I almost came close to reading the series just because the Pope opposed it. I am sure if I was a kid I would have loved reading Harry Potter. Children love fantasy and magic. I loved "Dark Shadows" and could not get my fill of Sci-Fi and Horror flicks.

I have never ready HP until recently. I decided I wanted something light after reading four cultural anthropology books. The series isn't too bad, but my word... she packs so much extra CRAP into the books that have nothing to do with the story that the movies are bound to be better than the books.
