I listened to this when I was 14 and it "guided" me through my teenage years. Yet it was one of those songs I couldn't find the band of, and I never found somewhere to get the song. The norwegian radio NEVER plays this either. Last year, when I was 22, I became very depressed and saw no point of living. On my way home from work in the car, just as I had turned on the ignition, this song played! I hadn't heard it for six years! Brought tears to me eyes=) it helped me so much
This song has been going aournd in my head for years , think it was out in 1995 ish but I didn't know the name of the song or group , just the line about "breathing deeper". I'm so interesting..
One of my favourite songs from the 90's - brings back great teenage memories. Got both the CD singles, always wanted their album but I guess chances of finding it are pretty slim now. They had another great single called 'Don't Say Your Sorry' or something like that, both are top tunes!
Try ebay. The album is called The signs are all there.
There was a copy there a few minutes ago. Not sure if it's the version of the album with this song or not, though. I recently bought a copy of the CD on ebay and it didn't have Breathe. I was gutted.
One of those songs that should've been huge. Deserved to be..........Great song to post. Cheers ATB. Have a great weekend ;-). Right iTunes...............
A boy from England who I'd met online back in 1998 put this on a mix tape for me what a great song and a great memory! I wish I still had that cassette.
I heard this on the radio when it first came out, its been my number one lyrics search for some time now. god bless jakebrickerton, and god bless blameless to.
amazing tune! reminds me of college days, kicking back & laying in the sun.... was singing my little heart out in my room today to this song - i love shine 5 lol
I went to university with matt, the lead guitarist and songwriter of this band. Really talented guy and good mate. This is a great tune but check out their 'signs' album for some even better stuff. Thanks whoever posted this!
an old mate called Seb gave me the album on tape. He was a drummer who used to know the band and go beating on Chatsorth. Great guy, Great band. Where are u Seb x
i bought this single in a video shop in Limerick, Ireland about 10 years ago for 1pound, my friend worked there and she had no idea where d cd came from.this song is quality.
My mate lived in a flat on Norfolk Park in Sheffield. We heard that the guy next door (Matt Pirt, the guitarist) was in a band and were playing the Leadmill so we knocked and asked if he'd got owt we could listen to. He gave me a copy of Signs. Blew us away!! Breathe was Simon Mayo's single of the week but the record co fucked up the release date of the single by which time R1 had stopped playing it (so I understand) and it all went downhill from there.Breathe 1 o the best songs I ever heard!!
....and if I remember rightly, Simon Mayo had it as his single of the week the following week (which incidently had never been done before) and the record co still couldnt get the cd out. Fucking Idiots!! Top Song, Top Band, Sadly Missed!!!
I bought this when it first came out but lost the tape! I havent been able to find it since, so thank you VERY much for uploading it; this brings back some great memories!!
Amen to that, I feel old too - remember standing at the bus station by college singing this to myself (before they had iPod's!) and just listening to it again brings back memories! Love it...ahhhh, youth!
Had to sign up to you tube to thank whoever put this tune on. Yesterday i was singing it in every music store in cardiff to get hold of it but not knowing what called or who by was not sucessful! Even after calling my old mate - who taped it for me- back in the day!to get the name I couldnt get hold of it til i found it here thank you! I love this tune. I can now throw out the tapes.
Signs easily gets into my top ten 90s albums, shoulder to shoulder with The Sun Is Often Out, The Man Who, Gold Mother, Urban Hymns, Levelling the Land - Blameless gave me hope when it seemed all was techno beep and I know of serried ranks of lawyers, accountants, brickies, techies, hippies, fools and gurus who agree. You know fine, from time to time we've all wanted to breathe a little deeper.
thankyou for posting this! I have been looking for this song for AEONS! Major memory trip and i've only been able to find an acoustic version on CD! :-)
I have been looking for this song for a year or more now. Could never remember what the song title was and then suddenly it came to me whilst watching telly. Rushed upstairs to get on youtube and here I am. Brings back great memories so thanks for having it on your page. Cheers.

It's so good to hear it again, it's bringing back all kinds of memories!
