  • Check out this months popular mechanics magazine. They have article on how new improve springs allowed nascar engines to go over 1000 hp. Engine turning so fast valves are opening an closing so fast the spring were always the first thing to break.

  • were did you get the cold air intake and how much did it cost and what brand is it

  • baaaaahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahs. did you just paint the whole engine bay with spray paint? bahahhaha

  • not that it matters all that much, but i did battery relocation to the trunk and shortened up the distance between filter and TB on mine to reduce what little bit of lag there is. i feel like i noticed a better throttle response but that is just my opninion and is not measured

  • thats a short ram intake not a cold air, it takes hot air in from the engine, i work in a shop, and why would u do that to a saturn? thats like a 13k car brand new, very cheaply built

  • @vickfan24707 you would do that to a saturn because they are so fucking light weight. plastic body panels brah. weight to power ratio is pretty good and with a few mods they are a fun car. turbo it and its a fast car. they make as much sence to build as any other car. and the engine is even bigger than what most civic guys are running.

  • @johnnyboy922 you obviously know nothing about cars. i work in 2 garages so dont try to act like you know what you're talking about. 1. it doesnt matter that the engine displacement is bigger, the engine itself is crap, you can have a 6L v10 made by saturn and its still gonna be shit. 2. even with your mods its only gonna have 200hp max 3. its power to weight ratio is AWFUL, saturn sc2's have 110 hp usually when we work on them in a shop lol. u look like a cousin lover too btw

  • @johnnyboy922 also i just thought i might add, civic engines i normally work on have about 180 hp stock with a 1.6L. like i said displacement doesnt mean diddily shit, so you just made yourself look like a fucking retard that thinks he knows anything about cars because he can install a fucking pipe that takes 15 minutes to install lol.

  • @vickfan24707 if you really believe displacement doesnt mean shit then I would really like to know why all the fastest cars in the world are rear wheel drive with fucking huge engines. YOU CANT MAKE POWER WITH WHAT IS NOT THERE. you can only jam so much fuel and air in a small engine. you can never make a fully built 4 banger with as much power as a fully built v8. so if you still believe displacement does not matter, enjoy living in your fantasy world where cars run on bullshit and magic

  • @johnnyboy922 fastest car in the world indeed is not a v8 so shut your mouth. v8's are for dumb rednecks. straight 6's are by far the best engines. you are obviously a complete dumbass. go to college for autos and then you can talk to me about cars you redneck lol. you seriously look like sum1 that has sex with your siblings lol

  • @johnnyboy922 o and by the way, formula 1 engines that have 800 hp and kick the shit out of redneck nascar engines are only 2.4L. small displacement, thanks for being an idiot that thinks you need a giant liter engine to get performance lol. and just so you know that isnt even a cold air intake. doesnt matter how much insolation you have its still getting hot air from under the hood. you rednecks make us mechanics laugh :)

  • @vickfan24707 you do not need a giant displacement to get performance. but you can always make more power with the bigger engine if you deny that simple fact that is ok. but you are sorely mistaken if you do not know that the strongest 4 banger will never make what the strongest v8 will. why do people stroke and bore engines? oh thats right to get more displacement and more power. fuck off

  • @johnnyboy922 you're an idiot big guy lol. worlds fastest street legal car is less than a v8 dumb redneck lol, you drive a saturn, thats enough to say about you

  • lol your so wrong it is pathetic. your just a troll man.

  • @johnnyboy922 false, the worlds fastest street legal car that holds the record is a straight 6 :). and im pretty sure having multiple ase certifications means ik more than you'll ever know big guy :) you obviously live in the redneck world where they think v8's are the best lol. if you want a real engine get a v12 fuckin redneck lol

  • @johnnyboy922 and yeah i only work on performance engines for a living u dumb fuck lol. thats like saying thats a cold air intake. idc how many insulations you put on there, its not a cold air intake. go back to learning about cars online you idiot. if you really want to learn sumthing about cars, go to college, and work in a certified shop where they work to make performance cars. now stop making yourself look like such a dumb redneck

