backstage interviews with Pearl Jam, The Who, and the Foo Fighters in small print.

  • I don't know if Rush never will be. I find music critics to be right most of the time, even if they're wrong a good deal of the time. Oh, and they hate retro, or departures from a band's style. For example critics love Pearl Jam's Ten, but hate Vitalogy and No Code. Oddly enough they like Backspacer a lot, which is far from the best album they've done, but easily one of the most accessable.

  • at reading festival

i almost wept because i only caught the end of their last song.

ive seen qotsa a few times myself and they still stand as one of the best bands to see live, and what i saw of TCV, everyone will dance like they have never danced before.

  • i missed them completely :\ thought they were on at a different time so i went and saw someone else. so gutted beyond belief.

  • Okay so who are all these mindfuck douchebags that are reviewing albums these days.

Example:Them Crooked Vultures: Them Crooked Vultures These giants of rock have had fun in the studio. But Alexis Petridis struggles to see the point of a CD

Album's not made from Kelly Clarkson or Lil' Wayne don't need reviews. Where were you idiots when Era Vulgaris came out? An album so diverse and challanging you probably didn't understand it. Go listen to you Jonas Brothers and leave the real music alone

  • Itaaa2 Im with you (Not in a gay way,not that theres anything wrong with that but still lol) People think music by lil wayne, jay z, rihanna are the only thing in music now, i have no problem with rap, pop, techno, but now theres some great rock out and even metal such as qotsa, them crooked.., dillinger escape plan, mastodon, eagles of death metal, the racounters, opeth, kasabian, the dead weather, meshuggah and even old stuff like thin lizzy, king crimson and pink floyd...

  • im buying two copies

  • I'd have to say this is my favorite on the album. Every single riff is infectious.

  • All good/great albums take a little time to digest in order to pick up on the nuances and intricacies

  • this song, in the chorus sounds kinda poppy ("I don't need a reason baby, put your arms around me") but I like the song, especially how Josh delivers the word "Screaming" at 2:06. this song has grown on me, along with amy other of these songs. my favorites are Reptiles, Mind Eraser/No Chaser, and Interlude With Ludes

  • Actually I find Homme sings alot like Bowie on this song. Sounds like Bowie from the "Heroes" and "Low" days. I'm extremely impressed on how different Homme sings on alot of these songs. This album is one of the best I've heard from any band in sometime.

  • I want to be Josh Homme

I want to be Dave Grohl

I want to be John Paul Jones

To do things like this in your life is the ultimate.

  • This tune is sorta Doors-y eh? Its awesome, the only other modern band with that sound is some Dead Weather tunes.

  • Doors meets Iron Butterfly?

  • this song is suck a trip ... trance like buzz rock with great lyrics. superb.

  • Josh's got a touch of Jim Morrison on this track, good stuff

  • josh actually has a really good voice live :/

  • Really? I've seen him 4 times and thought he was excellent. An incredibly diverse with a powerful delivery.

  • it´s still the same guy singing

  • plus i was making more of a combined comment to Rtotale and you.

  • This tune makes me think of being in Vegas at night... Dirty, sly, and psychedelic.

  • Oh my... This is freaking awesome! Luv them all and have been wishing for a new album for them all together(again.) LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This album is history in the making. I'm such a big fan of QOTSA that it's hard to compare, but I really think this is as good as the best.

  • better still, Them Crooked Vultures will be an influence on the next QOTSA album :)

Homme is easily my fav rocker.

  • thats definitely JPJ's key bored stuff in there right?

  • Man, I think they should take that little part at the very end of the song and make a full song out of it, it sounded pretty fucking awesome.

  • Is this David Bowie with the Doors?

  • doors keyboarding, like it!

  • In the "I don't need a reason" part, Josh sounds a little like P J Harvey.

  • what songs is he covering? I recognize taboo by the cramps, and solo flights by the eagles of death metal, but what other songs?

  • sounds like i died and went to heaven, and this is the song they are playing at the pearly gates...

  • Nope, we died and went to rock star hell.

It's tons more fun and this album is the soundtrack.

  • I am at a loss of words...Incredible.nice job boys!

  • 3:30 for the fucking win. I can die happily now.

  • It's about time the world had good music like this to listen to. Absolutely amazing.

  • 4:28 FTW

  • Somewhere John Bonam is smiling because JPJ finally found a drummer worthy enough to play with, UNBELIEVABLE rhythm section!

  • 3:12 = most awesome Homme falsetto ever

  • I love the new music - often times it seems like they play subtle homage to the roots - this one reminds me of Ina gadda da vida. with there own spin - love it - the rock scene needs this music big time . its rocks, it swings, it blows the mind (plus live its one of the freaking loudest events Ive ever been to

  • Love the music in this! Really catchy!

  • Love the Caligulove, definitely the best song title ever. Have to go back and listen to Solo Flights. 3:30 and after is just insane!

