You really think they designed this WONDER OF THE WORLD, this ENORMOUS pyramid so people could come and clap and hear the sounds of a bird and a rattlesnake?? Dude, its just a fluke.
"Talk about being in tuned with nature!" - Psshhh, right, dumb thing to say
@Stillwater900 how do you know it's just a fluke? how can you be so convinced that it's just a mere coincidence that a culture so steeped in imagery of the animal world and the natural world... so knowledgable of the sky, the stars, would place their buildings in random locations? I think they were well aware of the acoustical properties in front of the pyramid. and NO... I don't think they built it just to clap in front of it. gimme a break please. you took the caption I wrote too literally.
@kjimbob Its not the location of the pyramid, its the shape of it. How would the be "well-aware" of the accoustical properties of something BEFORE they've built it?
@Stillwater900 I agree with you on that... how could they know it would produce that exact sound? But it's a safe bet to assume they built it, and the other buildings around it, to make it acoustically sound for ceremonies, example: for someone to be heard easily amongst a large crowd. as far as the bird and rattlesnake sound goes... you're right, I'm not en sense tirely convinced I would label those sounds as such if someone hadn't pointed them out. Either way it doesn't negate my of amazement.
@Stillwater900 it's not a fluke since this is not the only pyramid that has this sound. You can hear the exact same sound in tehotihuacan. It's not a fluke, I've been in both places and it's exactly the same thing.
@darthsadic So what? What is that supposed to mean? Its just the shape of them, the stepped sides. If you throw a rock down a mountain road it makes the same noise.