  • @vickfan24707 and im a rocket scientist so I can tell you that fuel has a limited chemical energy. eventually you run out of volume(displacement) to put the fuel/air. how do you make room for more fuel and air to make more power? bigger fucking engine. and you may be right the worlds fastest STREET LEGAL car may have a four banger in it. but the WORLDS FUCKING FASTEST CAR does not have a 4 cyl. and the worlds most powerful engines have a very fucking big displacement. tank, tractor, semi

  • @johnnyboy922 you're so fucking retarded. you're telling me things that i already know. your dumb ass is trying to tell me that a 1.9L saturn is faster than a 1.6L vtec lol. when lets see, that piece of shit saturn engine only puts out 110 bhp stock. when a honda doubles that lol. go back to your v8's redneck. maybe u shud get an education. btw you're fucking creepy looking lol. a man as fat as u shud not b walking around without a shirt on

  • @vickfan24707 well what you were saying was that displacement did not mean anything.. i proved you wrong. and a bigger engine always has potential to make more power than a smalled engine if the exact same performance parts are applied. if the saturn had a vtec equivilant then it would be faster. FACT

  • @johnnyboy922 nope it would not be faster. its all in the design of the engine. the saturn engine is not designed to be powerful at all. stop talking dude u dont know ANYTHING about engines at all lol. when you get a degree then you can talk

  • @vickfan24707 and what about it makes it not designed to be powerful. just because it does not have two cam profiles like your fancy v-tec. tell me three things that make it not powerful and why. I am sure your super difficult to earn degree taught you that.

  • @johnnyboy922 its the same concept that makes a 2jz 6 cylinder more powerful than a 6 cylinder from a stupid ford taurus lol. its all in the engineering. the saturn engine is garbage. its a brand new car for fucking $13,000 lol. its a piece of shit get over it. you're just upset cus u cant afford a better car u trailer trash hick lol

  • @vickfan24707 lol i got mine for free from my friend who got it for $700 from a junk yard. maybe you can explain the engineering as to why it is not a good engine unless your just a fucking grease monkey who makes his way turning wrench. maybe your not as smart as you think you are

  • @johnnyboy922 google it smartass lol. your car is a piece of SHIT lol. ask any mechanic if a 1.9L saturn engine could have the same amount of hp as a 1.9L from any other manufacturer lol. it all goes into what is inside the engine. the pistons, valve springs, valves, etc... grow a brain trailer trash :)

  • @vickfan24707 could have absolutely nothing to do with compression or its tune or the restriction of its systems huh? your the idiot. lol you googled your way to being a mechanic.

  • @johnnyboy922 hey dumbass, compression is from the pistons lol. when you wanna tune up an engine u also wanna get titanium valve springs etc.... you obviously know nothing about cars so just stop talking

  • @vickfan24707 lol i know alot of guys with 10-12 second drag cars that are not using titanium springs. and pardon me for not saying compression ratio instead. please stop learning everything you know from forums and tv. the springs have nothing to do with tuning nor is it needed to upgrade anything when you are just adjusting your fuel

  • @johnnyboy922 you're an idiot i learned everything ik from ohio tech lol. we fuel map corvettes to get them up to 900 hp stock lol. please stop acting like you know what you're talking about :)

  • @vickfan24707 well then why the fuck would you say you needed new valve springs etc if you wanted to tune an engine. if your going from 620 hp to 900hp while still stock everything. that is a rediculous gain and not to mention EXTREMELY UNBELIEVABLE. this will be my last post to you because now i know your full of shit

  • @johnnyboy922 you're so stupid lol. to get that much hp out of an engine you need high comp pistons too normally. if you're gonna fuel map them. and you obviously need an education :). one of the guys that came in and taught us about fuel mapping was showing us how he got a stock vette up to 900 hp with his laptop it was awesome. you obviously know nothing about modern fuel mapping sir :)

  • @johnnyboy922 and also, it was on a vette zr1 which is 648 stock, you cant do that on a standard car like a piece of shit saturn lol. he does that on vipers as well. please go back to your redneck ways of making a car faster and we'll keep learning about the modern better way of doing it :)

  • @vickfan24707 Actually the Saturn 1.9 DOHC puts out 124hp, not that it matters a whole lot, what hurts this car is the 4 speed automatic which is perfect for daily driving but lousy for anything else, even with the 'performance' button. For what it's worth, I was able to beat several Honda D-series 1.5/1.6 (yea, I know I wouldn't have a prayer against a B-series without generous amounts of spray), Ecotecs, Q4's, etc in my 01' Saturn 1.9 4 door on a ragged out motor and automatic.

