The only problem I have with this is that he set the bar too high right off the bat. After that first big flourish, everything he did after was sub-par to that. Though Bireli could probably out play me any day, I think he could've achieved a better effect by saving big flourishes until the end or middle.

comparing any good musician with a good jazz musician is plain dumb.the jazz guy would always sound more original and (at least for me) way more interesting simply because he managed to learn and practice so much about music and now he is able to improvise on almost anything.

Birelì is such a wonderful musician that all the so called guitar " heroes " are very small compared to the beauty that he expresses. He's a soul giving us a great gift.

All I can say is that Django - one of the very few innovators of guitar in the last 100 years - showed the way and the legacy brought forward by Birelì, Stochelo, Angelo and Tchavolo is wonderful.

On s'en tape qu'il soit meilleur ou moins bon que Django, ils ne jouent pas la même musique, au même moment, ils n'ont pas le même vécu et pas fait les mêmes rencontres. L'important au final c'est que ce soit de la musique qui puisse toucher ou non.

Bravo à Biréli mas de là à dire qu'il jouais mieux que Django dixit Babik là il se plante,n'oublions pas que de 1 Django est l'inventeur de ce style et en plus qu'il faisait chanter sa guitare comme personne et qu'il avait un feeling inégalable et que en plus il ne faisait ses solos à deux doigts,personne ne pourra le surpasser,ni Bileri ni Angelo Debarre.Django restera le maître inconstesté

Hard to better Django in any case. Even harder when there's only one recording of Django doing this number - oneoffs tend towards the iconic in his oeuvre. This does it with a couple of lengths to spare. Brings a lump to the throat even after the 50th listen - people, if someone insists on telling you Gilmour's solo on Comfortably Numb is the top guitar solo ever, just point 'em right here. This is peerless.