  • Is the name of this song referring to that one Roman Emperor, Caligula? Cuz we learned about Caligula in class today, and I was like, "Oh shit, that's the name of that Them Crooked Vultures song," but then I came home and realized in was "Caligulove". I could probably just listen to the lyrics and be able to figure it out, but I'm too lazy...

  • Caligula was famous for how sexually perverse he was, so the song ought to make sense. :D

  • This Song is Insane!

  • I really like it. Good song ;]

  • JPJ is up there with one of the most talented broad experienced muscians working today. He used to play amazing bass lines with his feet on the Hammond..so finnally he is got the keyboards working in a kind of Attractions way.. very cool!

  • Best song title ever.

  • Godverdomme man.

  • yep, the chorus is borrowed straight from Solo Flights "I don't need a reason, baby"

  • true that, but I don't think Jesse would mind :)

  • No, I imagine Jesse is flattered as hell

  • this track reminds me so much of an eagles of death metal song, just can't put my finger on which one...

  • it's very like Solo Flights off the last EODM album, in places.

  • It's about time psychedelia made a comeback!

  • One of my favorite tracks.

  • Nintendo, haven't you heard Warsaw yet?

  • Yes. They're all great, I just really like this one.

  • i think i just nutted in my pants. this is amazing

  • GODVERDOMME!!!!! YEAH

  • JAZEKER YEAH!!!

  • beste woord om dit uit te drukken idd, godverdomme

  • GODDDDDVERDOMME

wat is het goed he? godver

  • organ baby!!

  • This entire album is melting my fucking face off

  • each song is like mini drug trip

  • I love this bass line. It's even more impressive since JPJ plays it with his feet on moog pedals. Great thing to see live!

  • so what's with the part from that eagles of death metal song being in here? um... solo flights

  • I totally saw that when it first got put up here last night, even lyrically partially :)

  • ladies and gentlemen , John Paul Jones

  • i dont think Josh can still say he's no longer apart of the Stoner genre!! wow this song is trippy!!!!

  • Wow this sounds like Cream

....and I just creamed my pants

  • cream with a hint of deep purple/doors/ziggy stardust ..this will be the biggest album of the year .

  • sadly enough nickleback will probably sell more records ... there are more idiots than people with good taste.

  • don't forget lady fucking gaga and shit like that

  • Opening riff kinda reminds of "Nenada"...RIP Natasha. Good shiiiout! And Iron Butterfly? Led Zeppelin? Cream? "Oh, that's not obvious enough Rob. How about the Beatles? Or fucking... fucking Beethoven? Side one, Track one of the Fifth Symphony." Rookies!

  • Ruthieyarr, i agree %100.

  • Them Crooked Vultures has the same effect as methanphetamines.

    Just better.

    WAY better.

  • the first hit is so good that u have to keep taking larger and larger quantities of it, then your brains receptors to the drug adapt to the increased level of endorphins so u have to take copious amounts just to sustain normal life, which leads u to lie, steal and even murder to fulfil your addiction, sound right?

  • That is definitely medically incorrect.

  • Thanks, guys, for truly bringing sexy back!

  • end of thiss song = Jizz in my pants

  • THIS

  • ???

  • oh right, typo

  • Haha no, what I meant by that was that I was agreeing with your statement! Sorry for the confusion lol

  • If anyones familiar with eodm, how similar does 1:17 onwards sound like a bit from solo flights? even lyrically at the beginning.....

  • I was just thinking that.

  • Reminds me a little of Iron Butterfly's Ina-Gadda-Da-Vida.

  • This song is sexy AS FUCK

  • this certainly shows the new breed of over stylized,skinny-jeaned, fedora wearing pussyrock dimwits how it's done.

  • You took the words right out of my mouth... nicely put!

  • i hear LOADS of influences - cream, zep, qsa, even some doors...but these guys have a sound and style ALL their own - no doubt. This is a legend album being born. I'm just floored by it.

  • and a bit of the Owner of the lonely Hearts riff!!

  • 4:28 The Funmachine! (if i'm right)

  • I've been hearing a lot of Cream influence up to this point. Anyone else?

  • I'd say, more Zeppelin than Cream ;-)

  • I'd say that Scumbag Blues definitely has more of a Cream sound to it, but overall, it's more like Zeppelin.

  • I swear Homme makes lullabies for hyper sexed rockers on hallucinagins.

  • Josh Homme drums on Eagles of Death Metal

  • I thought that was dave!

  • Nah Josh usually plays drums for EoDm.... have you checked out Dave's other band Probot....that's some farken good drumming!

  • Best track on the album cant wait for the hard copy to arrive

  • Pre-order a solid gold vibrator for your ears more like, this album will be legendary.

  • damn, is he covering eagles of death metal AND the cramps?

  • josh homme is mainly drums soopa

  • AUGH SO AWESOOOOOOOOOOME

  • You guys rock!

  • Love this song. One of my favorites. I hope they release Highway One.
