  • The only thing that could have made this movie any better was if Leslie Neilson had played his bad guy character as Frank Drebbin, Narcotics Kingpin.

  • This movie didn't do well because audiences in 1977 were not ready for weapons grade, Evel Knievel brand awesomeness and a heart touching story all in one movie. The studio decided to split the final script for Viva Knievel into two movies, one action/adventure, one heartwarming drama. Four years later they scored paydirt. You know these two movies as 'Radiers Of The Lost Ark" and "On Golden Pond". Viva Knievel!!!!!

  • "My name's Tommy. I'm your son."

"Where the hell'd you come from?"

    Lol.

  • He was the greatest, but his suits were a bit on the baggy side.

  • @EmperorMarcusNovius Exactly - what in the &^%$ is Gene Kelly or Red Buttons or any of these others even involved in this...??????

  • Forgot about this

  • I forgot about this

  • I forgot about this

  • bad. ass.

  • Wowie.

  • so, what was the plot?

    If indeed there was one?

  • A pathetic movie! But it does have it's 'bad movie' charm. This should be run as a double-feature along with Irwin Allen's "The Swarm". He was involved with "Viva Knievel", so it'd be rather fitting to hvae to movie bombs playing back-to-back. Two Warner Bros films that tanked at the box office.

  • @MR1227

don't think there was much danger of eval wining an oscar

  • This movie opened at many Drive-ins around the country . That's how bad it was. It wasn't the fault of Evel however. They just did a dumb story.

  • This is the kind of movie that would probably end up playing at The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema for Master Pancake. They would have a field day with this unintentionally laughable film.

  • Check it out, Gene Kelly's son was Angus Young, cool.

  • This picture had to compete with Star Wars of the same year. Tony Martin brought me here. Thanks Tony!

  • @chalkup8 Yeah.....and 'Star Wars' isn't half as entertaining as 'Viva Knievel'!

  • Its even more disturbing when one knows the man behind this movie, Irwin Allen, who made epics like The Towering Inferno

  • Okay, when he busts through the door at 0:06, look at the right wing of the motorcycle, it got broken off when he goes through the door. Now a second later, the wing is back on. What a cheesy movie.

  • Yeah, as he approached the door I realized that the wings were too wide for the doorway. I think this is one of those movies I just forgive all of the goofy lines, the continuity errors, etc and just dig it for being so-bad-it's-good. Lauren Hutton has always been a beauty!

  • Whoahhhhhh.....what a shitty movie this was lol. I saw this as a kid back then and loved it as a kid but jeesh what a corny flick it looks like now lol.

  • I have this film on DVD and it is hilarious. Also features some glimpses of Evel's Stutz Blackhawk.

  • The stratocycle in action. It still surprises me EK never give the okay for a Saturday morning animated series. That would've been interesting.

  • saw this when it first came out as a 9 year old loved it...evel didn't do the stunt work for this film... i think it was gary davis ...still a good look back at the 70;s with those bad collars

  • Gary Davis did the stunt work but Evel does some riding in the movie. Evel does a few wheelies near the end of the movie .

  • And Matthew McConaughey as Marjoe Gortner as "Jessie"!

  • When he crashed through the door the right wing broke..hah!!

  • R.I.P, Gods Gain Earths Loss.

  • and star wars came out the same year..hmm

  • god damn did you see that collar?!!!!

  • neilsons in it llllllllol..i know its good now!

  • I have the making on Viva Knievel on my collection. It's interesting. A big fan of Evel but never cared much for the film. The stunts are good but they could have done some great things with a better script.

  • Do you have a "Making of Viva Knievel"?

  • Yes I do.

  • If it's the actual making of the film, which I've never seen or heard of, is there anyway to get a copy of it? I'm guessing it's on VHS.

  • I have it on dvd . It came with some other footage. It runs about 5 mins or so and shows how they made the movie.

  • can you upload? I'd love to see this.

  • Is there anyway to get a copy of it from you or get it uploaded? I'd love to see the making of!!!

  • Knievel footage gets pulled all youtube all the time. I don't want anything pulled from my account. The making of viva knievel was part of a video fans got when they belonged to his fan club years ago. It came with other things on the video as well .

  • Thanks. I understand.

Does his fan club still exist?

  • Hilarious film. Some brilliant non-acting ;-). Great theme and some classic moments, though. Never seen the trailer before. Thanks for posting.
