  • I listened to this when I was 14 and it "guided" me through my teenage years. Yet it was one of those songs I couldn't find the band of, and I never found somewhere to get the song. The norwegian radio NEVER plays this either. Last year, when I was 22, I became very depressed and saw no point of living. On my way home from work in the car, just as I had turned on the ignition, this song played! I hadn't heard it for six years! Brought tears to me eyes=) it helped me so much

  • This song has never left my mind and always comes up when I am about to go out on the town. Awesome upload, thanks

  • Absolutely love this tune but I think the acoustic version on the Signs single was possibly even better than this!!

  • love this song!! brings back some great memories not heard it in years!!

  • The accoustic version is awesome too!

  • @SOULESQUALATOR Its on the B-Side of the 7" single of SIgns I think... and yes I do have it somewhere if needed ;)

  • I was obsessed with this track when it came out. I must have played the single over a thousand times. So good to hear it again after all these years.

  • This song has been going aournd in my head for years , think it was out in 1995 ish but I didn't know the name of the song or group , just the line about "breathing deeper". I'm so interesting..

  • would never have heard of this song if it was'nt for me mate pope'ey cheers mate what a tune lets go out tonite

  • one of the finest one hit wonders ever.

  • One of my favourite songs from the 90's - brings back great teenage memories. Got both the CD singles, always wanted their album but I guess chances of finding it are pretty slim now. They had another great single called 'Don't Say Your Sorry' or something like that, both are top tunes!

  • @thepowercut

Try ebay. The album is called The signs are all there.

There was a copy there a few minutes ago. Not sure if it's the version of the album with this song or not, though. I recently bought a copy of the CD on ebay and it didn't have Breathe. I was gutted.

    Good luck!

And cheers for posting this, Jakebikkerton.

  • Wow. Literally been looking for this song for 14 years. All I could remember was the chorus line! Does anyone know where I can download the MP3???

can anyone tell me anything about this band? its like they dissapeared!

  • they split up in the middle of recording the 2nd album

  • Bang on. What a song.

  • I heard this on the radio when it first came out, its been my number one lyrics search for some time now. god bless jakebrickerton, and god bless blameless to. Im 18 again!

  • i'm trying to search the lyrics too!! help anyone? lol

  • Only 5,814 views - what a disgrace that some shite by fucking Britney Spears will have a million more hits!

  • I saw these guys in 94 at King Tut's in Glasgow. I was surprised they never really took off chart wise.

  • great stuff 1996/97 love this

  • amazing tune! reminds me of college days, kicking back & laying in the sun.... was singing my little heart out in my room today to this song - i love shine 5 lol

  • Takes me back

  • I went to university with matt, the lead guitarist and songwriter of this band. Really talented guy and good mate. This is a great tune but check out their 'signs' album for some even better stuff. Thanks whoever posted this!

  • Matt Pirts dad taught me music and I know his brother too. Great band

  • God this takes me back, stirs such happy memories....

  • I ADORE this song!! Took me about 5 years of searching to finally find it!!!!!!!!

  • an old mate called Seb gave me the album on tape. He was a drummer who used to know the band and go beating on Chatsorth. Great guy, Great band. Where are u Seb x

  • A hot summer and Virgin 1215 playing this every three hours. Happy days. Great stuff.

  • Saw these @ a mini festival @ Don valley bowl in Sheff about 96, they were brilliant. Babybird were the headliners...they were shit!

  • jareds still around i think...ask marco he still sees him! i have a pic of his skinny body somewhere,,,heh

  • i bought this single in a video shop in Limerick, Ireland about 10 years ago for 1pound, my friend worked there and she had no idea where d cd came from.this song is quality.

  • My mate lived in a flat on Norfolk Park in Sheffield. We heard that the guy next door (Matt Pirt, the guitarist) was in a band and were playing the Leadmill so we knocked and asked if he'd got owt we could listen to. He gave me a copy of Signs. Blew us away!! Breathe was Simon Mayo's single of the week but the record co fucked up the release date of the single by which time R1 had stopped playing it (so I understand) and it all went downhill from there.Breathe 1 o the best songs I ever heard!!

  • ....and if I remember rightly, Simon Mayo had it as his single of the week the following week (which incidently had never been done before) and the record co still couldnt get the cd out. Fucking Idiots!! Top Song, Top Band, Sadly Missed!!!

  • I bought this when it first came out but lost the tape! I havent been able to find it since, so thank you VERY much for uploading it; this brings back some great memories!!

  • Remember this song from my teens and always loved it. why don,t people write songs like this anymore maybe i,m getting old

  • Amen to that, I feel old too - remember standing at the bus station by college singing this to myself (before they had iPod's!) and just listening to it again brings back memories! Love it...ahhhh, youth!

    xx

  • i use to play this song on my walkman constantly you also must have had good taste to lol. good times xx

  • Was with Jared at our local jam session just last week. He IS a lovely fella and, yes, hes still got that voice!

  • still love these guys- high point of my teen years when I wrote them a fan letter and jared wrote back, bless him.

I have the album and a bunch of cd singles and you can still buy if you look hard enough.

  • Had to sign up to you tube to thank whoever put this tune on. Yesterday i was singing it in every music store in cardiff to get hold of it but not knowing what called or who by was not sucessful! Even after calling my old mate - who taped it for me- back in the day!to get the name I couldnt get hold of it til i found it here thank you! I love this tune. I can now throw out the tapes.

  • Reminds me of when I was at university. I've never been able to find it on CD either. Youtube to the rescue again!!

  • amazing tune! rediscovered it this morning & the memories keep flooding back

  • Signs easily gets into my top ten 90s albums, shoulder to shoulder with The Sun Is Often Out, The Man Who, Gold Mother, Urban Hymns, Levelling the Land - Blameless gave me hope when it seemed all was techno beep and I know of serried ranks of lawyers, accountants, brickies, techies, hippies, fools and gurus who agree. You know fine, from time to time we've all wanted to breathe a little deeper.

  • Nice one mate we all need to breathe a little deeper from time to time. Good to see you mention the sun is often out! A classic album!

  • thankyou for posting this! I have been looking for this song for AEONS! Major memory trip and i've only been able to find an acoustic version on CD! :-)

  • awesome song...and the singer has a fantastic voice - how did these not become massive!!