  • @clippergoodwilll saturns are the biggest pieces of shit ever. every video u see of them is people fixing broken saturns lol. i've had to fix way too many of them in the shop and they're trash

  • How much would an air intake cost for it? I have an SC1 model and I'd like to get one for it. However, I know that not every vehicle should have an air intake because in some cases, the air intake would only make worse.

  • I also applied for two jobs.

  • trhats rice right ther

  • @mxer614naaa he is LIKE 20% RIGHT NOW JUST ADD SOME 30 INCH RIMS SOME SPOILERS, 3000 POUND SOUND SYSTEM, SOME HYDRAULICS AND TO FINISH IT UP.... SOME apc lights. hhahaha

  • trhats rice right ther

  • omg SHE APPLIED FOR 2 JOBS AND THEY WERE BOTH FULL TIME THATS AWESOME NEWS DUDE!!

  • lmao, good news i applied for two full time jobs! haha thats the best part. to bad your cars auto. why put money into an automatic.

  • thats only a ram intake???

  • Hey question, I have the Same " Saw blade " type rims as yours, i got a burgandy ( redish ) sw2, i like the alloy color , do like them BLACK or Alloy ????? anyone

  • sweet saturn. my sw2 would smoke u tho! 16.6 in the quarter! at 85

  • Thanks. Please inform me, anyone; I'm considering this for my car for increased gas mileage only.

Why'd you install it? How much to install? Worth it in terms of gas mileage, how much better?

Okay for climates of extreme temps (-40 to 95 degrees F)? Why'd you choose to not hook up the forced-air tube leading from front of vehicle to air filter?

Why metal and not plastic tube to throttle body?

    Thanks for your help.

  • get a knn drop in for gas milage not the all out intake

  • that is not a cold air intake it is a short ram intake just so you all know a cold air is routed outside of the car to get cold air short ram is shorter and cheaper and takes air from inside the engine bay it helps but cold air is better

  • dude i gots the all optins 95 model with stock 15 inch rims and a sun roof and a spoiler

  • an automatic? Dude swap in a 5 speed and you'll be so much faster... What header is that?

  • the very first saturn years had that header its better performace wise.

  • look but im not trying to hate but its a SC2 not SC1 and ur intake isent the best ever u est bet is to drop it down into the front bumper ill try and get some vids of my saturn on here but specter is going to be ur best bet for performance and cost

  • How much would that particualr cold air intake unit cost and where could i get it?

  • thats hardly a cold air intake its still taking in hot air from the open engine area

  • its well insulated with an airbox i made custom now...will have vids soon.... thanks for the hate haaaaa

  • Saturn Sc series definition of a sleeper.

  • @rideitharddotcom

Well its not hate. Its just a classification of intakes. I would call what you have an SRI, Short ram intake. My true cold air intake sits outside of the engine bay on my SL1

  • I work at saturn too. The T/A mount on those model goes all the time. If you can put your finger inside that mount, then it's going bad.

  • you gotta put a video up of the turbo installation

  • not bad not bad, keep it up, and its a short ram intake:P

  • next are bags/paint/small turbo

  • thanks!

  • It's a SC2 Not A SC1 You Got A Twin Cam Not A Single Cam. Sounds Nice Though Keep It Up

  • thanks much

  • No problem I work at a all saturn garage Also It's actually a warm air intake because your radiator hose heats the intake up It will be best to insulate the hose

  • what would you recomend to put around the hose? or near or around it to block the head....id imagine i can build a play to lift it off the hose a lil so...
