  • i remember listening to him....years ago...No one really "got it"....His performances were "all for me". He is most definitely missed.

  • Grande, Klaus!

  • Simply amazing. He may be gone but his voice will live on.

  • erinngerungen an die frühen 80er...toll

  • erinnerungen an die frühen 80er...wie ich noch jung war....

  • This song was originally by Doris Troy in 1963, then it was reproduced by Hortense Ellis, Mark Farner, Bryan Ferry, Ted Hawkins, Lulu, Kirsty MacColl, Martha & the Vandellas, Bob Morrison, Mystique, Osha, Peaches & Herb, Michelle Phillips, The Hollies in 1964, Anne Murray in 1974, Harry Nilsson in 1976, Linda Ronstadt in 1978, and Klaus Nomi in 1982.

  • Haha, oh my god, this rocks.

  • Tomík Balek říká že si jednička Klauzi...

  • Děkuji vám, Tomik.

  • Ahoj,já jsem Tomík Balek a Klaus Nomi je moje jednička

  • Perfection!

  • awesome :]

  • Is Joey Arias on stage here?

  • Pretty sure that's Joey on the right in black.

  • @CusterFlux I actually saw Joey in montreal at a show..and asked..it is him..at least i think that's what he told me.. i was kinda drunk at his show

  • I love the original song by The Hollies, and hearing Klaus perform it just makes me love it so much more!

  • The original version was actually by Doris Troy, the Hollies covered it.

  • Ah...I didn't know that. Thanks for correcting me ^_^

  • More like the Hollies 'perfected it'.

  • @hollies65

More like Klaus Nomi 'perfected it'.

  • @ThoGrt7 LOL!

  • @hollies65 The Hollies recorded it. Klaus Nomi made it worth listening to.

  • @SeeburgMusic LULZ!

  • Tomáš Balek říká že si dobrej zpěvák

  • Souhlasím!

  • Yeah I agree with what trylonperisphere is saying because they both may have borrowed from the same tradition, but I don't think anyone was really imitating the other group.. but besides that, I must say that it really did take just 'one look' 'cause I saw his image on the Nomi Song documentary on Netflix and since watching that, I have been watching his videos, listening to his music, completely immersing my self into total Nomi World.. I can't stop! It took just one look! ;^)

  • Kraftwerk guys owe him sth... Or they all from Germany were like that in those times... Awesome though.

  • To be fair, KW was doing the white face and lipstick look a few years before Klaus. The both borrow from the Weimar Bauhaus and other German culture.

  • @trylonperisphere

His look is an hommage to Gustav Gründgens act of Mephistopheles. A German actor who did a famous impression in Goethe's Faust. This look is mephisto (of Goethe's Faust). The devil.

  • WTF is all I have to say. I like this song but this crazy cat jacked it all up.

  • mon réveil matin.....sur mon gsm.

  • I'm obsessed with this song now!! I even bought his CD o_O

  • Kewl!

  • @amberanthonissen and talented! I agree with you :)

  • lol still prefer the original, but this guy is great

  • This is an incredible Nomi gem! Too bad he's gone. Had he been around today there's no doubt in my mind he would have a singularly unique superstar! Rest in Peace!

  • I first heard of him when I saw him on Bowie's TVC15 Saturday Night Live appearance with the poodle with the tv in its mouth and thought, "Oooh he's interesting!"

  • :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

  • love it

  • Was für eine Stimme,unglaublich.Wundervoll

  • He just finished "Arias with a Twist," a great show featuring Basil Twist's puppets. Opens with Joey spinning on a wheel singing Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir." Amazing.

  • thank you trylonperisphere for posting all these great videos. Did you know Klaus?

Do you know Joey Arias? If you are NYC you should RUN to see Arias with a Twist. It is just fantastic. NOMI would be so proud of Joey.

    xoxoxoxo

  • YW. I never met Klaus. I know some people who knew him. Joey responded to a post I made once, but I don't think that quite qualifies as knowing him. :) Wish I was in NYC.

  • your brilliant.

nobody in england that i know , has heard of him bare in mind i am 14 and so most of my friends are of a similare age and we wern't alive during this time, i no of him because of Morrissey. I'm not sure how Morrissey knew of him.

i absoluty love him tho he was a very special guy

  • Thanks! You give me hope for future generations. :)

  • :) your very welcome.

  • The UK knew about him thru the underground, Steve Strange from Visage, Pete Burns from Dead Or Alive, Bronky Beat were influenced by him, worldwide the list is too long, even Jackson.

The mainstream forgot about his legacy but he's a legend no matter what, historians know.

Its great that you love him at 14!

Im 32, singer/musician i was influenced by the people HE influenced, 1st heard about him in 2004 even tho i was heavely in the

80's music since 96 ,became a fan the moment i heard & saw.

  • well i do get alot of stick for liking him.

    he is definatly a legend.

i find pete burns himself more interesting than any of the music he has ever made. but that is good aswell.

I think with klaus nomi, if you dont like him immediatly i dont think you ever will, he is just one of those people. I absolutly fell in love with him the first time i saw him .

  • "I think with klaus nomi, if you dont like him immediatly i dont think you ever will"

No, I've seen a lot of comments on YouTube where people have seen KN and thought "wtf" at first but before they knew it the song had grown on them and they really liked it.

  • I thought that too at first, when I first heard Ding Dong!, figuring it was some weird joke, but I totally get it now and I love Nomi with a passion.

  • what is joey doing now i saw his Billie Holliday a few years back it was amazing what is he doing now i get to NY pretty often i would like to check him out if he has another show going on.

  • joey is cirque du soliel's show at the new york hotel in las vegas. it's called "zumanity"

  • google "arias with a twist"

  • ja ja ja ja...!:)

  • As much as I enjoy Klaus' music and theme, 0:12 is very creepy.

  • this is realy good vid

  • my god ! nice vid ! love it ! =)

  • t u klaus nomi #1
