If we're taking about weight and cars and what's fair..then line up the mustang vs the gxp model..gxp weighs just over 3600 lbs and mustang weighs about 3200 lbs both v8's..why do I smoke mustangas every time I race one since its lighter..here's an idea mustang guys..mustangs are slow!!! And the gtp models actually weigh more than the gxps..the 3.8 weighs more than the 5.3
@bigcam350 what mustangs do you race? A gxp traps low 14's in the 1/4 mile, same as the 99-04 gts. so unless you are racing stock gts or v6 stangs then it would be a even race. My mustang is slow, but im willing to bet that my slow pos beats your slow pos.
@TheBopop you wish the mustang could have a low 14 1/4 mile..remember those are professional drivers. ive raced and beat a mustang gt s/c bc he couldnt get it off the line. mustangs are like ricers rev the piss out of them to get them going. gxps are hard to get off the line but ive got it mastered. no mustang gt can touch me and my 326 ft/lbs of torque. ive raced an 05 v6 mustang too, smoked it by 10 car lengths with my old tires on it. bring that turd over here id love to race it.
@bigcam350 then that means that your gtp runs slower times then whats advertised so it is still even with a gt mustang as i stated before. I raced a boosted camaro z28 and won because he missed two shifts but does that mean my car is faster??? no it means im a better driver. s197 mustang gts run mid 13's stock and the new 5.slow mustang gt's run low 13's high 12's STOCK. Thats with average drivers not "professional magazine people". My pos stang has 305 ft/lbs of torque stock and its a 4.6v5.3

@CatFro4 1k is outragous. do some research. you can get some good power out of these cars but all they would be is a dyno queen. FWD cars are insanly hard to plant to the ground. I know i have had a few. I also had a 04 monte carlo ss (same motor as the gtp and 3800 series II) it takes alot more than 1k to dip into the 12 pool. I spent about 1k on parts for my car to get into the 12's. i was already a high to mid 13 second car out the box. the gtp is a high 14 to low 15 car.
@TheBopop P.O.S youtube wont let me post a link to videos . but search 12 second GTP and youll see .. With mods like headers, intercooler , and about a 3.1 pulley or smaller you CAN get into the 12's .. And thats probably a little over 1K in parts
@CatFro4 once you go below 3.4 pulley you run into problems though. not with the car but the supporting mods. i mean yes if you could just slap on a 2.8 pulley and other things like headers and what not then yes it would cost probably 2500 or so. But after the 3.4 you have to start controlling knock. to do that a intercooler is needed. a decent intercooler is 1200 by its self. Then add up fuel pumps and injectors etc etc. your at 5k easy with some labor. great cars, but everything cost money

@tylerjones1967 yea for a sedan its not bad but to compare it to a faster car and still say its fast is dumb. the gtp is a 15 sec or high 14 second car. not really fast but good for what its worth and the motor is easliy tunable. BUT it takes money to drop it down to 12's
@last1born313 for every .1 seconds you shave off you also shave about 1/2 to 1 full car length from the factory. so say you do mods and now your car goes 0-60 in 6.3. then you will probably win by 3-4 car lengths.
