To shockazooloo...sounds like you have a major case of sour grapes. Way to be an adult! The museum is doing better than it ever has thanks to Scott! Bob's the best!
He was in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. Then came back to the Major League. He has relation in southwestern part of Indiana, I don't think Bob Feller would admit to it though. Their grandmother is first cousin to Bob Feller, they moved from Iowa to Illnois. Last summer I saw one of Feller's 3rd cousin pitch, right now in Cal Ripen League.Alex,he is 14 years old, right hander.Throws hard, good control,he was busting them inside, struck out 12 in 4 innings.Don't know about his brothers.
I don't know what id say. Every good player, every boy's idol has turned out to be a criminal of the game. The pure game of baseball has vanished. It's sad to think that i cannot think of any "pure" baseball legends when i was growing up. The only one is Ken Griffey Jr. There is no Cobb, Mantle, Mays, Gehrig, Robinson, Matthewson, Feller, Clemente, Babe, Flood, Koufax, Greenberg anymore. I still love the game and always will. It just WILL NEVER be the same.
To all viewers: Im 21 yrs old. I love baseball, and especially the past players and games. There is nothing better in life than talking to my dad and grandpa about it. Asking them what it was like to watch Ted Williams swing, Willie Mays run down a flyball, Roberto Clemente steal a base, Dimaggio get a hit, or Pete Rose being Pete Rose. Those are legacies. If someday, when i have kids, and my son/daughter asks who the best player was when i was growing up. I don't know what id say. ...continued
It is sad. I got to meet him and he signed a ball for me. you dont meet ballplayers like that anymore. It is like they all lost why they play the game.
i know it really is...i went to spring training when i was 13 and jeff bagwell signed like 50 autogrpahs for everyone before the game, that is very rare to see nowdays..most players today just dont have as much class as they used to and don't respect the game or the fans anymore..it's all about money
yea i met em when i was 10 and went to the hall of fame, i saw em on the street and he signed my ball and talked to me for like 15 min, most players today have no respect for the game like they did and just care about money....its sad
Some do have respect. But I admit sport players are getting less interested.
Once, I think it was Jean Beliveau, who played for Montreal in the NHL, stayed more then two hours after a game to sign and talked to his fans. He said they took time to see him and he will answer by the same time.
I rearely heard of so kind players. Lol. It's ironicle it was Feller; he is more known for his insulting statements than for his fastball and he had a good one. This shows how he talks. LOL
He was clocked at one point in his career at 98 mph. I've even read somewhere (cant remember where) that he may have touched 100 mph in his prime. Not sure about that claim, but he was indeed clocked at 98.
Hank Greenberg had already hit 58 home runs that season, and on the last day of teh season, reporters wanted to be there in case he tied, or even broke the 60 home run record by Babe Ruth. But it was Feller's turn to make history, as he set a new single-GAME strikeout record of 18, which obviously has been broken.

I have 4 things signed by Bob. Very nice. Very talkative. One of the best pitchers ever. He absolutely owned Greenberg.

Don't go to the museum. The director Scott Havick is a greedy control freak who doesn't know how to manage...

He reminds me of Tim Lincecum- that real athletic, big kick, over the top style. He threw mid-90's I'd bet.
